Chapter 17 - Raiding the Hilichurl Camp

Once the Shop opened, things got lively fast.

A single potato cost five copper coins.

The player [Waibi Babble] immediately went all in—

spending every silver coin he had to buy two hundred potatoes in one go!

He didn't buy a single piece of gear or consumable—

just grabbed his mountain of potatoes and marched off to start his farming empire!

Liang Chuan couldn't help but smirk.

This guy was basically treating "Genshin: Initiate" as a farming simulator!

Most players were busy exploring the new world, eager to experience supernatural power as soon as possible.

But players like [Waibi Babble], diving headfirst into their own side careers, were happily lost in their fields.

With life-skill players like these around, Liang Chuan had no worries about base construction anymore.

After [Waibi Babble] and the other "farmers" bought up all the crops, the rest of the players swarmed in.

Everyone had a little game currency in hand and had been waiting for the Shop to open.

In moments, a massive queue had formed in front of Liang Chuan's stall.

Within just one hour of operation, he felt like his whole body had gone numb.

Every single second had been spent handing over items.

"Damn it… this job really needs a humanoid automaton to handle!" he muttered.

"If I catch some Natlan natives with [Control Collars] and make them work the counter, they'd probably revolt!"

After half a day of business, the players had nearly emptied their wallets.

The best-selling items were still [Bandages], [Minor Vitality Potions], and [Sports Drinks]—anything that restored HP.

The price of death in this game was simply too high.

During the early stages, ordinary players couldn't afford to resurrect at all.

Even if they managed to get their hands on some Bioenergy,

they'd sell it immediately on the Trading Platform for profit.

For them, keeping their HP bar full was top priority!

Especially since there weren't any "healer" classes yet—

even fire mages could only conjure a tiny flicker of flame.

All caster classes were weak early on.

That made healing consumables the only lifeline for survival.

When the Shop finally closed, Liang Chuan stepped outside and hung up a sign:

[Shop Hours: Opens randomly for one hour each day.]

He wasn't about to stand there all day long.

An hour was already his limit.

"Forming a 100-man raid group!

Anyone up for clearing the Hilichurl camp, join up!"

Liang Chuan, sitting inside the [Stone Shelter], perked up at the loud shout from outside.

Looking out the window, he spotted the speaker—

none other than [BlazingFlame], the very first player, UID-01.

He stood at the center of the base, rallying players:

"Our scouts found an Exquisite Chest in a Hilichurl camp!

But there are too many of them—we can't get close!

Join us! Let's raid the camp!

Loot will be split evenly based on market value!"

At the same time, he copied the message into the World Chat channel.

Someone waved at him and called out:

"Hey, don't you have that assassin in your party—[OneSlashToTheThroat]—the one who can stealth?

Why not just have him sneak in, open the chest, grab the loot, and leave?"

Hearing that, [BlazingFlame] looked embarrassed.

On the team interface…

[OneSlashToTheThroat]'s avatar was completely grayed out.

He had tried exactly that.

He activated [Windstep], snuck up to the chest—

but the moment he started opening it, the system flagged it as an attack action.

He broke stealth, and a Wooden Shield Hilichurl body-slammed him straight into a wall.

Moments later, a mob of Hilichurls swarmed him to death.

Worst of all, even though [OneSlashToTheThroat] was willing to pay real money to revive,

there wasn't enough Bioenergy on the market yet to do so!

He'd have to wait for the economy to recover before revival was even possible.

"Yeah, [OneSlashToTheThroat] tried stealth-looting and got himself killed,"

[BlazingFlame] admitted honestly.

"That's why I'm organizing a raid group now."

"This game's progression system is kind of dumb," one player muttered.

"Grinding monsters for EXP doesn't even compare to construction or farming tasks."

"Sure, main story missions are the fastest way to level," another argued,

"But if you just stay in the base, where are you gonna get Bioenergy from?"

[BlazingFlame] nodded.

"Exactly! And aren't you curious what's inside those treasure chests?

We're in a full-scale open-world game here!

If you don't explore, what's the point?"

His words clearly struck a chord.

Building the base was important, sure—

but ignoring the outside world in a 100% realistic fantasy world felt… wrong.

"I'm in! Archer class here! Just crafted a bow—my DPS is solid!"

"I'm a Titan—boosts defense, got armor and a stone axe. I'll tank the front lines!"

"Water Elementalist, not great at fighting—but I've got money! I'll cover everyone's consumables!

If we get any equipment I can use, it's mine.

Also, buying Bioenergy and currency at premium rates—negotiable!"

As players shouted out, the raid group's numbers climbed rapidly.

Within minutes, [BlazingFlame]'s 100-man team was full.

Watching from inside the [Stone Shelter], Liang Chuan asked curiously,

"System, they can only form teams of a hundred? Isn't that kind of small?"

System: [Genshin: Initiate features three group modes—

Squad: up to 10 players

Raid: up to 100 players

Guild: up to 1,000 members, expandable with guild level.]

"What about loot distribution?" he asked again.

System: [In Squads and Raids, Bioenergy gains are divided equally.

Equipment drops can be set to Free-for-All, Round Robin, Need/Greed, Dice Roll, or Auction mode.

In Guild Mode, all Bioenergy and loot are stored in the guild warehouse and distributed by the Guild Leader.]

Liang Chuan nodded—

classic MMO mechanics through and through.

"System, can I post other kinds of missions?" he mused aloud.

"Like daily commissions—

something like, 'Kill a few monsters every day' to keep players active?"

After all, the more missions, the better!

The rewards came from the system anyway,

so it wasn't costing him a thing.

If possible, he'd love to flood players' Quest Logs

until they couldn't even scroll to the bottom.

...Though that might just drive the completionist players insane.
