DRAVEN'S POV.

I reached the end of the hall, where her chamber door stood slightly ajar. The light spilled into the corridor. I could hear her humming softly to herself, unaware that I was there. My hand lifted to the doorframe before I realized what I was doing.

Just to see her. Just to make sure she was breathing.

The wolf's voice rumbled deep in my chest. Touchher.

"No," I growled under my breath.

She's calling to you. She wants you.

"She doesn't understand."

The mark flared, white-hot beneath my ribs. I bit down on a groan, clutching at my chest. The pain ripped through me like lightning. My breath came out ragged. I staggered back, knocking into the wall. My control snapped like thin glass.

The shift hit me so fast I barely had time to brace for it—bones stretching, claws breaking through skin, eyes burning with the wolf's gold light.
