Chapter 165 - Chapter 164 - Battles and Will

The rooftop of Enies Lobby was still.

Not calm—

stunned.

Cracked stone smoked faintly where the pressure had passed through. Marines lay unconscious across the bridge, weapons scattered, eyes rolled back. The air felt heavy, as if it had only just remembered how to move.

CP9 stood frozen in place.

None of them spoke.

Even Lucci's expression had shifted—subtly, but unmistakably.

"…Tch," Jabra clicked his tongue, rolling his shoulders. "That wasn't normal."

Kalifa steadied her glasses, eyes narrowed.

"Whatever that was… it dropped dozens of trained soldiers instantly."

Kaku glanced at the fallen marines, then back at Luffy. "…We underestimated him."

The Straw Hats were just as quiet.

Usopp swallowed hard. "L-Luffy…?"

Nami felt her heart racing. "That wasn't just intimidation…"

Chopper looked around at the unconscious bodies. "They fainted… all at once…"

Luffy didn't turn around.

He simply clenched his fists.

"This ends now," he said.

The moment shattered.

Spandam, pale and shaking, scrambled backward until his back hit Lucci's arm. He grabbed at the CP9 leader's coat like a frightened child.

"K–KILL THEM!" he shrieked. "THIS IS AN ORDER! WIPE THEM OUT! NOW!"

Lucci didn't even flinch.

His eyes never left Luffy.

"…So this is the resolve of pirates," Lucci said calmly, his voice cold as steel. "To burn the world for one woman."

Luffy stepped forward, sandals scraping against broken stone.

"No," he said simply. "We will."

Lucci's lips curved slightly. "…Then let's finish it."

The momentary shock was all it took.

Franky felt it—the pressure rolling over him like a tidal wave.

"…Heh," he muttered. "That kid's really something."

The chains around his wrists rattled violently.

CRACK.

They snapped.

Franky burst free.

Before Spandam or CP9 could react—

Franky twisted his massive torso and drove his fist forward.

"STRONG—RIGHT!"

BOOOOM!

His mechanical punch slammed directly into one of the CP9 agents, sending them flying backward like a cannonball.

The agent smashed through the railing—

and vanished into the lower levels of Enies Lobby, their scream swallowed by the waterfall.

Spandam shrieked. "W–WHAT?! HOW DID YOU—?!"

Franky rolled his shoulders, grinning wildly.

"Guess you forgot something," he said. "I'm not your prisoner anymore."

Lucci's gaze sharpened. "…So you choose death."

Franky spat blood to the side.

"Nah," he said. "I choose payback."

Fukurou stepped forward, mouth zipper rattling. "FUKUROU! Doriki… 820!"

Franky cracked his neck, metal joints clicking. "Heh. Numbers don't scare me."

Fukurou vanished—

appearing instantly in front of Franky, body turning pitch-black with Tekkai as he drove a fist into Franky's chest.

CLANG!

The impact echoed like a bell struck by a hammer.

Franky skidded backward, heels carving lines into the stone. Smoke curled from his shoulders. "Tch… hard body, huh?"

Fukurou zipped his mouth open. "FUKUROU! Iron Body!"

Franky grinned, teeth flashing.

"Good," he said. "Then you won't mind this."

His arm rotated—

mechanisms whining.

"STRONG LEFT!"

The punch detonated point-blank.

Fukurou's Tekkai shattered under the force as he was launched backward, crashing through a wall in an explosion of rubble.

"…Impossible—" Fukurou wheezed.

Franky slammed his palms together.

"Don't underestimate a shipwright," he growled. "I build things meant to survive hell."

Energy gathered at his chest.

A blinding light formed.

"COUP DE VENT!!"

The blast tore straight through the ruins.

When the smoke cleared—

Fukurou lay motionless.

Franky exhaled. "One down."

Spandam screamed hysterically seeing the sight below them. "T–THIS IS INSANE! THEY'RE MONSTERS!"

Lucci stepped forward slowly, cracking his neck. "…Enough."

The CP9 agents spread out.

Jabra grinned savagely. "Looks like it's finally getting fun."

Sanji lit a cigarette, eyes cold.

"Touch my crew," he said quietly, "and I'll break you."

