Chapter 262: Blast Burn vs. Hydro Comet!
The Hurricane raged on, ruthlessly bombarding Gyarados.
The shield from Sterak's Gage shattered. As Gyarados was exposed to the relentless wind blades once more, the final shield—from Bloodthirster—triggered.
The Hurricane finally stopped.
Gyarados also stopped moving. Its massive body was riddled with countless small cuts from the wind blades.
In the air, Charizard flapped its wings, exhaling a small puff of flame that dissipated in the air. Its eyes remained fixed on the sea serpent below.

Below, the head-hanging Gyarados suddenly moved. It slowly raised its head, looked up at Charizard, and let out a roar that shook the heavens.

But Gyarados was fueled by rage. It wasn't about to let Charizard escape so easily. It gave chase.
Charizard flapped its wings desperately, glancing back over its shoulder.
Gyarados was like a relentless blue torpedo, sticking close to its tail. The distance between them was closing fast.
At this rate, being caught was only a matter of time.
The two Pokémon moved incredibly fast. Crossing the entire arena took only seconds.
Soon, Charizard was backed into a corner with nowhere left to run. Suddenly, it reversed direction. It dove down, flipped in mid-air, and threw a punch crackling with electricity straight at Gyarados.
Thunder Punch!!!
Gyarados roared, reacting instantly. It stopped its charge, not dodging the incoming Thunder Punch. Instead, it twisted its body and whipped its tail down toward Charizard.
Aqua Tail!!!
Aqua Tail collided with Thunder Punch.
With a thunderous BOOM, Charizard's punch was overpowered and knocked back. In the next instant, the massive, thick tail—almost as wide as Charizard's body—slammed down onto the dragon.
CRASH!!! —
Charizard's eyes bulged, nearly popping out of its sockets. Its mouth gaped open, tongue lolling out, as its round belly caved in under the impact.
Charizard plummeted straight down, smashing into the ground with a deafening crash that shook the entire arena.
Dust billowed up.
When the dust settled, Charizard lay in a crater, the ground beneath it concave. This testified to the terrifying power of Gyarados's Aqua Tail.
Charizard lay on the ground, the flame on its tail flickering weakly. Its eyes were wide but unfocused, clearly still dazed from the blow.
A single Aqua Tail from Gyarados had nearly knocked it out cold.
But soon, life returned to Charizard's eyes. Its hand twitched. Slowly, painfully, it flipped over and pushed itself up. Its movements were slow; it was severely injured.
Charizard panted heavily, then slowly raised its head. Its gaze sharpened, and it let out a roar.
"Char!!! —"
As if sensing its fighting spirit, the dying flame on its tail suddenly flared up with a whoosh.
The fire burned higher and fiercer than even when Charizard was at full health.
Blaze Ability! Triggered!!!
Blaze: Powers up Fire-type moves when the Pokémon's HP is low.
The extent of the power boost depended on the Pokémon's will to fight.
