Scott was watching the news. BB had told him that Sugar was either in New Chicago because he'd been there before, Backtown because he had known the historical significance, and Los Angeles because that was where BB had the showdown with him and Scott before appearing again on the ODETTA.
"We would like to interrupt the regularly scheduled material with a breaking story; a runaway helps a runaway in the latest story from a small town in Appalachia. A young boy who himself ran away from his family life had found himself back in his family's care but came across another runaway named Sarah Siegen. Siegen had asked the boy to a late-night movie sighting and before the showing, he alerted authorities. More at eight o'clock."
A picture came onto the screen as the man continued to talk. The boy was Sugar. He had some scratches, sure, but Scott had found him. Without wasting a second, he swiped up the rest of his money from the Blue Street heist and left a note from Sears to find when he and BB got back from their training. Right before leaving, he shot the T.V. before leaving just in case they came home to a rerun. BB tasked him with not telling anybody about it.
"Don't worry bud, I'm on the way!"
As he screamed that in the car, he heard a rustling noise in the back. Immediately, he slammed on the brakes and pulled a gun on whoever was in the back. Upon further inspection, he could see that who was in fact a they, they was in fact Alexandria and Lia. The two had seen forth to what was to come next. Alexandria was curious as to what Sugar was like. Lia wanted to reunite with her missed friend.
"Why do you always want to shoot things?"
"I… don't know. But you shouldn't sneak into the back of a car!"
Lia tried to fix herself up right since she was laying on her back on the floor. Alexandria was in the trunk. She wasn't doing as much talking as Lia. Partially because of the fact that nobody could hear her and with her accent, she was already hard to understand.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to grab groceries."
"Bull."
Scott was on the verge of throwing these two out of the car using his mind abilities. He needed to find a way to convince these two to leave. But alas, he wasn't BB. He told the truth.
"I'm going to find Sugar."
BB and Sears had been going back and forth with Yeager for some time now. Their new task was to defeat him in combat. Two on one. All weapons allowed. BB used knives and his mind abilities whilst Sears used guns and what little magic he had picked up on.
"Now that's a nice spell. You have the conviction but your soul is very small."
"I still don't understand any of it."
Yeager lowered his gun. He was going to find something that would help him lose the duel.
"See, magic comes from the soul. The more you use magic, the more powerful it gets. It can be funneled out through spells. Or you can simply use it to physically enhance yourself."
"I understand."
"I don't."
"Well, you can't help all of them. Just fight me."
Yeager drew his gun and fired in Sears's direction. BB used his find to move the bullet further away, but it left him wide open for a bullet heading his own direction. Sears had learned a spell that would allow him to make small fires. He lit the part of Yeager's jeans that met his boots aflame and soon enough, they were fighting a cowboy in his underwear. Yeager still won. But when BB had reached into the ashes and pulled out his wallet, he accidentally opened it and saw that the name Jeager was actually spelt with a Y instead of J.
"Why is your name spelt like that?"
"Well, I've been a citizen of this nation ever since I was born, eighteen thirty-two. But during the second world war, I changed my name from Jaeger to Yeager to seem more American."
"Did it work?"
"Yes."
BB had so many questions for the pantsless cowboy but managed to hold himself back quite well. It would be a long and quiet drive back to the cabin. Sears hated talking to him. For a time, Sears loved BB as if he was his own son. But now, he was a traitor who stuck around. He used his DNA to create imitations of people. That kind of thing can't be undone.
"What should we eat for dinner?"
"I'm going to be having deep fried lobster."
"Really? Do you mind if I join you?"
"Yes. As a matter of fact, I do."
Sears dropped BB off, and went and enjoyed his deep fried lobster. It wasn't good. He believed it possible that someone put red food coloring on fried chicken. BB didn't get dinner. He rarely ate real food. Mostly just sweets and water.
"The T.V. is broken. Scott must have found something."
BB made a look through the house to see if Alexandria was in the cabin. But no, it was just Joey. He was more miserable than usual and didn't care to cry. He simply stared at the wall.
"What do you want?"
"To talk."
That was a lie. BB was bored and wanted to talk to Joey because he had nothing better to do.
"I don't want to."
"If you want, I can make you a glass of water."
BB did so. He added in a straw and a hint of lime to help him calm down.
"Just tell me what's going on."
