Dahlia's POV

Lorena stood speechless before me, her usual quick wit failing her completely.

After our heated exchange, I finally won the battle and selected an expensive wine-red fringe dress that hugged every curve. The price tag made my stomach churn, even though it wasn't coming from my own bank account.

Within half an hour, Soren dispatched a sleek black sedan to escort Lorena and me to the evening's festivities.

The location sat perched high on a mountainside outside the city limits, an imposing white structure that resembled something from a European fairy tale. A wine cellar had been carved directly into the rocky hillside, while towering pine trees created a natural fortress around the property. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcased breathtaking views of the endless ocean below. The mountain air carried the intoxicating blend of fresh pine and salty sea mist.