Zoro drew his swords.

Chopper's hooves trembled—but his eyes hardened.

Nami tightened her grip on the Clima-Tact.

Luffy rolled his shoulders, steam rising once more.

"Robin's waiting," he said.

Above them, Usopp watched from the tower, heart pounding.

"…we're really doing it," he whispered."we're fighting the world."

Below—

The lines were drawn.

The war for Robin had truly begun.

——————————

Moments later—

Enies Lobby was no longer a single battlefield.

It had become many.

Across shattered bridges, collapsed towers, and broken courtyards, fights erupted simultaneously—steel against flesh, will against will. The roar of the endless waterfall below mixed with explosions, screams, and the ringing clash of combat.

The island of justice was burning.

——————-

Kumadori moved like a marionette possessed, limbs bending at impossible angles as his long hair snapped and twisted through the air.

"YOI… YOI…" he intoned, voice hollow and theatrical. "Life is fleeting… suffering inevitable…"

Chopper dodged desperately, heart hammering as strands of hair slammed into the ground where he'd stood moments earlier, cracking stone.

"I—I won't let you hurt Robin!" Chopper shouted, switching into Jumping Point to leap clear.

Kumadori's eyes gleamed. "YOI… resolve without sacrifice is meaningless."

Hair shot forward like living steel, wrapping around Chopper's legs midair. "W-Wait—!"

He was yanked downward and slammed into the rooftop.

CRASH!

Pain exploded through his body.

"…It hurts…" Chopper gasped, struggling to rise as Kumadori's form twisted again—bones cracking audibly as Seimei Kikan reshaped his body, muscles coiling unnaturally.

"You cannot win," Kumadori said calmly. "Your body will betray you."

Chopper's hooves trembled. "…I don't care."

His hand shook as he pulled out a Rumble Ball.

Then another.

Then another.

"Chopper—STOP!" Usopp's distant voice echoed from somewhere above.

Chopper hesitated only a second. "…I have to."

He swallowed the third Rumble Ball.

The scream that tore from his throat was inhuman.

Bones cracked violently.

Muscle expanded.

Fur burst outward like a tidal wave.

The rooftop cratered under the sudden weight.

Where the small reindeer had stood—

A towering monster rose.

Kumadori froze, eyes wide. "…YOI?"

Monster Point roared, the sound shaking nearby towers.

With one massive hand, Chopper grabbed Kumadori and smashed him into the ground—again—

and again—

and again—

Stone shattered with every impact. "DON'T—TOUCH—MY—FRIENDS!!!"

One final slam.

Silence.

Kumadori lay unmoving, buried in rubble.

Chopper swayed… then collapsed, unconscious.

But victorious.

————————-

Chaos ruled the upper bridges of Enies Lobby.

Explosions echoed from distant towers. Steel rang against steel. Smoke curled through the air as marines scattered and CP9 agents clashed with the Straw Hats across the island.

Sanji landed lightly on a narrow bridge—only to stop short.

Someone was already there.

Kalifa stood calmly at the center, heels clicking softly against stone, her staff resting against her shoulder. Soap bubbles drifted lazily around her, reflecting the raging battle in warped colors.

She smiled.

"Oh my," she said sweetly. "A gentleman pirate."

Sanji's eyes widened. "…A lady."

Kalifa tilted her head. "You're one of the Straw Hats, aren't you?"

Sanji straightened instantly, brushing imaginary dust from his suit.

"Yes, mademoiselle!" he said, voice smooth.

"Black Leg Sanji, at your service."

She struck without warning.

A whip of soap cracked across the bridge, exploding against Sanji's chest and sending him skidding backward.

Sanji hit the ground hard. "Tch—!"

Kalifa stepped forward, eyes cold now.

"Don't flatter yourself," she said. "You're an enemy."

She attacked again—soap flooding the bridge, turning stone slick as ice. Sanji barely managed to stay upright, boots sliding dangerously close to the edge.

"Hey—wait!" Sanji shouted. "I don't fight women!"

Kalifa stopped.

Then laughed.

"…An idiot," she said flatly.

She struck him again, heel slamming into his ribs. "And a coward."

Sanji crashed into a railing, coughing.

