Chapter 20 - Black Widow

~RUMBLE

Hearing about food, Goku's stomach rumbled.

The battle last night had consumed a lot of his energy.

Plus, he had fallen asleep without eating dinner, and now it was breakfast time; he was indeed hungry.

And it was the kind of hunger that made his front stick to his back.

"Thank you, Auntie, you're such a good person!"

"Such an innocent child!"

Looking at Goku's pure, big eyes, Black Widow couldn't help but sigh to herself.

But this didn't affect her mission, and she felt it was for the child's own good.

"Find him some clothes he can wear, and get some food. Also, ask the search team if they've seen a red staff and a stone ball."

Quickly giving instructions to two S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents, Black Widow led Goku to a nearby makeshift tent.

"Child, what's your name? How old are you?"

Once inside the tent, she first poured Goku a glass of water, gave him an adult's jacket to put on, and then began to extract information.

Goku drank the water in the cup in one gulp and replied politely:

"My name is Goku, and I am twelve years old."

An asian name, and his appearance was also asian, which was about what she expected.

Black Widow smiled and continued to ask:

"What's that Facility you just mentioned, are they all bad people?"

"Yes, very, very bad people. Aunt Gabrielle said they were doing mutant experiments and training mutant children to be assassins.

They were the ones who sent people to hunt us down before."

Goku saw a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent bring in a plate of fried chicken and burgers, and immediately his mouth watered, and he began to devour them.

"Mutant experiments? So that giant ape and this child are both mutants!"

Black Widow was both surprised and not so surprised by the news.

She was surprised that mutants, who had disappeared for so many years, were now reappearing.

And the reason she wasn't so surprised was that if it was a mutant, then the giant ape's power was understandable.

As a top S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, she was still familiar with most of the information about mutants.

She knew that mutants who reached Level Four had the potential to destroy all of humanity.

"Is there more?"

Having devoured all the fried chicken and burgers on the plate, and still less than one-twentieth full, Goku looked at Black Widow with his bright, black eyes.

He didn't know why, but he felt unusually hungry today.

"He can really eat. That's enough for two adults. As expected of a mutant, his appetite is extraordinary."

Black Widow instructed the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent:

"Go get some more."

While waiting for the food, she continued to probe:

"Do you know the location of that Facility?"

First, find out the location of the Facility, then immediately have Hawkeye take them there, to prevent the people at the Facility from escaping.

After all, eight hours had passed since the giant ape disappeared.

If the people at the Facility had a strong sense of crisis, they might have already evacuated.

Then the clue would be lost again.

"I don't know, only Aunt Gabrielle knows."

Goku shook his head. If he knew the location of the Facility, he would have already gone and destroyed it.

Black Widow frowned, but still asked patiently:

"You just mentioned Aunt Gabrielle. Who is she? Do you know where she is now?"

"Aunt Gabrielle is a nurse from that Facility. She ran out of the Facility with Laura and the others.

Later, they got separated, and I was supposed to escort Aunt Gabrielle and Laura to find their lost companions.

We were attacked by the Facility halfway, and that old man called Magneto was very powerful. I fought him for a long time.

Finally, I don't know how I fell asleep."

Goku tilted his head. He still hadn't figured out how he could have fallen asleep in the middle of a fight. Could that old man know the 'Ghost Child Sleeping Fist' like Grandpa Jackie Chun?

During the World Martial Arts Tournament, when he and Grandpa Jackie Chun competed for the championship, Grandpa Jackie Chun had used a move called 'Ghost Child Sleeping Fist' that made him fall asleep instantly.

"So now I don't know where Aunt Gabrielle and the others are either."

"What did you say? The one chasing you was Magneto!"

Black Widow sprang up from her chair, her face filled with an expression of disbelief.

According to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s records, the Level Four mutant Magneto should have died thirty-five years ago, under the uncontrolled psychic abilities of Professor X.

"Hmm... Professor and Uncle Logan called him that, but that Magneto said he wasn't Magneto.

Magneto... what a strange name, as strange as Bulma's name."

Goku saw the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent carrying a large pile of food into the tent, and immediately began to eat with great gusto again.

"And Professor X and Wolverine. Things seem more complicated than I imagined."

While Goku was eating, Black Widow went outside the tent and called Nick Fury.

"Director, I have important information to report to you..."

"That matches up. John also reported some things to me just now..."

On the other end of the line, Nick Fury wasn't too surprised by the information Black Widow had obtained.

Because before that, Senior Agent John Garrett had just called him.

He said that while assisting in the investigation of the giant ape's whereabouts, he discovered a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent who had betrayed them, codenamed "Stick Insect."

Stick Insect, who was originally responsible for monitoring Wolverine and Professor X, was bribed by Dr. Rice, the owner of the Rice Group, to assist him in mutant gene experiments.

He also used his authority to help Dr. Rice establish a Base near Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

"Natasha, leave the investigation of the giant ape's whereabouts to John. You now take the boy named Goku to Pinion.

Wolverine and Professor X have been detected there.

Professor X's condition is currently unstable..."

John was already in charge of this area, and the appearance of a traitor under his command made him very angry. He strongly requested to personally apprehend the traitor, and Fury couldn't refuse him.

Natasha, on the other hand, was excellent in psychology, skilled at persuading others, and had an advantage in appearance, making her more suitable for the mission of bringing back Wolverine and Professor X.

"Understood!"

Black Widow had no objection to the Director changing her mission.

No matter what the mission, she would do her best to complete it.

The reason she chose to join S.H.I.E.L.D. back then was to atone for the mistakes she made in the Red Room, to seek redemption.

So, she didn't care about money, power, or any of that.

Hanging up the phone, she turned and walked into the tent, seeing that all the food that had just been piled high had disappeared. Black Widow couldn't help but marvel again at how much the boy could eat.

One should know that the amount of high-calorie food was enough for dozens of adults...
