Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Cultivation Task

Monday, Ninja Academy, Year One, Class A classroom.

Class hasn't started yet, and only half the students are present in the classroom.

"Kotetsu, when are you going to introduce me to that cute girl you mentioned before?" Kamizuki Izumo couldn't help but ask Hagane Kotetsu.

Hagane Kotetsu grabbed Kamizuki Izumo by the neck, and said fiercely:

"You have the nerve to ask me to introduce you to a girl after that exam stunt where you pretended not to do well, but ended up scoring high. Messing around with your buddy is fun, huh?"

Kamizuki Izumo shouted innocence, explaining that it was an accident, just lucky, and that he only scored five points higher than Hagane Kotetsu.

Hagane Kotetsu finally let Kamizuki Izumo go but said introducing a girl would be difficult now.

Because his annoying cousin had spilled some embarrassing secrets about him to Mie recently, and he has no face to confront that now.

"Such a treacherous scoundrel, a rogue, a villain!" Kamizuki Izumo's face showed indignation.

"You're exaggerating a bit too much." Anko interjected from the side.

"And why do you want to meet girls? Aren't I a girl?" Anko asked, puzzled.

Kamizuki Izumo and Hagane Kotetsu fell silent, exchanging glances for a while, and finally, Kamizuki Izumo spoke:

"Anko, it's hard to explain to you, but as long as you know we're buddies, that's all that matters."

Girls? If Anko hadn't mentioned it, Kamizuki Izumo would have forgotten Anko was a girl.

But seriously, what kind of girl stands on a desk to shout to the whole class? Anko's behavior is more boyish than theirs, making it hard for Kamizuki Izumo to see her as a girl.

At this moment, Mokgetsu walked in.

"Teacher Habu, do you think I look like a girl?" Anko directly asked.

Mokgetsu smiled and nodded, saying, "Of course, you're a very cute girl."

Putting aside her behavior, little Anko was indeed a very cute girl.

Hearing Mokgetsu's response, Anko was very pleased and made a face at Hagane Kotetsu and Kamizuki Izumo.

Kamizuki Izumo, Hagane Kotetsu: ...

What kind of girl would directly ask such a question and then make a face afterward?

Soon, the ninjutsu theory class in the morning ended.

[Lecture Completed]

[Evaluation: A]

[Reward Received: Illusion Tree Binding Kill]

Mokgetsu immediately gained the learning memory and usage techniques for this B-level genjutsu in his mind.

"Another genjutsu, now I have two to give to Shisui." Mokgetsu nodded to himself.

Besides the Illusion Tree Binding Kill this time, he had previously earned a Naraku Observation Jutsu through lecturing.

The Tree Binding Kill's effect creates an illusion of being bound by trees, immobilizing the body but keeping the mind clear, usually used for questioning and gathering information.

The Naraku Observation Jutsu allows the opponent to see their deepest fears.

Though there were no classes in the afternoon, a teacher from Year Four, Class Six, asked him to substitute, and in that class, Mokgetsu discovered two ninjas from the storyline.

[Name: Shiranui Genma]

[Potential: A-]

[Name: Ebisu]

[Potential: B-]

This time, it was a ninjutsu class. Due to special circumstances, Year Four was already a graduating class, so Mokgetsu primarily taught the Clone Jutsu, which was generally tested for graduation.

"They were telling the truth, Teacher Habu really is an amazing instructor."

"It's good to know that the problem with clones isn't a flaw with this class. Fortunately, the Ninjutsu teacher was ill today, or we wouldn't have gotten to attend Teacher Habu's class."

"Can we transfer to Teacher Habu's class? Having a teacher like this every day, we'd never worry about mastering the three basic ninjutsu techniques."

"I'm afraid it's not possible. Teacher Habu seems to only teach a first-year class..."

Having systematically learned how to be a teacher and supported by instructive skills, along with significant knowledge about ninjas, Mokgetsu's teaching quality vastly surpassed that of a regular Chunin teacher.

The students of Year Four, Class Six, finally understood why those who had been taught by Mokgetsu praised him so highly. He was indeed impressive.

The students' abundant praise didn't make Mokgetsu feel smug.

Because he knew there were multiple reasons for this, one major reason being that the educational environment at the Ninja Academy was somewhat distorted.

What kind of ninja would come to teach at the Ninja Academy?

Mokgetsu didn't know about the future nor the past situations, but for the current Ninja Academy, only those ninjas who felt their abilities would never progress would come to teach.

The teacher's salary was sufficient to live comfortably in Konoha, but the gap was significant if one's goal was to support ninja cultivation and growing stronger.

This resulted in Ninja Academy teachers generally having average abilities and lacking ambition.

Anyone with ambition would already be taking on missions daily to earn money and work hard on their skills, not bothering with being a teacher at the ninja school.

Such teachers often couldn't be bothered with seriously researching teaching, mostly just killing time.

Mokgetsu had reason to believe that Konoha's higher-ups were also aware of the Academy's situation, perhaps even considering this when it was established, which explains the existence of team teachers.

Students would undergo small-group education after graduation.

But this wasn't much of Mokgetsu's concern since he was just a small teacher, and he could only ensure the quality of his own teachings.

[Evaluation: A]

[Reward Received: Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu]

Mokgetsu realized he had quite the affinity with the Great Fireball, as this was the third time he had received it.

Feeling the flood of cultivation memories in his head, Mokgetsu felt his skill with the Great Fireball should have reached system proficiency level.

...

After school, Mokgetsu gathered with his students at the training ground as usual.

"Teacher Mokgetsu, this is a once-in-a-lifetime request, please, you must agree!"

Before practice could start, Obito rushed up to Mokgetsu, put his hands together, and bowed in request.

"You haven't even told me your request, how can I agree?" Mokgetsu replied, puzzled about what Obito was up to.

"I want to ask you to teach me a truly impactful Fire Release technique so that I can win first place in the Young Ninja Competition!" Obito made his request.

Actually, Obito had participated in this competition before, thinking he could easily win first place with the Great Fireball, but unexpectedly encountered Kakashi, the prodigy, and lost first place.

Recently, Obito saw the competition being promoted again, and he decided to invite Kakashi to join the competition for another showdown.

However, Obito felt a bit insecure, thinking that while the Mighty Dragon Fire Jutsu was practical, it lacked visual impact, and his Great Fireball, which is written as great but felt more like a small one, was even worse.

But no worry, Obito trusted in Mokgetsu's abilities.

[Student Uchiha Obito set a cultivation task]

[Cultivation Task: Achieve First Place in the Young Ninja Competition]

[Reward: Determined by the mission's success and the growth in ability during the mission period]

Mokgetsu's system panel displayed three pop-ups.