"Your chivalry," Kalifa continued calmly, "will get you killed."

Sanji struggled to stand, teeth clenched.

"…I won't," he said stubbornly. "I'd rather die."

A voice cut in sharply.

"Then you're a bigger idiot than I thought."

Both turned.

Nami stepped onto the bridge, Clima-Tact resting against her shoulder, eyes blazing.

"Move," she snapped at Sanji. "Your chivalry will kill you—and I'm not letting that happen."

Sanji stared. "Nami-swan—!"

She shoved him aside.

"Go," she said firmly. "This one's mine."

Kalifa smirked. "Another woman? How quaint."

Nami didn't answer.

She raised her Clima-Tact.

——————

Soap flooded the bridge as Kalifa attacked, bubbles popping violently around Nami's feet.

Kalifa moved with elegant precision, staff tapping lightly as bubbles floated lazily through the air.

"You're slipping," she said calmly. "Beauty requires grace."

Nami slid backward, barely keeping her footing.

"Yeah?" she snapped, wiping sweat from her brow. "Then how about this?"

She slammed the Clima-Tact down.

Above them, clouds began to form.

Kalifa paused. "…Weather manipulation?"

Soap flooded the ground, turning stone into ice.

Nami lost her balance. "Damn it—!"

Kalifa struck instantly, heel slamming into Nami's side.

Nami gasped, rolling away just in time as bubbles burst behind her.

Her chest burned. "…I didn't come this far to lose."

She steadied her breathing. "Thundercloud Tempo."

The air charged.

Lightning crackled.

Kalifa turned—

Too late.

"THUNDERBOLT TEMPO!"

Lightning tore through the clouds, detonating the soap bubbles into a violent storm of steam and electricity.

Kalifa screamed, thrown across the bridge, slamming into stone.

She tried to stand.

Nami didn't hesitate.

"HEAT EGG!"

The blast struck dead-on.

Kalifa collapsed, unconscious.

Nami leaned on her staff, chest heaving.

"…Don't underestimate navigators."

———————————

Sanji didn't look back.

He sprinted across broken stone and shattered railings until a wild laugh echoed ahead of him. "HAHAHAHA!"

Jabra stepped out from the smoke, fangs bared, claws gleaming.

"So you're the cook, huh?" Jabra sneered. "Good. I'll enjoy tearing you apart."

Sanji lit a cigarette, eyes dark. "…You picked the wrong day."

Jabra lunged.

Claws clashed against Sanji's leg—

CRACK!

Pain screamed through Sanji's bones as he skidded backward. "Tch…"

Jabra grinned. "My Tekkai's stronger than steel!"

Sanji wiped blood from his lip. "…Then I'll change the rules."

He stepped back.

Spun.

Friction screamed as his foot scraped against stone again and again.

Heat surged.

Flames ignited around his leg.

Seeing this, Jabra's eye widened.

"…What the hell is happening with his leg?"

Sanji vanished.

"DIABLE JAMBE!"

The flaming kick slammed into Jabra's ribs.

"FLAMBAGE SHOT!"

Jabra screamed as he was launched through a stone wall, smoke rising from his scorched fur.

Sanji landed lightly, flames flickering out.

He exhaled slowly.

"I fight," he said quietly, "so my friends never have to cry."

Jabra didn't get back up.

———————-

Steel screamed as swords collided—again and again—echoing across the fractured rooftop.

Zoro and Kaku were locked in a storm of motion.

Kaku twisted unnaturally, his body bending and stretching in ways no human should. His limbs elongated like whips, blades striking from impossible angles as he used his Devil Fruit with terrifying precision.

"You're troublesome," Kaku muttered, adjusting his footing mid-spin as his sword scraped against Zoro's.

Zoro grinned, teeth bared. "Good."

Their swords clashed again—

CLANG!

The impact sent shockwaves through the rooftop. Stone cracked, fissures spiderwebbing beneath their feet. Wind howled as Kaku vaulted backward, neck extending like a crane's as he came down with a crushing overhead strike.

Zoro blocked it—knees bending slightly under the weight.

"Tch," Zoro growled. "You hit hard."

Kaku smirked. "You should be honored. I'm a prodigy."

Zoro slowly straightened. "…Guess it's time."

