After passing through the villages on the outskirts, Victor and the others delved deep into the primeval jungle, unaware that the villages they had passed had already been destroyed.
According to Revolutionary Army intelligence, there were many ruins on the island, but the largest was in the central area.
When passing smaller ruins, Nico Robin would stop to make brief archaeological notes. Perhaps because these ruins didn't seem particularly important, the three Revolutionary Army soldiers and Enel waited on the side, bored out of their minds.
But one thing amazed Enel: his captain actually had knowledge of archaeology.
During Robin's work, Victor could accurately point out key areas to record and offer explanations. Even Nico Robin found this incredible, marveling at his professional insight.
Could it be that this infamous man with a bounty of 2.6 billion berries was also an archaeologist?
"Victor, Enel, Robin, the core ruins are ahead! I'm so excited to discover some secret treasures!"
The gray-hat revolutionary soldier leading the way was thrilled as the outline of the massive ruins came into view.
"Okay! If there's treasure, I'll give your Revolutionary Army a share!"
Victor replied with a neutral expression, though he sneered inwardly. He suspected something was amiss in the core ruins—the revolutionary soldier in front was definitely not trustworthy.
Still, Victor had to proceed: first, to protect Robin, and second, because he had discovered an ice road on the sea, suggesting former Navy Admiral Aokiji might be nearby.
Victor believed that by following the plan of the secretive group, he could temporarily convince Aokiji to join them—though the King-class crew had yet to be assembled.
"That's…"
At the entrance to the core ruins, Robin looked unusually excited.
Finally! She had found traces of O'Hara!
A protective wall constructed with advanced archaeological knowledge marked the entrance. Although it had been violently destroyed, Robin could still recognize it. Her beautiful eyes welled with tears. Could anyone from O'Hara still be on this island?
"Water from ice?"
Victor approached the shattered wall. A puddle of water on the ground felt chilling to the touch—it was ice melt. Considering the high temperature in the primeval forest, the ice's origin was unusual.
"Robin, let's go in!"
The revolutionary soldier who had led the way urged them forward, though his pace slowed, and he gradually fell behind. Victor was ahead.
At this moment, Robin, Enel, and the other two Revolutionary Army soldiers were about to enter the ruins when Victor suddenly stopped.
"What's the matter, Captain?"
Enel noticed Victor wasn't moving and turned around. His eyes naturally fell on the revolutionary soldier who had previously led the way.
Through the mind network, Victor instantly detected a change in the soldier's voice. Something was very wrong.
Robin and the other soldiers also stopped. One of them noticed his companion lagging and asked,
"Hashimoto Koki, hurry up! Why have you been acting strange these past two days?"
Hashimoto Koki's face darkened from the moment Victor stopped. His fists clenched, cold sweat covering his forehead. Though he had hidden his strength, he was still weak before a man with a 2.6 billion berry bounty.
"Hashimoto Koki!? Haha! If you don't act now, I'll make the first move!"
Victor glared coldly. Hashimoto Xiaohui shivered but forced calm for survival.
"What are you talking about, Victor? How dare I fight you? My foot just hurts a little. Let's go!"
He patted his right foot and started walking again, each step feeling like a march toward hell.
When passing Victor, Hashimoto met his eyes—and in them flashed lightning.
Panic surged through him. He was a super rookie pirate worthy of 2.6 billion, capable of fighting admirals—but even he could sense death from Victor's gaze.
"Go to hell! Damn pirates!"
Hashimoto Xiaohui suddenly attacked. He vaulted, somersaulted for leverage, and swung his sword with overwhelming force toward Victor.
Enel and Robin prepared to intervene, but Victor remained still, looking at Hashimoto Xiaohui with contempt, as if observing a mentally inept opponent.
"Your vaulting isn't standard—points deducted! No! You're eliminated!"
Victor snapped his fingers. Thunder roared.
Library! Click! Boom!!!
Violent thunder surged through Hashimoto Koki, triggering dozens of thick thunder dragons from the sky. His body was blasted from flesh to charcoal, then from charcoal to slag, as if he were unworthy of existence.
Perhaps his movements were too large, preventing complete coverage. When the thunder died down, only part of his calf remained.
"Bah! What bad luck."
Victor kicked the calf away in disgust, then bit into it.
"Is he an undercover agent of the World Government? This situation isn't simple," Robin said, walking up to Victor.
"Do you want to go in?" he asked.
"Yes~!" she replied.
"Robin, I love your straightforwardness. Come on, go in. I'm here—nothing will happen to you today! Don't be moved! My wife said to help each other more!"
"Um~hahaha, thank you!"
Robin smiled. At that moment, she felt Victor had truly become a good friend to the Straw Hat Pirates.
Victor really was extraordinary.
