Chapter 73 - New Captains and Teams

"The first new captain of a new 5 member combat team will be Stephan Oberhof. You may stand up and come to the front."

Lucas handed Stephan the Helios guild's new D-ranked armor.

"Congratulations on officially becoming a captain."

Lucas shook his hand and everyone clapped and Stephan's now former teammates from team Monet cheered for him.

'Stephan might be quiet, but he's mature and experienced plus smart and honest. I believe I made the right choice.'

Lucas then made Katalin Laune of team Brugg a new captain.

He was also confident in this choice since Katalin is mature, hardworking and honest.

She is also very skilled with her shortsword.

After her, Lucas made Alex Rieder from team Brugg a captain as well.

Although not as experienced as the others, he was skilled, hardworking and loyal. But he would also most likely stay a 5 member team captain.

The next new captain was Patricia Decker from team Wu.

She was an attractive woman in her early thirties. She was quiet but smart and kind.

The last new captain was Bryan Miller of team Alves.

Bryan was a skilled and experienced sword master who was extroverted, funny and friendly.

There were 5 new teams and captains now.

Lucas dismissed everyone after announcing the captains and took his time deciding on where to assign the 20 recruits.

After half an hour he was done.

All 20 recruits were assigned between the 5 new teams.

Lucas called everyone again to announce where they were assigned.

Once everyone was inside, he listed the teams.

All new teammates grouped up and got familiar with eachother.

After a short while they finally packed up and left Horgen.

The next day.

It was Sunday morning and Lucas was up early again.

Sunday might have been a rest day before, but after the awakening happened, people were too busy because of the gates.

That was especially the case for the Helios guild.

Lucas and his guild had now saved Affoltern, Dietikon, Dielsdorf, Meilen and Horgen.

Since Uster, Winterthur and Bülach didn't need any help and Andelfingen and Pfäffikon were already destroyed, only Hinwil was left.

Hinwil already had many casualties and were struggling severely.

They had a small population but big land and a small association branch that helped the awakened there against the monsters.

Lucas planned to clear the gates in Hinwil today.

This time Lucas planned to clear the gates alone in Hinwil.

The 11 experienced combat teams had the day off today.

The 5 new teams and all current recruits would stay in Zurich and train inside the Helios guild's E and F-rank gates.

Since the 5 new captains were experienced, Lucas wasn't worried.

They would first hunt inside the E-rank gates and after that they would accompany the recruit teams into the F-rank gates to watch over them.

After telling his guild members his plans for today at the guild's headquarters, Lucas immediately left for Hinwil.

***

Lucas drove for almost an hour before arriving in Hinwil with his large logistics team.

The actual city part of Hinwil was only about one fifth of the whole city. The rest of it was just large green land.

Hinwil had 1 C-rank gate, 5 D-rank gates, 9 E-rank gates and 3 F-rank gates.

Since there was only a small association branch with only a few strong awakened and a couple separate strong awakened teams, they could only focus on the lower ranked gates while keeping the higher ranked ones in check.

Lucas met with the branch leader before heading for the C-rank gate and splitting up with his avatars.

***

Lucas and his avatars cleared all gates except for two F-rank ones since the association branch in Hinwil wanted to keep them.

They were done in slightly more than an hour.

Lucas could now clear a C-rank gate by himself and his avatars were powerful as well, so clearing the lower ranked gates took even less time.

Lucas still had to give his everything though.

Even with his strength, killing 100 C-rank monsters and 1 B-rank monster was tiring.

But sadly Lucas didn't get any rewards anymore for clearing the C-rank gate.

He was still happy to get exp though.

Also, Arthur reached level 16.

William reached level 15 and his two D-rank skills related to poison upgraded to C-rank.

Elara also reached level 15 and now all her skills were D-rank, but she was still E-rank.

Those three were the only ones to level up and Lucas now had 27 avatar points.

Lucas decided that he would evolve Albert and Elara to D-rank for 20 avatar points in total.

Albert's smithing skill was now C-rank and his crafting skill D-rank. His stats also all increased by ten, except for intelligence which increased by twenty.

Elara's stats also increased by a lot and her sword mastery skill was now C-rank plus she got the D-rank breathing technique skill.

Lucas planned to summon some lower ranked avatars later at home with his 7 remaining avatar points.

***

In the late evening.

Lucas was sitting in his office reading the reports on how the new teams and recruits did today.

Sadly no one reached level 10 today.

They all still did well in general.

After he finished reading all the reports and a short meeting with some department heads, Lucas went home.
