Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Evolution of the System and the Bloodbath

Klaus's silver hair shimmered faintly under the dying light, while his dragon-gold eyes burned with renewed determination.

After choosing his class the previous night, he had thrown himself back into the hunt, abandoning the outdated level system in favor of a rank-based progression — an evolution that mirrored the changes rippling through the Global System itself.

The old documents he once studied — full of XP tables, boss calculations, and item drop charts — now felt like relics from a primitive age.

He had moved beyond numbers. Now, he pursued ascension.

He opened his updated status, watching the interface adjust to reflect both his celestial blood and his new class.

Armed with seventy EP and an ocean of stored Essence, Klaus stepped into the ruined streets.

The steel sword that once symbolized his humanity was now replaced by the shimmering threads of divinity that flowed from his hands — luminous filaments of death and rebirth.

The first wave came quickly: twenty Level 3 zombies, their wails echoing like a funeral choir.

He extended both hands. Threads of Death activated.

Silver threads, radiant with celestial energy, wrapped around each corpse and began to drain them — 40 Vital Essence per second from every one.

Within moments, the horde crumbled into gray dust, and Klaus absorbed 800 units of Essence (20 x 40).

"That's power," he murmured — the warmth of stolen life coursing through his veins, healing every trace of fatigue.

A group of fifteen Level 5 goblins charged next, their crude weapons glinting. Klaus cast Voracious Web — a glowing lattice that spread across the street, immobilizing them in midair. The threads pulsed with divine hunger, draining 100 Essence per turn.

He followed with Woven Strike, slicing through the web itself — and through the goblins.

Fifteen bodies disintegrated at once. 1,500 Essence absorbed.

Combat had become a ritual — an art of annihilation and consumption.

He began spending his accumulated power strategically:

10 EP → Essence Devourer (Rank A) → +30% absorption efficiency, double core capacity.

10 EP → Threads of Death (Rank B) → drains 50–80 Essence/sec, cost 20 Divine Power.

5 EP → Voracious Web (Rank B) → drains 150 Essence/turn, 10m range.

By 6:30 PM, after annihilating over a hundred monsters — zombies, goblins, skeletons — his aura surged.

The System pulsed:

[Rank Advanced: S−]

His stored Essence now exceeded 15,000 units. He converted 5,000 into 50 EP and continued refining his arsenal:

Golden Flame → Rank D (damage 150–300, range 10m)

Emerging Wings → Rank D (flight 10s, cooldown 30s)

Woven Strike → Rank B (+30% damage, cost 15 Divine Power)

Each evolution aligned perfectly with his growing mastery.

Every motion, every breath, every thread he summoned felt ordained — the precision of a god learning to sculpt destruction.

The apocalypse no longer terrified him.

It was fuel.

And Klaus — the Celestial Deathweaver — was its evolution made flesh.
