Chapter 1 - 1. A New Beginning

**Derrrtt** (phone vibration)

"Hello, Mom..." greeted Liana, a 21-year-old girl who had just celebrated her graduation from university.

"Honey, where are you? I've been worried since you haven't called..." said Liana's mother, anxiously waiting for her daughter's news.

Liana smiled softly. "Don't worry, Mom. I just arrived at the apartment. Everything is fine."

"Oh, thank God. Don't forget to eat well, and don't overwork yourself," her mother said with concern.

"I will, Mom. I'll take care of myself. Don't worry," Liana replied with a smile. "I'll call again once everything is settled here, okay?"

"Of course, dear. Remember, I'm always here for you. Don't hesitate to share anything," her mother said lovingly.

After ending the call, Liana looked around her new apartment. She felt excited and a little nervous about living independently. But her renewed enthusiasm for pursuing her passion in fashion gave her courage.

"This is a new beginning for me. I need to be even more passionate moving forward," Liana said with determination.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, David was attending to patients in his room as usual. After a while, a child ran toward him, shouting.

"Daddy!" exclaimed a small boy, sobbing as he ran to him.

"Rey, what's wrong? Shouldn't you be at school now?" David asked, confused by what was happening with his son.

"Daddy, I don't want to go to that school anymore. It's full of little kids. I want to go straight to kindergarten," Rey said innocently.

"What do you mean? Before entering kindergarten, you need to learn the basics at that school first," David tried to explain.

"I can already read and write, Daddy. Why can't I go to kindergarten right away?" Rey insisted, trying to persuade his father to let him attend kindergarten even though he was still too young.

Soon, someone ran into David's office. It was Uncle Will, David's right-hand man tasked with looking after Rey.

"Young master Rey, why are you running so fast? I'm way behind!" Will panted after chasing Rey.

"Uncle Will, don't follow me next time. I'm already big," Rey said with a cute, defiant face.

"You may be 'big,' but you don't look big at all just adorable," a patient in the room commented.

Hearing this, David exchanged a glance with Will. They knew Rey hated being called small.

"I'm not small! And if you notice, auntie should get anti-wrinkle treatment. How dare she call me small!" Rey said angrily.

The patient, surprised by Rey's reaction, was taken aback. David quickly apologized on Rey's behalf.

"S-sorry about him. He never thinks before speaking," David said humbly.

"Rey, apologize to her. That's not a good way to behave," David added.

"I don't want to… I'm not wrong, Dad," Rey insisted.

"Why are you so stubborn? Apologize now, or I won't grant your wishes," David said firmly.

"Ah… it's fine. He probably didn't mean it. He doesn't need to apologize to me," the kind patient replied.

"Alright, I'll leave now to get this medicine. Thank you for the treatment, Doctor. Excuse me," the patient said and left.

After the patient left, David looked at Rey, unable to scold him. Rey's face reminded him of his late older brother.

"Okay… tell me why you don't want to go to that school anymore," David said, trying to remain patient.

"Daddy, the little kids always ask me, 'Where's your mom? Why is it always Uncle Will bringing you and not your mom? Does she hate me because I'm naughty?'" Rey sobbed slightly.

David was unsure how to respond. He also didn't understand why all this was happening.

Seeing David freeze, Rey realized his father wouldn't answer.

"Daddy… I knew you wouldn't say anything. It's better if I just leave now. Come on, Uncle Will, Dad always goes silent when I ask about Mom. Who knows what he's thinking," Rey said, frustrated that his father wouldn't reveal the truth.

"Young master, but…" Uncle Will hesitated, watching Rey leave first.

"Follow his wishes, Uncle Will. Don't leave him alone," David quietly instructed.

"Y-yes, sir. Excuse me," Will said, following him out.

In the car…

"Young master, where shall we go now? I can take you home," Uncle Will tried to persuade Rey.

"No, Uncle. Let's go to Aunt Juliy's. I want her cooking," Rey insisted.

"But young master, the chef at home cooks better. Why go to auntie's place?" Will tried to convince him.

"Uncle Will, don't you like me coming? Aunt Juliy always says, 'Come again, dear Rey.' I want to go there!" Rey whined.

"Alright, if that's what young master wants, we'll go," Will said, resigned.

"Hooray! I can eat anything I want there!" Rey cheered.

Meanwhile, Liana had just moved all her belongings to her sixth-floor apartment unit. She finally felt at ease, only needing to bring everything inside.

"I won't be able to rest if my things aren't inside yet. So exhausting," Liana muttered.

A lift arrived at the sixth floor. The doors opened, and a woman came out. She turned out to be Liana's neighbor.

"Hi! Hello, how are you? Do you live in the unit next door?" she asked.

"Y-yes. I'm Liana, I just moved in today. Nice to meet you, ma'am," Liana replied warmly.

"Oh, wonderful! It's great to have a new neighbor, especially someone young like you. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask. We're neighbors, after all," Aunt Juliy said kindly.

"Thank you so much, ma'am," Liana said.

Meanwhile, Rey and Uncle Will finally arrived at Aunt Juliy's apartment building.

"Uncle Will, hurry up! I'm hungry!" Rey said impatiently.

"Yes, young master. Be patient, but promise me, don't eat recklessly. If you get sick, I'll have to explain it to your father," Uncle Will said patiently.

"Okay, Uncle," Rey replied sweetly.

When the lift doors opened at the sixth floor, Rey ran straight to Aunt Juliy's room. Unaware, he almost collided with a stack of boxes that were leaning and about to fall.

"Young master, watch out!" shouted Uncle Will.

"Mommy!" Rey screamed, seeing the boxes falling.

"Watch out!" Liana shouted, reacting quickly to protect Rey.

She shielded Rey with her body, ensuring he was safe.

"Ahh!" Liana cried as the top box, containing her yoga and exercise equipment, fell on her back.

Uncle Will rushed over to check on Rey.

"Young master, are you okay? I could have died if something happened to you!" he exclaimed.

"I'm fine, Uncle, but that lady… she saved me!" Rey said, pointing to Liana.

"Yes, miss, are you okay?" Uncle Will asked, checking on her.

"I'm fine. Just a little pain in my back from the fall. Nothing serious," Liana replied, slightly worried.

"Young master is fine thanks to you. Thank you so much," Uncle Will said.

Soon, Aunt Juliy opened the door.

"What happened? Are you all okay?" she asked, concerned.

"Yes, we're fine. Please take Rey inside; he must still be shocked," Uncle Will said.

"Yes… let's go, Rey. You must be hungry," Aunt Juliy said, holding Rey's hand.

"But… that lady, will she be okay?" Rey asked softly.

"Yes, she'll be fine," Aunt Juliy answered briefly.

Meanwhile…

"Miss, are you really okay? Should I take you to the hospital?" Uncle Will asked.

"No… it's okay. I'll be fine after applying ice. It's not serious," Liana said, slightly hesitant.

"Alright… thank God. If anything happens, call me. We're neighbors, so just call me or my wife," Uncle Will said, giving her his phone number.

"Okay… thank you," Liana said, accepting the number.
