Chapter 42 - Growing the combat teams.

Lucas looked at his hand holding his sword and saw it trembling.

He realized that all the adrenaline had died down and he was exhausted.

'Fighting like this really takes it out of you.'

'But my sword mastery has greatly improved and I am happy about that.'

Lucas looked back to see his avatars look at him in shock and awe.

Elara had only killed two orcs who were injured from Krasbert.

Krasbert killed 6 and Grishna killed 13.

Meaning Lucas killed a whopping 19 orcs.

Orcs weren't easy to kill.

They had strong and tough bodies.

They also had mastery over weapons and fought in groups.

Killing so many C-rank monsters would probably be impossible for almost all awakened in the world right now.

The orc village now had less than half of them left and the orc chief, so Ghost was probably taking action now.

Lucas wasn't worried about Ghost.

He could kill the boss quickly with his shadow step and with his very superior stats, the 40 orcs there wouldn't be much for him.

After a short break, Lucas and the other decided to walk towards the village and Ghost.

When they arrived, Ghost was already done.

He was surrounded by 40 corpses of orcs and his body was full of their blood.

'Damn.'

Ghost didn't show any sign of exhaustion and walked towards Lucas and kneeled.

"I have completed my mission, master!"

"Very good, Ghost. I don't know what I would do without you. If you ever want or need something, just ask."

"Thank you master. I am not worthy of such praise!"

Lucas sighed and shook his head before chuckling.

"Alright then, I will collect the corpses. I want you all to search and collect for materials."

They responded.

"Yes master!"

They all gained a lot of experience, but no one leveled up this time except for Elara at the beginning.

Lucas checked on the rewards from the orc chief.

You have received 10 attribute points.

'That's all?'

'At least I will get another reward for clearing the gate.'

After an hour of collecting materials from the gate, they were finally done.

Lucas grabbed the gate core and destroyed it.

You have cleared the C-rank Orc Village Gate.

You have received 15 attribute points.

You have received an equipment option card.

You have received a weapon upgrade card.

Lucas smiled.

'It's less than last time but still good.'

Lucas spawned outside and didn't want to hang around here, so he quickly took off on his bike after unsummoning his avatars.

'I'll be back soon with my guild.'

***

Lucas was at home to clean himself up and claim his rewards.

He already let his guild know that he cleared the C-rank gate and that he would head there after cleaning up.

'Time to claim my rewards.'

You have claimed the equipment option card.

Choose one of the following options.

- Bow and Arrows (B)

- Full Body Armor (B)

- Steel Sword (B)

'Easy. Grishna needs an upgrade.'

You have chosen Bow and Arrows (B).

'Next.'

You have claimed the weapon upgrade card.

Lucas decided to upgrade Elara's sword.

Sword (E) has been upgraded to Sword (D).

'Great. Now I should distribute my attribute points.'

'I have 28 in total.'

Stats:

Strength: 73~80

Agility: 73~80

Stamina: 73~80

Senses: 64~70

Intelligence: 93~94

Attribute points: 28~0

Avatar points: 21

'I love this feeling. I feel stronger and refreshed.'

Before heading back to the guild, Lucas had a passionate session with Elara and Grishna since they were very thankful for the weapons and Lucas felt invigorated from the power up.

***

Lucas arrived at the guild and had a meeting with the department heads to discuss their current situation and future plans.

Francesco reported that they had now recruited everyone useful from the applicants.

According to him, 19 people were recruited into the Helios guild and were now training with the others.

Lucas had to decide now where to assign them.

Of the 19 awakened none had a class, but they had different weapons.

2 people used a shield.

3 people used daggers.

4 people used a mace.

4 people used a spear.

6 people used a sword.

Lucas was contemplating.

'Haa. It's not even certain that they will get a class related to their weapons.'

He found it annoying, but he ultimately decided to just assign them based on the weapons they wielded.

Lucas put one shield user in team 2 and the other in team 3.

He also put 1 dagger user in each team.

He put 2 mace users in team 1 and one mace user in both other teams.

Team 2 received two spear users and the other team one each.

Lastly team 1 got 3 sword users, team 2 got 1 and teams 3 got 2.

With every recruit assigned to a team, every team now had 11 members.

Lucas went to meet the recruits and told them what teams they were assigned to.

He also shortly talked with Hugo, Vanessa and Kenji, the team captains. Lucas told them about what he discussed in the meeting concerning the teams.

The captain looked satisfied with his decisions.

Lucas then spoke again.

"I want you to take the recruits to the F-rank gate to hunt monsters and work on your teamwork. If it goes well, I want you to also hunt in the E-rank gate in the late evening."

They looked surprised.

Hugo asked.

"Can I ask why? Sir, I just think that this might be rushing it."

Lucas answered.

"I know, but I want you to be ready. I plan to take all teams to Affoltern tomorrow and clear the city of the monsters."

They all looked shocked.

Lucas spoke again.

"Don't worry, I will handle all areas with D-rank monsters with my avatars and if the other gates are too much for you, you can just retreat."

They looked nervous, but nodded in agreement.

The captains then called their teams together to head to the F-rank gate.
