Chapter 47 - Chapter Forty Seven

Cleo's lips brushed against mine before I could even think.

I pushed her back immediately, my breath catching, and my pulse running wild, not because I wanted her, but because I hated how easily she forced herself onto me. 

"Stop it, Cleo."

She smiled, that infuriating curve of her mouth that always looked like she was mocking me.

"You didn't stop me the last time." Her tone was light, teasing, and it only aggravated me further. 

"That was a mistake," I said flatly, wiping the corner of my mouth as if to erase her touch.

"One that won't happen again now, leave my room this instant before I do something rash."

Her laugh was soft but I caught the faint bitterness in it. 

"You always say that. You think you can resist me, Kael, but you can't. You never could and we both know that. I've come back for you, Kael. We can make this work properly."

She stepped forward again, her perfume heavy in the air. I took a step back. "Don't."
