Chapter 146 - Chapter 39: Capturing Wormtail 2

"Hmm?" Fred paused for a moment: "Why are we looking at Ron's dorm? Mum didn't ask us to tuck him in at night!"

"Do you know Peter Pettigrew?" Vid asked again.

George thought for a moment, and asked, "Who is that?"

"Come with me." Vid said.

They moved to an empty classroom, and Vid unfolded the Marauder's Map and said, "You can see for yourselves."

The twin brothers exchanged a glance, and George tapped the parchment with his magic wand and said, "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!"

The contents of the map began to unfold layer by layer, and the Weasleys immediately focused their eyes on the Gryffindor Common Room, carefully discerning the tiny letters.

This was a part they wouldn't usually pay attention to.

Soon, they found their brother and sister—Ron and Ginny were both in the common room, along with a few familiar names.

Then they moved on to the dormitory.

Neville Longbottom was in the dormitory, and then there was Peter Pettigrew...

Fred frowned and said, "Who's this guy? Why is he in Ron's dormitory?"

"Not just in Ron's dorm," Vid added, "At night, their dots are very close together. I think he should be on Ron's bed."

The twins' pupils shook violently, and they stared at each other, speechless for quite a while.

"Peter Pettigrew... that sounds like a man's name?" George said, his face pale.

"Haha... Ronnie found a boyfriend?" Fred said dryly.

The two brothers looked at each other, almost unable to make their usual jokes.

Of course, they didn't really believe that their brother had found an unknown boyfriend, sharing a bed every night, and yet had never been discovered by anyone.

But if they ruled out this absurd possibility... then the truth would be even scarier!

"Let's go see!"

Fred decided on the spot.

He glanced at the map again, took a deep breath, and headed towards Gryffindor Tower.

"Wait." Vid stopped them, handing over a potion bottle: "Life and Death Potion... don't know what that guy's power is, better be cautious."

George took the potion bottle, grasped it tightly, and nodded silently.

No matter which house's common room it was, they were not welcoming to students from other houses. Vid waited near the common room's entrance, watching the progress with the Marauder's Map.

There was no eagle-shaped door ring requiring answers at the entrance of the Gryffindor Common Room, but a portrait of the Fat Lady.

She was drunk, and opened the door to let them in after Fred uttered the password.

The common room had quite a few people in it.

Lee Jordan greeted the Weasley twins warmly, but saw they only waved back at him, seemingly preoccupied.

"What's wrong with them?" Lee Jordan asked his friend beside him.

"Probably a cold, right?" another student casually said, "Look, their ears are even smoking!"

Ron was playing Wizard's Chess with his dorm mate Dean, engrossed in the battle, not noticing someone had entered.

Climbing the stairs, alone in private, Fred whispered, "George, I feel the name Peter Pettigrew sounds familiar. Do you remember where you heard about it?"

George frowned in thought for a moment, then shook his head: "Nothing comes to mind."

"Must be a long time ago... I'm sure I've heard someone mention it." Fred said, his face heavy.

"Once we catch him, we'll ask." George said.

They found Ron's dormitory; the door wasn't locked, and a push opened it.

Neville was sitting on the carpet maintaining his magic wand, but when he heard the door open, he looked up and was stunned.

"Uh… Did I go to the wrong dormitory?" He looked around in confusion.

No mistake... it was indeed his bed, his dormitory...

"Afternoon we play battle royale, Neville?" Fred said casually, his eyes searching around: "Bring Ron… are any of your dorm mates around?"

"They might be in the common room? Harry seems to have gone to the library…" Neville scratched his head and asked, "Has the rain stopped?"

"It will stop in the afternoon." George replied casually.

Neville saw the two brothers not even glance at him, but instead flank Ron's bed, and couldn't help but remind again: "Ron isn't in the dormitory."

"Oh oh, we'll take his heroic rat with us. Ron needs it, right?"

Fred said offhandedly, as he lifted the blanket piled on Ron's bed.

A dirty sock fell to the floor.

A gray, sparsely-haired rat curled up in a small nest made of an old towel at the head of the bed, sleeping.

But when George reached out to grab it, it jumped out suddenly, stood at the headboard, and stared at the two with its beady black eyes.

Fred quickly scanned the vicinity of the bed, besides this rat, there were no other creatures, not even extra insects.

His heart sank suddenly.

"Come on, Scabbers! We'll take you to the game field, avenge Ron." Fred said in a slightly deliberate tone.

George, behind his back, quietly opened the Life and Death Potion.

The rat, Scabbers, dumbly sat on the headboard, seeming not to understand what they were saying. Fred suddenly pointed his magic wand at it—

"Petrificus Totalus!"

Bang!

The spell hit the wall, and Scabbers jumped out first. George quickly threw out the Life and Death Potion, yet was a step too slow.

The crystal bottle shattered with a "bang," and Neville, who was about to speak, smelled a strange scent.

"Catch it!" George shouted.

The rat darted through the door.

Neville shook his head, feeling a bit dizzy, and by the time he regained his senses, the room was already empty.

The Weasley brothers "thump thump thump" ran quickly down the stairs, casting spells as they went.

But the small rat was far more agile than they were, dodging every spell, and escaping straight into the common room.

Everyone stared in astonishment at the Weasley twins.

"Smash!"

A spell hit the vase on the cabinet by the wall, shattering it.

"Fred, George! You violated school rules!" Percy shouted angrily: "No casting spells recklessly in the common room, I'll dock points!"

"Stop talking nonsense, catch that rat!" Fred shouted.

"Rat?" Ron discovered that it was his pet Scabbers being chased by his brothers, and asked in surprise, "What's wrong with Scabbers? Even if it bit and ruined your stuff, it's just a rat!"

He reached out to block his brothers, just as someone opened the common room door, and Scabbers zipped through the entrance and fled.

"Wait! Hold on!"

The chaos of the Weasleys made the common room a jumble, and the ones chasing the rat were dumped into a mud pit one by one.

Vid fed the unconscious rat the Life and Death Potion, then placed it into a glass jar sealed with the Unbreakable Charm, and watched the disheveled gang, sighing deeply.

Harry, who had just opened the common room door with the password, asked in confusion, "What happened?"
