Women can be surprisingly easy to fool sometimes. A little kindness here, some thoughtful gestures there, and suddenly an innocent girl hands over her entire heart without question.

Sometimes I wonder if my luck was really as terrible as I thought.

At least Cobb didn't lure me to Weston City just to sell me off somewhere. His identity wasn't completely fake either.

The only thing he stole from me was six precious years.

Six years. Hoover enough to leave deep scars, but not so long that they couldn't heal.

I changed from a trusting, foolish girl into someone who never leaves home without putting on a careful mask.

All those years, I twisted myself into shapes trying to become whoever Cobb wanted me to be.

But I missed the most crucial detail. He had fallen for the real me in the first place.

So losing him, enduring all that pain, was exactly what I deserved.

Because I ignored a basic truth. If you can't love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to?
