Just as Kakashi was walking nearby, he happened to witness this scene. However, when he arrived, it was the moment Might Guy was half-kneeling on the ground. Just as Kakashi was about to intervene, Might Guy suddenly exploded with power, instantly defeating both opponents.
Kakashi couldn't quite understand Might Guy's sudden outburst of strength. This made him truly believe what his father had said before, that Might Guy would really become his rival, and perhaps even surpass him.
"Of course, because I'm the hardworking genius recognized by Teacher Mokgetsu!" Might Guy gave a thumbs up, flashing an incredibly bright smile, his two rows of shining white teeth particularly eye-catching.
Upon finishing his words, Might Guy's body uncontrollably fell backward, as the earlier burst of power had left him too exhausted.
Kakashi quickly caught Might Guy.
"Next time, remember to save enough energy to walk home, or else your father will worry about you," Kakashi said, as he carried Might Guy on his back and walked towards Might Guy's house.
"Haha, isn't that what friends like you are for?" Might Guy laughed loudly.
"I can't always be around at the right time," Kakashi replied, slightly exasperated.
After delivering Might Guy to his doorstep and watching Might Guy being taken inside by Might Duy, Kakashi finally turned and left.
Today's Might Guy really surprised him.
Even now, Kakashi couldn't figure out how Might Guy's last two kicks suddenly exploded with such tremendous power, when he should have been out of energy.
"Hatake, the teacher said we have a mission tomorrow, don't be late."
On the way home, Kakashi met two teammates who had come to find him.
"Okay." Kakashi nodded coldly, not saying anything further, as he walked directly towards his house.
"He's so cold, you'd think he owes us a fortune or something," a teammate couldn't help but complain.
"He never comes to group training and never practices cooperation, yet he's very eager to do missions."
"Well, he's a genius ninja, after all, let's not say too much."
...
Despite being very tired, after dinner Might Guy still went over to Mokgetsu.
He went there every day, and if he suddenly stopped, Might Guy felt that Mokgetsu might worry about him. Plus, he had to report about the Breathing Technique to Mokgetsu.
"Teacher Mokgetsu, earlier when I was fighting, I suddenly entered a state where my strength and speed increased, and even my originally fatigued legs were filled with energy again," Might Guy began recounting to Mokgetsu what had happened to him that afternoon.
However, he tried to describe the battle process lightly, without mentioning he was too tired to walk afterward.
Mokgetsu directly opened the appraisal to check Might Guy's proficiency level in the Breathing Technique.
Skill: Breath of Rock (Not Initiated: 17/100)
Mokgetsu was shocked. Yesterday Might Guy's proficiency was zero, and today it suddenly jumped to seventeen.
This was significant. Yesterday, Obito had the highest proficiency, which was only six points. Might Guy directly jumped from zero to seventeen, approaching three times that of Obito.
Based on Might Guy's account, Mokgetsu analyzed the situation and believed that it was likely due to the dire circumstances and Might Guy's compatibility with the Breath of Rock. His thoughts also aligned with the Breath of Rock, so his potential was unlocked, and he instantly comprehended all the teachings, skyrocketing his proficiency.
"Take a break from cultivation today, and sit and watch Obito and the others train," Mokgetsu advised.
Might Guy didn't force himself, nodding in agreement.
While teaching Obito and Shisui, Mokgetsu directly shared the good news with them.
"Right now, Guy's progress in the Breathing Technique is the best. He can already use it to enhance himself," Mokgetsu explained.
"Huh, wasn't he unable to sense any Qi just yesterday? How did he improve so much in one day?" Obito exclaimed in surprise.
He was also training in the Breathing Technique and knew how challenging it was. Moreover, according to Mokgetsu, Might Guy's Breath of Rock was even harder than the Breath of Flame they were practicing. Obito couldn't understand how Might Guy had made such rapid progress in one day.
He felt like Might Guy was on cheat mode.
"Continue your diligent training, and you'll have a breakthrough one day too," Mokgetsu remarked with a smile.
Obito had potential with the Breath of Flame, and if not for Might Guy's sudden epiphany, the progress in the Breathing Technique would have been led by Obito.
Mokgetsu even believed that Obito was likely to be the first to fully master the Breathing Technique in the end.
Opportunities for epiphanies don't come every day, and given the difficulty of the Breath of Rock, Might Guy could only advance his proficiency through relentless daily practice.
Nonetheless, it was already better than before; breaking through from zero was crucial.
Upon learning of Might Guy's rapid progress, Obito felt immense pressure. Excluding today, only two days remained until the final test.
Originally, he thought his spot in the top two was secure, but now it seemed far from certain.
"Sage Mokgetsu, please grant me a breakthrough too," Obito prayed silently with his hands together.
"That's the wrong posture!" Mokgetsu said, pulling Obito's hands apart.
The prayer was personally interrupted by Sage Mokgetsu.
With the prayer failing, Obito could only return to training, continuously repeating various breathing techniques and observing the subtle changes in his body.
...
On Thursday, Mokgetsu continued teaching normally.
However, since the special training was nearing its end, Mokgetsu would always try to motivate the students at the beginning of each class.
With the special training almost over, the rewards for progress hadn't been triggered yet. Mokgetsu felt the students could push themselves just a little more for the final two days.
By now, most of the training goals Mokgetsu set had been achieved.
Members of Group A, aside from a few new participants, had essentially completed their training in the Instant Body Jutsu. Whether they used it well depended on the individual, but they had all learned it.
Group B members had mainly completed the tree-climbing and water-walking exercises, significantly improving their chakra control ability, with notable progress in the Three-Body Jutsu as well.
Considering just the original Group B members, their average ninjutsu score had increased from the low sevens to the high nines.
The outstanding students from lower grades also progressed rapidly over these five weeks of special training, ensuring they would surprise their classmates after the school term began.
"Just two days left, everyone, make the most of your cultivation time. The practical test in two days will be observed by Lord Third Hokage. Let him witness the results of your hard work," Mokgetsu continued to motivate.
"It's finally here, the moment to truly make a name for ourselves," Hagane Kotetsu and Kamizuki Izumo exchanged glances as they resumed deducing ninjutsu and preparing to showcase themselves better.
"Do doing well on the test mean we get dango?" Anko was only interested in being rewarded dango by Mokgetsu.
"Honestly, I don't see what's so great about some old man coming," Asuma said with a displeased expression.
Out of over three hundred students, perhaps some weren't interested in the Third Hokage, but Asuma might be the only one with a grievance against him.
"The Third Hokage…," Shisui's mind drifted to the history Mokgetsu had taught them earlier.
