Chapter 174 - Chapter 174: Overlord Roaring Moon

"Finally… it's over."

After sealing the last few Guzzlord into Ultra Balls, Charles let out a long breath of relief. He had to admit—this was the first time he'd ever experienced what it felt like to nearly drain all his magical energy.

Most of the Guzzlord had already been destroyed; only a few remained, captured under his control. Those few, at least, he could afford to keep. After all, the Duplication Charm was a miraculous spell—one portion of food could become an endless supply.

"Next," he muttered, "it's time to change this environment."

Changing an ecosystem wasn't easy work. Spells could help, yes, but large-scale enchantments consumed enormous amounts of magical energy.

Luckily, he had just the right Pokémon for the task.

—Grimer and Koffing!

Of course, the ordinary versions of those Pokémon were not particularly powerful, nor were they effective at purification. The real environmental heroes were their regional variants—Alolan Grimer and Galarian Weezing.

Both species had played crucial roles in purifying their respective regions. Galarian Weezing, in particular, absorbed toxic gases and released clean air through the chimneys on its heads—practically a living filtration plant.

Charles hadn't unlocked either of these variants in his Pokédex yet, but that wasn't a major concern. Pokémon forms could change depending on the environment from which their traits were extracted.

After all, the first Grimer introduced to Alola had been the normal form—it evolved into its regional variant over time.

The Breeding House incubators showed that these two species could be bred in large numbers. The only reason Charles hadn't done so earlier was that ordinary Grimer were just too smelly. Now, though, this was the perfect opportunity.

He immediately returned to the Nature Reserve and brought a large number of Grimer and Koffing into the Ultra Building's world.

As soon as they arrived, the Pokémon acted as though they'd found paradise, joyfully devouring garbage and absorbing toxic gases.

Charles had considered bringing some Swalot and Garbodor as well, but although those two Pokémon were similarly unappealing, they lacked the same environmental-cleansing capability. So, he dismissed that idea.

Of course, Charles didn't idle around while his Pokémon worked. Relying solely on them to purify the wasteland would take ages—but with his magical assistance, the process could move much faster.

He began by casting the Fog Conjuring Charm, gathering massive clouds overhead. That part wasn't difficult—recent flames had already drawn up most of the surface moisture, leaving the sky heavy and ripe for rain.

However, the clouds weren't dark gray—they were a sickly yellowish brown.

Rain from those clouds would be highly corrosive acid rain. Once it fell, the land would become even more barren, unable to sustain life.

Seeing this, Charles quickly cast several wide-area Purification Charms into the sky, then pointed his wand toward the dust-filled ground. Instantly, pure water began to pour down in sheets!

Across the vast desert, the sand began to clump together, forming soil that softened under the rainfall.

Charles stood alone beneath the endless black clouds as lightning roared and tore through the heavens above him.At that moment, he seemed so small—and yet, in another sense, this vast, awe-inspiring scene was his own creation.

"Once enough time passes, I can bring over Pokémon that resist toxins and have Grass typing," he mused.

The Bulbasaur line, the Oddish line, the Bellsprout line, and the Roselia line would all be suitable choices. Beyond that, there were pure Grass-types like Cacnea and Maractus, which could adapt to desert climates while helping to transform them.

"Thankfully, the Ultra Building world is much smaller than the real one. Otherwise, even my power wouldn't be enough to reshape it."

In truth, this world's planet was scarcely larger than the Moon, and its total land area was roughly equivalent to the Alola region—about the size of Great Britain when all four main islands were combined, with the rest covered by sea.

Now that the Guzzlord were gone, this world's ecosystem could finally begin to heal.

With everything set in motion, all that remained was to let time do its work.

"I wonder," Charles murmured, "are the other Ultra Worlds about the same size as this one?"

Beyond the Ultra Building, there were several others: the Ultra Power Plant, Ultra Forest, Ultra Desert, Ultra Deep Sea, Ultra Canyon, Ultra Jungle, Ultra Megalopolis, and the Ultra Space Zero Zone.

The first six were homes to various Ultra Beasts. Ultra Megalopolis, on the other hand, was the home of the Ultra Recon Squad—a world of advanced science that had lost its light to Necrozma. The Ultra Space Zero Zone, meanwhile, connected to the dwellings of different legendary Pokémon.

"When the Ultra Building world—oh, forget it. Let's just call it Alola…"

After all, this world was essentially the future ruin of Alola. From now on, Charles decided he would simply refer to it as such.

"Once Alola's ecosystem recovers, it can become a new Pokémon world. But there's no need to dismantle the Nature Reserve at Hogwarts."

Originally, he'd planned to move the entire reserve to Alola. But on second thought, keeping it at Hogwarts would make a perfect outdoor classroom for the students. The club activities they'd had before were nothing compared to real wilderness training.

Even The Pokémon Encyclopedia had been updated with new information—so how could his teaching methods possibly stay outdated?

"And there's no need to build public reserves for other schools anymore. Once the new Pokémon Studies teachers determine which young wizards are qualified to own Pokémon, we'll just arrange for them to visit."

But the moment Charles returned from the Ultra Wormhole, something felt off.

The Roaring Moon that had carried him back was now enveloped in a strange, overwhelming aura.

"Is that… an Ultra Aura?"

For most people, that term might be confusing.

But if he called it what it truly was—a Totem Pokémon Aura—it would make perfect sense.

The aura didn't directly boost a Pokémon's base stats, but long-term exposure to it caused significant growth in size and power. In essence, it placed the Pokémon in a state of constant enhancement.