Something changed.

The air grew heavy—thick with pressure.

A crushing presence erupted behind Zoro, invisible yet overwhelming. The world itself seemed to recoil.

Kaku froze.

Behind Zoro—

Three faces emerged in a phantom vision.

Six spectral arms.

Nine swords poised for slaughter.

Kaku's breath caught in his throat.

"…What… are you?" he whispered.

Zoro's voice dropped—low, steady, absolute.

"Ashura."

He stepped forward.

"Nine-Sword Style."

The strike came from every direction at once.

Kaku didn't even have time to scream.

Blades tore through the air, slamming into him with unstoppable force. Blood sprayed as his body was launched backward, crashing violently into stone. He slid to a stop—unconscious before he hit the ground.

Silence followed.

Zoro exhaled slowly, sheathing his swords.

"…Captain's turn."

———————-

At the very heart of Enies Lobby—

Steam hissed violently from Luffy's body, rolling off him in thick waves.

"Gear Second."

Across from him, Lucci stood transformed—leopard muscles coiled tight, eyes cold and predatory. His tail flicked once against the stone.

They vanished.

Then—

They reappeared midair.

BOOM!

Fist met claw.

The impact detonated like a cannon, tearing chunks of stone from the rooftop and sending debris raining into the abyss below. Lucci twisted, landing cleanly as he drove a heel into Luffy's chest.

Luffy crashed into the ground, stone exploding beneath him.

Lucci didn't pause.

He was already there.

Another strike.

Another.

"Stay down," Lucci said coldly.

Luffy coughed—then pushed himself up.

Again.

Steam hissed louder.

"For Robin!" Luffy roared.

He blurred forward.

"JET GATLING!"

His fists became a storm.

Hundreds of blows slammed into Lucci, each hit cracking stone, each punch fueled by sheer will. The rooftop buckled beneath them as Lucci staggered backward, teeth clenched, muscles screaming under the assault.

Still—

He stayed standing.

"…You're impressive," Lucci admitted, wiping blood from his mouth.

"But this ends—"

"No."

Luffy's eyes burned. "Not until I win."

They charged again.

————————

Far above the chaos, at the edge of a shattered tower—

Usopp stood alone.

The wind tore at his clothes, howling so loud it drowned out his own breathing. His hands trembled—not from fear, but from the weight of what he was about to do.

"…I made it," he whispered.

Below him, across an impossible distance, Robin was being dragged forward.

Her head lifted.

Their eyes met.

Her breath caught. "…Usopp?"

He swallowed hard, heart hammering so violently he thought it might burst from his chest.

He raised his slingshot. "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HER!"

The marines spun around in shock.

"That distance—?!"

"No way a slingshot could—!"

Spandam shrieked, scrambling backward in panic. "KILL HIM! KILL THAT SNIPER!"

Usopp loaded the pouch carefully, every movement deliberate.

His voice echoed across the chasm, carried by wind and fury. "You hear me, Robin?!"

She stared up at him, tears spilling freely now.

"You said you wanted to live!" He drew back, arms shaking—then steadying.

"So LIVE!"

He fired.

The shot screamed through the air, crossing a distance no one believed possible. It smashed into the ground directly in front of the marines—

BOOM!

Stone exploded.

The shockwave sent soldiers flying as they scattered in panic, breaking their formation instantly.

Usopp lowered his weapon, breathing hard, chest burning.

"I'm right here," he muttered fiercely. "I won't miss."

Robin's hands trembled.

For the first time in years—

Hope burned brighter than fear.

Across Enies Lobby—

CP9 fell, one by one.

The Straw Hats stood their ground.

And the island of justice—

Once thought untouchable—

Was breaking under the weight of their will.

High above the battlefield, the World Government learned a terrifying truth.

Even at the edge of the world—

The Straw Hats could still reach you.

Sorry for the late chapter, guys. I had a really hard time conceptualizing and writing this one, especially the fight scenes. Action isn't really my forte, so if some parts felt rough or not as strong as usual, I sincerely apologize.

That said, thank you so much for sticking with the story and for all the support. It really means a lot and keeps me motivated to keep going. I hope you still enjoyed the chapter, and I'll do my best to improve in the next ones!
