Chapter 11 - Disappointment

Emma got ready for her dinner date with Max, feeling excited and nervous. She'd been looking forward to seeing him all day, and she couldn't wait to find out what the night had in store.

When she arrived at the restaurant, Max was already there, looking handsome and charming. Emma's heart skipped a beat as he smiled at her, and she felt a sense of relief wash over her.

But as they sat down to dinner, Emma noticed that Max seemed a bit distracted. He was quieter than usual, and he kept glancing at his phone.

"Everything okay?" Emma asked, feeling a sense of unease.

Max hesitated for a moment before answering. "Yeah, everything's fine," he said. "Just dealing with some family stuff."

Emma nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment. She'd been looking forward to spending time with Max, and now it seemed like his family issues were going to get in the way.

As the dinner went on, Emma tried to be understanding, but she couldn't help feeling a sense of frustration. She'd been so excited to see Max, and now it seemed like he was preoccupied with other things.

As the check came, Max reached for it, but Emma insisted on paying. "You can get it next time," she said, trying to sound casual.

But as they walked out of the restaurant, Max didn't mention getting together again soon. In fact, he seemed a bit distant, like he was lost in thought.

"Hey, is everything okay?" Emma asked, feeling a sense of concern.

Max turned to her, his eyes apologetic. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I've just got a lot on my mind," he said.

Emma nodded, feeling a sense of understanding. But as they said their goodbyes, Emma couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. She'd been looking forward to spending time with Max, and now it seemed like he was pulling away.

As she watched Max walk away, Emma couldn't help but wonder if she'd misread the situation. Was Max just busy, or was he losing interest?
