Chapter 145: Fourth-Grade Xuan Artifact Scroll: Rift Void Sword!
One month later, in Hulei's refining field, Jiang Lin placed his Scarlet Scaled Gauntlets back into the Crimson Dragon Cauldron and began refining the Half-Step Xuan Artifact Scarlet Scaled Gauntlets using the Cauldron's effects.
Jiang Lin discovered a better way to attach spiritual power: wrapping the Dou Qi weapon in his own soul power, then using the Soul Forging Art to temper it.
Of course, this was just a sudden inspiration; he hadn't yet figured out a way to envelop the weapon completely within his soul and refine it with the Soul Forging Art.
Therefore, Jiang Lin used the more traditional method of hammering and tempering. The base of the Scarlet Scaled Gauntlets was already good, so even after it took shape, he could still use the Soul Forging technique to imbue it with soul power.
However, this method required a higher level of skill from the refiner. Yuan Baozi's technique of using external tools to hammer the materials was a bit of a shortcut and only suitable for use during the forging process. Jiang Lin, on the other hand, needed a more complicated procedure to imbue the entire weapon with soul power. Simply using soul power to hammer was something Jiang Lin could do, but he wouldn't do it that way.
That's because directly using soul power to hammer was a task only achievable by those with a Perfected Soul Realm. Jiang Lin didn't want to reveal his soul power level yet, because it was too astonishing.
Before long, Jiang Lin took the Scarlet Scaled Gauntlets out again. Compared to before, there was now a faint trace of blood on the gauntlets.
The Blood Refining Method.
"Junior brother, your talent is truly amazing! In less than two months, you've mastered both the Soul Forging Art and the Blood Refining Method!" Hulei and Yuan Baozi were observing Jiang Lin's technique from the side. When Jiang Lin finished, Yuan Baozi immediately exclaimed excitedly.
Jiang Lin just smiled without responding. He had actually grasped the Soul Forging Art at first glance, but it wasn't until a month later that he demonstrated his ability to imbue materials with soul power. It wasn't easy—hammering the soul power onto his own soul extensions hurt a lot, and no wonder the Refining Guild had some cooperation with the Soul Hall.
Being able to imbue materials with soul power meant that Jiang Lin had officially stepped into the threshold of being a Xuan Artifact Master. Once he could refine a Fourth-Grade Xuan Artifact, he would pass the Xuan Artifact Master test.
The Xuan Artifact Master test was much simpler than the Third-Grade Artifact Master test because Xuan Artifacts consumed a lot of soul power. Refining one on the spot would take a lot of time, so the process was simplified. As long as Jiang Lin successfully forged a Xuan Artifact, he would pass the Xuan Artifact Master test.
"Basically, I've taught you everything I can. Now pick a blueprint and prepare your first Xuan Artifact," Hulei said with satisfaction as he looked at Jiang Lin. It was clear that guiding a genius like Jiang Lin was effortless.
Hulei took out more than ten Xuan Artifact blueprints from his Spatial Ring and laid them in front of Jiang Lin. "You've seen it before; the same Xuan Artifact can have many grades. The blueprints in front of you are some of the best ones the guild has collected over the years. They all have high potential. You can exchange them for higher-level scrolls in the guild, or you can use them as a foundation to develop your own high-level Xuan Artifacts."
"Pick one. Every Third-Grade Artifact Master who has learned the Soul Forging Art gets one chance to receive a free Xuan Artifact scroll from the guild. Even though you're my disciple, I can't break the rules. The only way I can make an exception is to give you more options. For the other Xuan Artifact scrolls, you'll have to trade them for scrolls of the same value."
Hulei placed the ten or so excellent Xuan Artifact scrolls in front of Jiang Lin. The Refining Guild was essentially a platform for technical exchange, and if Jiang Lin wanted more techniques he didn't know, he would have to provide new techniques to the guild in return.
"Normally, your Feather Sheath Wings would have earned you another Xuan Artifact scroll, but I don't recommend doing that. The best use for your Feather Sheath Wings is to exchange it for long-term benefits from the guild. That way, you can exchange it for the refining materials you want. Many of the guild's refining materials are hard to come by outside."
Within the limitations of the rules, Hulei wouldn't let his disciple suffer. He wanted Jiang Lin to sit back and enjoy the 10% profit the guild earned from the Feather Sheath Wings. This was the best outcome Hulei could think of. Many high-level or rare materials within the guild required contribution points to exchange, and the Feather Sheath Wings were a great way for Jiang Lin to accumulate them.
Listening to Hulei's explanation, Jiang Lin looked at each of the Xuan Artifact scrolls in front of him.
Among them were the Refining Cauldron, Medicinal Cauldron, and Yuan Baozi's initial version of the Scarlet Scaled Xuan Shield.
"Hmm, Teacher, this one," Jiang Lin said after hesitating for a while, having browsed through the scrolls.
Hulei and Yuan Baozi looked over and saw that Jiang Lin had chosen a sword scroll.
Fourth-Grade Low-Level Xuan Artifact: Rift Void Sword!
"Rift Void Sword, huh," Hulei murmured when he saw Jiang Lin's choice. "The Sixth-Grade version of the Rift Void Sword, when used by a Dou Huang, can split space barriers with a single strike at full power. It's considered an extremely powerful Xuan Artifact."
Normally, a Third-Grade Artifact Master would choose a production tool like a Refining Cauldron as their first Xuan Artifact blueprint and then use it to exchange for other scrolls. But since Hulei had given Jiang Lin the highly significant Qing Xuan Qiankun Cauldron, Jiang Lin didn't need a Refining Cauldron for now, so he focused on other options.
Each Xuan Artifact scroll came with a short description of the artifact's effects.
The Rift Void Sword's description was: With a charged strike, the sword's force can tear apart space!
The word "Rift Void" was misleading. In reality, the core ability of the Rift Void Sword lay in the "charging" process.
This Xuan Artifact scroll was truly valuable because of its powerful "energy charging" technique.
"Hmm, here you go," Hulei waved his hand, and the scroll in front of Jiang Lin floated into his hands, while the other scrolls returned to Hulei's Spatial Ring.
Hulei continued, "Do you plan to attend the Artifact Master meeting next month?"
Jiang Lin tucked the scroll into his ring and shook his head, "If it's about the Feather Sheath Wings, I won't attend."
Hulei smiled when he heard this, "There aren't enough people in the Refining Guild, and the quality is uneven, so we can't hold a grand meeting. But in Zhongzhou, they can. I'll take you there one day. The Xuan Artifact Master conference in Zhongzhou is really interesting. You'll get to see all kinds of strange and fascinating things. It won't disappoint you."
"Since you're not attending, I won't say much. It's just some division of labor. Yuan Baozi will update you on the results later."
"Focus on your cultivation, and make sure to properly refine the Qing Xuan Qiankun Cauldron. My Crimson Dragon Cauldron has been tossed around by you guys; you're not leaving me anything."
"By the way, there's an auction at the Miter Chamber in three months. I heard they have some Earth-tier Dou Techniques. I'll take you there to check it out."
