"That's enough." The sharp voice sliced through Miranda's venomous tirade, causing her to freeze mid-sentence.
Madge's eyes widened in obvious surprise. She clearly hadn't expected Eddie to intervene and silence Miranda.
"Miranda, you're crossing a line. You have no right to speak about Miss Mathews that way."
"Madge, I'm only defending you. You rushed here straight from the airport for Soren's birthday celebration, only to discover that during your absence, certain people have wormed their way in. I wouldn't put it past someone who was involved with Cobb to now set her sights on Soren."
Those words made me laugh out loud. "Miranda, you've got your facts twisted. The reality is, my true motivation for getting close to Soren isn't simply to steal him from Madge. It's also to reclaim what's rightfully mine."
The room went dead silent as every pair of eyes turned toward me. Even Lorena's eyes went wide with shock.
