Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

Chapter 5

You know that I said that I did not think that Daniel was loaded, right? Well, I think he either had a really good job or he was doing something illegal.

Because the car that I was in right now, being taken to the CEO's villa, belonged to him. And it was a very fancy and luxurious one that seemed like it would cost a fortune. This car alone could pay my rent my months, and feed me too.

He did not come alone but had only wished me luck and given me his number to call him incase of anything. My heart thumped in my chest and I kept staring outside, trying to calm my nerves but nothing was working.

Just a day or two ago, I was working my butt off in that low-rating restaurant while drowning myself in alcohol almost every night just so I could be able to fall asleep and have some peace. Now, here I was, in the back of this expensive car, with one goal in mind—revenge.

But I remembered that Daniel had told me to take it slow. He wanted me to confirm that the CEO really was the one who had killed my boyfriend. And I was okay with that, but it was going to take way more out of me.

We finally arrived and the fancy automated gates were opened as the driver drove us into the huge compound. There was even a fountain here and the structure that stood there was jaw-dropping.

How could one person live in a house this huge and extravagant? He was not married and did not even have kids! I could only imagine the number of rooms in there. Did he not feel lonely?

Then it struck me, that maybe that was why he made sure to get girls to come over every night so he would not be alone. I guess that made sense, but the real truth here was that none of that was going to help anyway.

The car came to a stop and I exhaled deeply, playing with my fingers nervously. "We're here," The driver said in a polite tone as the doors unlocked.

I lingered in the backseat for a few long seconds before I finally built up the courage to opened the door and get out. The moon sat in the sky and my heels clicked on the ground tiles as I stepped out.

I could feel a few eyes on me, but most of them were workers.

I closed the door and then walked with confidence. I needed to play the role that I had been given. I could not afford to f*ck up.

When I reached the front door, a huge guy stood there with a bald head. "Are you Claire?" He asked.

"Yes, I am," I replied to him smoothly, hiding my nerves.

"Would it be okay for me to do a quick search?" He eyed me.

"It's fine," I said softly, lifting my hands up gracefully as he checked me. After a few seconds, he was done. He pulled away.

"You're all done, thank you." He flashed me a small smile before opening the door for me. I nodded at him and then walked into the house.

And wow, I was blown away. It felt like I had entered a whole new world of luxury and riches. Everything in here screamed, "I'm a billionaire!" It was all so fancy and perfect. I felt like I was in a castle if I was being honest.

It seemed comical yet sad that there were people living lives like this while others suffered and could not even get their daily bread.

"There she is," A voice startled me. "Sh*t, your pictures didn't lie, you're hot as f*ck!" It was Damion, and he was shirtless. His chest was perfectly chiseled and his abs were sculpted. He made his way over to me and his perfect dark hair bounced a bit with each step that he took.

Seeing him in person took my breath away. The man was not just powerful and rich, he was really attractive and looked like a Greek god! How could someone look so perfect?

"Hi," I managed to say, my face already heating up due to me being flustered. I got that way when I was nervous, but also when I was around really attractive people.

When he had closed the distance between us, he placed his arm around my waist and pulled me close to him. "Hi to you too," He chuckled the words out, and I could immediately tell that he was either high as a kite right now or drunk.

I was going to choose him being high because there was no smell of alcohol on him, instead, he smelled heavenly.

"Where are we going?" I asked him, trying to keep up my little act as he led me away from the entrance and towards the staircase.

"To a little party I'm throwing up there," He replied, winking at me, causing my heart to skip a beat.

I forced a smile at him, but deep inside, the nerves was turning into annoyance, if not anger. He was the man who had taken away my boyfriend from me, I had to remember who he was and why I was here.

When we reached upstairs, I could hear loud music playing and spotted a door open. He led me there, never taking his hand from my waist, almost as if he felt like he owned me. The moment we entered the extravagant bedroom, he shut the door and finally released my waist.

He went to a table that seemed to be very messy before he grabbed a small ziplock bag, opened it up, and walked back to me. "Take this," He said as he handed me a small pill.

I doubled back. "What is it, and why?" I frowned.

"Just take it, Claire." He tried to force it in my mouth. "That's your name, right? Trust me, this will make you go for hours."

My heart was pounding in my chest as I stared at the pill in his hand. Was I willing to do this? Was I willing to go this far for justice for what was done to my boyfriend?
