Chapter 169 - Chapter 168: Are You Guys Going to Beat Me Up, or Am I Going to Beat You Up?

Liu Yilin was pushing Ye Xinxia forward when he suddenly noticed Song Jie blocking the path ahead.

"Please move aside," Liu Yilin said politely.

"Please let go of her," Song Jie replied calmly.

"What did you say?"

"I said, please release your dirty hands. Didn't you hear Xinxia just refuse you a moment ago?" Song Jie repeated, his tone firm.

At that, several passing students turned to look over, having caught the exchange.

Someone whispered, "Isn't that Ice Young Master Liu Yilin? Who's the other guy? He actually dares to talk back to Liu Yilin!"

"Looks like there's going to be a fight—both of them like Ye Xinxia, huh?"

"I don't get it. Why would Liu Yilin even like a cripple—"

Before the student could finish, Song Jie suddenly grabbed him by the collar and glared at him with a cold, piercing look.

Under Song Jie's sharp gaze, the student stumbled back in fear, his bravado instantly vanishing.

"You don't even know me, Liu Yilin? You're not from Zhejiang Academy, are you?" Liu Yilin asked, frowning slightly.

"Ice Young Master, this outsider dares to act wild in Zhejiang Academy! Teach him a lesson!" the same student shouted, trying to recover his dignity.

"He's my friend. He came to see me," Ye Xinxia quickly explained.

But when Liu Yilin saw her defend Song Jie, a flicker of irritation crossed his face.

"Xinxia, this man's too arrogant. Stay close to someone like him and trouble's bound to follow."

He walked to the front, looking Song Jie squarely in the eye.

"This is Zhejiang Academy—not a place where any random guy can act wild. I, Liu Yilin, Ice Element Mage of Zhejiang Academy, challenge you!"

He clearly wanted to defeat Song Jie in front of Ye Xinxia and humiliate him completely.

"Liu Yilin?" Song Jie repeated. The name sounded vaguely familiar, but he didn't bother to think about it too hard.

It didn't matter anyway.

He looked around at the students gathering nearby, then smiled faintly.

"Are you all coming at once, or should I just beat you all up myself?"

The crowd erupted in shocked murmurs.

"What did he say? Beat all of us up?!"

"Who does this guy think he is?"

"Someone push Xinxia out of the way!" Liu Yilin barked, his anger surging. This arrogant guy was really pushing his limits!

The watching students were just as furious—but most believed Liu Yilin alone was more than enough to deal with this loudmouth.

Song Jie tilted his head slightly and smiled. "So… are you ready?"

Everyone frowned. Was this guy serious?

Then—without warning—Song Jie completed his Star Chart and Star Atlas for the Summoning Element in rapid succession.

In the blink of an eye, three enormous Summoned Beasts appeared from the Dimensional Space one after another!

"Holy crap! That aura—it's a Warrior-level demon beast!" someone shouted, panic spreading instantly through the crowd.

Most of the students here were Beginner-level mages. Against a Warrior-level Summoned Beast, they wouldn't even last a second!

"Wait—another one came out!"

"No way, that's Warrior-level too!"

"Three! All three of his Summoned Beasts are Warrior-level!!"

The crowd went completely numb with disbelief. Their legs trembled, and even the thought of running seemed useless.

The student who had insulted Ye Xinxia earlier collapsed onto the ground.

Right in front of him, a Wind Riding Sky Eagle lowered its beak and let out a deafening screech!

The terrified boy's face turned pale—and then the smell of urine filled the air as he wet himself in fear.

Song Jie stood among his Summoned Beasts, grinning. "Come on. If you don't make a move, I will."

Liu Yilin stared at the three Warrior-level beasts surrounding Song Jie, cold sweat forming on his forehead. Even if they fought one-on-one, he couldn't win.

"M-my friend, we're all students here. This… this is going too far!" Liu Yilin stammered, his bravado completely gone.

Song Jie smirked. "Too far? What do you mean? I'm a student too."

"What—?!"

The onlookers were shocked again. A student? With this kind of power?!

Even though Liu Yilin was considered a genius of Zhejiang Academy, he was nothing compared to this man.

"Xiao Lu," Song Jie called lazily, "teach them a lesson. Let them know not just any random guy can approach Xinxia."

Liu Yilin's face went pale. He understood those words were aimed directly at him—a slap across his pride!

Moments later, the sounds of smack! smack! smack! echoed through the courtyard as his Summoned Beasts "disciplined" the arrogant students. Cries and groans filled the air.

Song Jie didn't even spare them a glance. Instead, he turned to Ye Xinxia and said softly, "It's noisy here. Let's go somewhere quieter."

Ye Xinxia nodded.

Song Jie took the handles of her wheelchair and began pushing her away. He remembered passing by a lake earlier, where the scenery had been peaceful and bright.

Soon, the two arrived at the lakeside. A gentle breeze rippled across the water's surface.

"I have some bad news," Song Jie said quietly. "You should prepare yourself."

At those words, Ye Xinxia's brows furrowed, and her voice trembled. "Is it about Brother Mo Fan?"

Song Jie nodded.

"Did something happen to Brother Mo Fan?" Ye Xinxia asked anxiously, gripping Song Jie's sleeve tightly.

"Nothing bad happened," Song Jie said. "He's just… missing for a while."

"You're lying!" Ye Xinxia's eyes filled with tears the moment she heard the word "missing."

Song Jie froze for a moment, realizing he might've said it wrong. He quickly crouched down in front of her.

"No, no—it's not what you're thinking. He's just gone for a short time. That's all."

Ye Xinxia's eyes were red as she looked at him. "Really?"

"Of course. If you don't believe me, kiss me. If I blush, that means I'm lying," Song Jie said, half joking, half trying to cheer her up.

Ye Xinxia blinked, stunned, and then let out a small laugh despite herself. Kiss him and see if he blushes? What kind of logic is that…

Song Jie took out a tissue and gently wiped her tears.

"Your brother will be back soon. I promise you."

"Really?" she asked again, still sniffling.

"Of course it's true. And if he doesn't come back, then I'll be your brother instead! That'll really annoy him," Song Jie teased.

Somewhere far away, Mo Fan would probably sneeze: I'd like to thank you for that!

Ye Xinxia's tears stopped. A faint smile appeared on her tear-stained face.

Song Jie wiped the last of her tears and grinned. "You've cried so much, you look like a little calico cat now."

Ye Xinxia suddenly realized how close they were, and a blush quietly crept across her cheeks.

Just then, a sharp, mocking voice cut through the peaceful air.

"Well, well… Ye Xinxia. Ice Young Master treats you so well, and here you are flirting with another pretty boy!"
