Kael
There was a sudden shift in the atmosphere and a slow movement of the decoration above me forced my senses to be at alert.
At first, I thought it was just the music changing, or maybe the crowd moving, but then I saw it; one of the chandeliers swayed a little too hard, like something had hit the wall above it.
Then the glass cracked.
That was when I knew. It was happening.
"Be in your positions," I said into the comm. "Now."
Everything moved fast.
The crowd turned toward the main doors as they burst open. A group of masked men in black stormed in, pushing past the guards.
"Go!" I barked.
I was already moving before anyone else. The guards tried to form a line in front of her, but they were slow.
The attackers spread fast, blending perfectly into the panic.
They weren't here to cause a scene. They were here for her. And the bastard behind all of this was watching from somewhere close. I didn't have to look to know who it was.
Varyn.
