Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Capturing Rayquaza, System Rewards!

Of course, after getting a Tier-One Legendary Rayquaza that would inevitably dominate the skies in the future, Basil was naturally thrilled!

But his only concern right now? He genuinely couldn't afford to raise this little guy.

Looks like he really needed to start earning money for resources!

Otherwise, having a Tier-One Legendary would be pointless. He needed to level it up—or else even an Elite-level Butterfree could hand this little guy its butt on a silver platter!

This little guy had just been born, and since Basil was the first person it saw, it seemed to think of him as its father.

That's probably why the affection was so high.

Then this little guy started coiling around Basil's head, and green light began to glow...

Seeing this, Basil's mouth twitched. He grabbed Rayquaza and pulled it down, speaking to it seriously.

"Rayquaza, remember—you can't coil around my head from now on. That's off-limits for a man!"

Actually, newborn Pokemon usually go through an infant stage, but Rayquaza's eggshell contained immense energy!

Combined with it being a Tier-One Legendary, after eating its own eggshell, it skipped the infant stage entirely and reached level ten!

This meant Basil could take this little guy out to train and level up!

However, this was still a Tier-One Legendary. If he paraded around with it while training, people would definitely covet it!

Basil understood the old truth—treasure draws thieves.

Earlier, while browsing trending news, Basil had seen a Top Grade potential pseudo-legendary cause a feeding frenzy, ultimately resulting in casualties!

If he walked around with a Legendary-tier Rayquaza, even Champions and Elite Four members would want to take it!

Therefore, he absolutely had to hide this little guy. No one could know about it—not until he had the strength to handle any situation!

Yeah, what he lacked was still strength.

Thinking of this, Basil pulled out the Master Ball from the system's Beginner Gift Package and set it down with a click in front of little Rayquaza.

The Master Ball's exterior was purple and white—half purple, half white—with an "M" symbol on top.

This Poke Ball was called the Ultimate Ball, meaning it could capture any Pokemon—even Legendary Pokemon!

Then Basil looked at little Rayquaza and said:

"Little guy, I need to capture you now. You're too rare—keeping you out would cause unnecessary trouble. You'll have to stay in the Poke Ball for now!"

After saying that, little Rayquaza nodded with half-understanding, then Basil pressed the Master Ball!

The next moment, little Rayquaza transformed into red light and entered the Master Ball!

Afterward, the Master Ball shook once, then stopped with a crisp click—signifying that Basil had captured Rayquaza!

Whether in the games he played in his previous life or after his rebirth, this was Basil's first time personally handling a Poke Ball—and his first time capturing a Pokemon!

Not to mention, he'd captured a Tier-One Legendary that even Champions didn't have—Rayquaza—even if this Rayquaza was still just a hatchling!

At the same time, when Basil captured Rayquaza with the system-issued Poke Ball, Rayquaza instantly transferred from the Master Ball into the System Storage!

This place was an ideal sanctuary for nurturing Pokemon!

The System Storage generated the most suitable environment for each Pokemon's rapid growth—surely one of Basil's trump cards!

"I CAUGHT A RAYQUAZA!!!" When no one was around, Basil indulged in a rare moment of childish excitement, striking a pose before releasing Rayquaza with an excited expression!

After all, this little guy had just been born—it needed food to promote growth!

Just then, right after Basil captured Rayquaza, the system voice rang out in his mind again!

--

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for capturing your first Pokemon. Reward: Great Ball ×6, Energy Cubes ×1 Box (suitable for Dragon/Flying-type Pokemon)!]

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for capturing your first Legendary Pokemon. Reward: Super Luck Card ×1, System Shop unlocked—use Pokedollars to exchange for rare Shop resources!]

--

After two consecutive system notifications, Basil was overjoyed!

Whatever he needed, the system provided—this luck was absolutely incredible!

Little did he know, the Divine Luck Card was influencing him. Otherwise, would Rayquaza—a Tier-One Legendary protecting Earth—really fail to find its own child?

As for the newly unlocked System Shop, it contained numerous rare treasures—whether Mega Evolution stones, Master Balls, Rare Candies—everything was available!

But the prices? Absolutely insane. For now, Basil could only drool over them.

...

Shaking off those thoughts, Basil pulled out the box of Energy Cubes and handed them to little Rayquaza.

"Little guy, eat up and grow strong—I'm counting on you in the future!"

When Basil said this, little Rayquaza seemed to understand. It grinned and began devouring the Dragon/Flying-type Energy Cubes with big bites!

Based on current market prices for Energy Cubes, just this one box—enough to feed an ordinary Pokemon for a month—cost a whopping 30,000 Pokedollars!

Not to mention, this was exclusive to Dragon-types—the price would double!

And system-produced items were premium quality—the price would easily exceed 100,000 Pokedollars. Even in the Pokemon world, an average family only earned 10,000 Pokedollars a month!

Yet a Dragon-type Pokemon's monthly Energy Cubes alone cost 30,000 Pokedollars!

So even wanting to become a trainer required a family with decent means!

According to a Forbes survey, despite a global population nearing ten billion, only a few hundred million actually became trainers!

And going further, Elite-level trainers? There weren't many at all!

So even though schools distributed starter Pokemon, most students ultimately didn't become trainers!

...

Watching the little guy happily devour Energy Cubes—polishing off a quarter of a month's worth in the blink of an eye before burping contentedly!

Basil panicked!

"Holy crap, I really can't afford to raise this thing!"
