Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Ninetales VS Beedrill

Chapter 92: Ninetales VS Beedrill

Director He walked in, chuckling as he said, "Didn't you just catch a Vulpix? I helped you look for an Exceptional-grade Fire Stone, and now I'm here to deliver it."

As he spoke, Director He handed Kenji a small black box.

Kenji was delighted. Director He's efficiency was incredible.

He quickly invited Director He to sit in the living room while putting the box containing the Fire Stone away.

"Yo-mo..." The little Vulpix on the sofa, hearing someone enter, reverted to its original form. It jumped up and snuggled into Kenji's arms, its mismatched eyes staring intently at the small black box in Kenji's hand.

"Heh heh heh, this Vulpix has certainly bonded well with you. It's so clingy right after being captured," Director He praised with a smile.

Kenji offered an awkward laugh, and the two sat on the sofa chatting.

They didn't have much to discuss; Director He mainly asked if Kenji needed any further assistance.

Hearing this, Kenji didn't stand on ceremony. He cleared his throat. "Well, Director He, I just caught a Oddish."

Director He's expression didn't change much. He waved his hand casually. "No problem. I'll look for an Exceptional-grade Leaf Stone and Sun Stone for you when I get back and send them over."

Kenji didn't intend for Oddish to evolve into Vileplume, so he declined the Leaf Stone.

"Oh, right, Director He. Is there any way to acquire a Mega Ring and Mega Stone?" Kenji asked curiously.

Director He paused, frowning slightly this time. After a moment, he replied, "That... The Mega Ring is easier. Our academy has a supply of them. As for the Mega Stone, it depends on which Pokémon you want it for.

We do have some Mega Stones in the academy, but not necessarily the one you need."

"For Beedrill," Kenji said without hesitation.

Director He frowned again in thought, then shook his head. "Our academy doesn't have a Beedrillite."

At Director He's words, Kenji felt a pang of disappointment but quickly recovered.

"You focus on your training. I'll see what I can do to get a Beedrillite for you," Director He offered.

Kenji nodded. "Thank you for the trouble, Director He."

Director He didn't linger. After a few more casual words, he left.

As soon as Director He was gone, Vulpix's eyes locked onto the small box on the sofa beside Kenji.

Kenji found it amusing. He opened the small black box. Inside, sure enough, was a pale yellow crystal, with a fiery red pattern at its center, like a burning flame.

Overall, the entire stone looked like a raging fire, with the pale yellow part as the outer flame and the fiery red center as the core.

"Yo-mo..."

Vulpix's eyes lit up. It could clearly feel the extremely pure and concentrated Fire-type power contained within the Fire Stone in Kenji's hand.

Most Pokémon have an almost instinctual desire for evolution. Ash's Pikachu and Bulbasaur were exceptions.

Kenji smiled and held the Fire Stone out toward Vulpix.

Vulpix's eyes glowed. It stuck out its small tongue and licked Kenji's face, then reached out its paw toward the Fire Stone in Kenji's hand.

The moment Vulpix's paw touched the Fire Stone, the stone suddenly erupted with terrifying Fire-type energy that surged into Vulpix. A white light immediately enveloped Vulpix's body.

Kenji stepped back two paces, silently observing Vulpix's evolution process.

The Evolution Light lasted for nearly a minute before gradually dimming.

When the white light completely faded, a Pokémon with platinum-white fur, mismatched eyes—one red, one blue—and nine tails stood quietly by the sofa.

Its nine tails swayed slightly behind it. Simply sitting there, it perfectly embodied nobility and grace.

Ninetales (4-Star)

Sex: Female

Level: LV.48

Type: Fire

Base Stats: 685 (HP: 100, Attack: 105, Defense: 100, Sp. Atk: 110, Sp. Def: 135, Speed: 135)

Abilities: Drought, Illusion

Moves: ...

Potential: S+

After evolution, Ninetales's Base Stats had reached 685, a significant power boost.

Furthermore, the Exceptional-grade Fire Stone had slightly increased the power of Ninetales's Fire-type moves.

"Yoooo..."

Ninetales let out a long cry, looking up.

Kenji was quite astonished as he examined the Ninetales before him.

A regular Ninetales's fur should be cream-colored.

Why was his a platinum-white?

Kenji vaguely recalled that a Shiny Ninetales was pure white.

But his didn't look quite like a Shiny...

He was surprised for a moment, then decided not to think about it anymore.

Perhaps because of the recent breakthrough, Ninetales wasn't even interested in watching TV anymore. It conveyed its thoughts telepathically: "I want to battle Beedrill."

Clearly, Ninetales knew that among Kenji's Pokémon, Beedrill was the strongest. Even Gyarados was tame and obedient in Beedrill's presence.

Kenji was a little surprised but didn't refuse. He went upstairs and called Beedrill out of the training room.

This was also a good opportunity to humble Ninetales's pride a bit.

"Go easy on it," Kenji said, patting Beedrill's body as a reminder. He also wanted to see how strong the Level 48 Ninetales was after evolving.

"Hiss..."

Beedrill nodded in response.

The person and two Pokémon then entered the battle arena.

Kenji stood outside the arena, watching Ninetales and Beedrill.

Beedrill heeded Kenji's instruction, making a rare move of not initiating the attack immediately. Instead, it activated its Speed Boost and waited quietly in place.

"Yoooo..."

Ninetales opened its mouth, and a pillar of fire instantly shot toward Beedrill.

Flamethrower!

Beedrill wasn't panicked when the fire pillar flew toward it. It sharply ascended, flying into the air.

As Beedrill flew up, Ninetales's blue eye subtly glowed. Its Confusion ability instantly wrapped around the fire pillar, forcibly changing the trajectory of the Flamethrower to chase Beedrill.

Seeing the fire pillar follow, Beedrill changed direction, flying low toward the ground. The Flamethrower naturally followed close behind.

Beedrill seemed to be deliberately controlling its speed, keeping the fire pillar on its tail until the last moment before impact. Only then did it turn, narrowly dodging the attack just above the ground.

The Flamethrower behind it wasn't so nimble and slammed directly into the ground.

"Yoooo..."

On the other side, Ninetales let out a cry, and then purplish-black lights flashed around it.

Ninetales illusions appeared out of thin air in the arena.

"Double Team? No... that's not right."

Seeing the appearing Ninetales, Kenji first thought of Double Team, but then quickly denied it.

The duplicates Ninetales created were not made through Double Team; they were illusions created using the Illusion ability!
