Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 - Do You Know Alchemy

After David Johnson left, Hannah Young went straight to Samuel Thompson's side, tugged at his clothes, and pouted:

"Dad, why do I feel like you're deliberately trying to match me with David? Why did you keep my phone number, and why did you make me see him off? Hmph! Even if he cured you, there's no need to push me to him. After all, we did pay him."

Hannah Young thought she could escape from the cliché of arranged family marriages. Samuel Thompson had once promised her he wouldn't meddle in her marriage plans. Now the appearance of David had thrown all her plans into disarray!

How could she not understand her father's intentions!

Samuel Thompson placed his hands behind his back, still staring in the direction David Johnson had left.

After a long time, he looked at Hannah Young softly and said, "Hannah, what do you think of Mr. Johnson?"

Hannah Young blushed from the sudden question.

David Johnson was handsome, indeed not bad-looking, and had a mysterious aura.

As for his abilities, he could even cure her father's illness, so naturally, he was quite capable.

"He's okay, I guess, nothing too special. I know plenty of brilliant young talents better than him..."

Samuel Thompson nearly raised his hand to slap Hannah Young when he heard this.

"Brilliant young talents? Let me tell you, those so-called brilliant young talents you know aren't even worthy to tie Mr. Johnson's shoes!"

Upon hearing this, Hannah Young was a bit dumbfounded. It was the first time she had heard her father speak in such a tone.

Those she knew weren't even worthy to tie David Johnson's shoes?

What a joke!

David Johnson, at best, excels in medical skills, but in terms of background and conversation, could he possibly surpass those who have received superior education since childhood?

Absolutely impossible!

Hannah Young suddenly thought of something and rebutted, "Could even Johnny be inferior to David Johnson?"

Johnny Gomez had always been a legend within their circle. He had skipped grades in elementary and middle school. At 16, he topped the college entrance exams in Northridge Province! He then went straight into Eldoria University for further studies and was once hailed as the child prodigy of Eldoria. By 19, he was pursuing a master's degree at Stanford University, mastered level 10 piano, and held an eighth-degree rank in Go.

Moreover, his family background was even more formidable as the Gomez family was one of the four great families in Brooksdale and a prominent family in traditional medicine!

Johnny Gomez was almost regarded as a favored son of Brooksdale, admired by countless people.

From a young age, her father had praised this person during every meal! He even frequently used the term "a dragon among men" to describe him!

Hannah Young couldn't believe such a person could be inferior to David Johnson!

As expected, Samuel Thompson was silent for a moment, contemplating, before speaking, "Johnny Gomez is indeed among the top in Brooksdale, but if you truly were to compare—"

He paused for a second, then continued, "In his lifetime, he would only have the right to look up to David Johnson."

"Hannah, I've protected you well, so you don't know what the world is like when you peel off its glamorous facade; it is dark, it is filthy, and it is bloody.

In such a world, only one type of person can truly thrive, and that is the strong. They control 80% of this world's resources! With a mere wave of their hand, they can obliterate our Thompson family! They stand at the peak of the world, seeing us as ants! As dust!"

"But! David Johnson is different from us! He is not an ant, nor dust! He is someone who can determine the life and death of those powerhouses!"

"If those powerhouses are like an array of insurmountable mountains, then David Johnson is the sky above these countless peaks!"

Samuel Thompson's words resounded in Hannah Young' ears like a thunder shock; her scalp tingled, and her mind went blank, her worldview began to collapse, leaving only the image of David Johnson in her mind.

Charity Hall.

I got out of the taxi, and Larry Martin was already waiting at the door.

"Mr. Johnson, you've finally come. You didn't leave your number when you left before, and I was afraid you'd forget. Some of the herbs just arrived from Springfield; they're very fresh and highly potent..."

Larry Martin quickly approached, noticing the absence of a car for David, which surprised him a bit.

With David's martial prowess, he could easily have a luxury car for transportation, but since it's his private matter, Larry didn't find it appropriate to inquire.

I glanced at Larry Martin and nodded, "Where are the herbs? Take me to see them."

"Mr. Johnson, please follow me."

Larry Martin led me across the hall to the backyard.

The backyard was densely packed with herbs, and if measured purely by weight, there should be about 200 pounds.

I checked these herbs; both their age and freshness exceeded my expectations, making me view Larry Martin in a better light.

"Mr. Martin, you've put your heart into this." I bowed slightly, then handed over a card, "Please help me calculate the price at market value."

Though Larry Martin truly wanted to gift these herbs to David, he knew David wouldn't agree, so he quoted a low price directly, "Mr. Johnson, just 5 million for our Charity Hall will do."

In reality, acquiring these herbs, taking labor into account, cost him nearly ten million.

Some of these herbs were incredibly rare, found deep within Mount Ashwood, with significant value.

I anticipated that Larry Martin would sell at a loss to me, so I didn't say much, knowing I would return the favor in due time.

After swiping the card, I gave Larry Martin an address, asking him to arrange a delivery at 3 PM sharp in the afternoon.

"By the way, Mr. Martin, I have something to consult with you about," I suddenly said.

"Please go ahead, Mr. Johnson."

"Mr. Martin, do you know where I can buy an alchemy furnace in Brooksdale?"

I really didn't want to use an induction cooker for alchemy; the results were just too poor.

Upon hearing "alchemy furnace," Larry Martin' eyes narrowed sharply, and his expression turned rather astonished.

"Mr. Johnson... Do you... do you know alchemy?"

His voice trembled as if he had heard something strange.

Larry Martin was so shocked for a reason.

Because Eldoria's alchemists had disappeared for over a thousand years! The term "Alchemist" was something that only appeared in legends!

Although some elixirs were circulating in the market, most of them were relics from a thousand years ago, incredibly precious!

Some elixirs could even auction for billions!

They were entirely priceless.

Connecting David Johnson's purchase of so many herbs, it genuinely seemed possible it was for alchemy!

His heart was in turmoil, trying hard to suppress his surprise, but found it was futile.

He stared intently at me, awaiting his answer.

I squinted and only after a few seconds did I smile and say, "Mr. Martin, are you kidding? How could I do alchemy? I merely have a hobby in collecting."

From Larry's reaction, I realized that the matter of alchemy mustn't be discovered by others, so I naturally wouldn't naively admit it.

Hearing this, Mr. Martin felt somewhat disappointed.

If the David in front of him was truly an alchemist, he might have immediately hurried to report to the Martin family in Northridge Province, even urging the family head to personally try to win David over!

Because to Eldoria's martial families, an alchemist was extremely valuable!

Any family that could control an alchemist would undoubtedly become a top-tier family in Eldoria within three years!
