When BB had gotten to the lands of the post office, he quickly realized something. Technically, I've been missing for twenty years. Okay, so we break in.
"Sugar, can you go retrieve Scott?"
"What?"
"I believe you heard me just fine."
Scott wasn't mentally sane, but he was the most innocent looking of them. It was either that or Sugar had to show up looking like a starved child.
"Come on, why would you ever expect this?"
"Because then you'll be let go. Just go in there and distract the workers like say you're hurt or something. Make it long enough for us to get in and out."
"Are you sure about this?"
"Yeah, just go on in."
BB had a small smirk on his face. So some kind of pandemic ravaged this world and had killed Lighter. That explains the masks.
"Sir, my parents are gone."
"What?"
The man at the post office was in his thirties and bored. Which made him a perfect victim for Scott
"My parents. They pulled over their car and just left me here."
"That's so sad. How about you wait back here whilst I make a few calls."
Whilst Scott was occupying the front, BB and Sugar had snuck into the post office and were opening the PO box.
"You're going to have to pick the lock."
"Why me?"
"Well, look at my hands."
Those are some bony fingers. In his later years and with his hands in their state, BB could barely lift his hands above his head.
"Alright fine but show me how to do it."
He gave the boy a booby pin and a paperclip.
"It goes like this, you just move the bobby pin in there and you'll be done."
"That is barely any detail."
"You know what? I've changed my mind."
Using his psychic abilities, he pulled the box out of the wall and soon found out that there was a light inside. It was bright and blinded BB and Sugar before it latched onto Sugar's chest and disappeared.
"What was that?"
"I have no clue."
Sugar may have been the runt of the litter, but he was still smart. He hadn't really used his mind that much on this adventure. Though, he never really cared for the adventure. Call me shortsighted but I only want a few things in this life, I want a quiet and life and to find a place where I can go dancing with Lia. Yeah, that would be nice. I want to go dancing with her. Make it a date.
"Can we get out of here before the cops come?"
"Not a problem, I have Lia making some ruckus with her hounds at a grocery store."
"You're a clever old fox, aren't you?"
"That's what they say. Now I'm going to tell you something."
BB's face went from being in a good mood to him being elated. This reminded him of his life before becoming a leader in Backtown.
"Seems today's been good for you. Going to Babylon and such."
BB did feel grief over the loss of his baby brother, but he also felt joy in the doing of helping his new family. He was a complicated person at heart.
"Well, my brother was a man with an ability. He could control people. It had some rules, but I don't remember them."
Suddenly, an illusion appeared in Sugar's head, and he heard a relaxed voice like one of the popular kids at school.
"Rule 1: The ability allows the user to suggest things in the minds of others.
Rule 2: Those who have received suggestions cannot ignore it unless the order brakes other rules.
Rule 3: In order to use suggestion, one must have met the user, and both must retain memory of it in order for it to work.
Rule 4: Those affected can't directly assist or interact with the user whilst affected. If they do, the order immediately ceases, and the user will die.
Rule 5: As long as it follows the rules, they will forget the time whilst affected. If the suggestion breaks the rules, the order will feel like a random thought.
Rule 6: All demands must be physically possible for the one carrying them out. If not, the order will be ignored."
"Hello?"
"What do you have there?"
"A voice just told me some rules. To this ability that he says I have."
"Looks like we have a way of saving Scott."
