Chapter 86 - Chapter 8: Someone There?

Knock knock... knock knock...

Natsuhiko immediately put down what he was doing, and Beedrill also stopped its training right away.

This was the faint heartbeat of the Pokémon inside the egg, and at this moment, it was so clear in the quiet environment.

He went to the living room where the incubator was placed, and saw that a significant crack had already formed on the smooth Pokémon Egg. The commotion just now had originated from this crack appearing.

After the Pokémon Egg entered the incubation process, the incubator humanely opened the device's lock on its own.

Crack!

Another crisp sound was heard, and the crack on the surface of the Pokémon Egg expanded again. Alongside the main crack, smaller, finer cracks began to appear.

Under the watchful gaze of Natsuhiko and Beedrill, wisps of faint light blue started to slowly flow out from the fissures of the Pokémon Egg, gradually wrapping around itself, causing it to float slowly up from the table.

"Psi pi?"

"Psychic power? It can already use Psychic power even before leaving the egg?"

Natsuhiko squinted his eyes, unsure whether to feel good or bad about this.

From the commotion of the Pokémon inside this egg, it was not hard to see that it should have a strong Psychic talent, but, for it, this may not necessarily be a good thing.

Don't forget, its mother was that Yujira, a product of Rocket Team research, whose Psychic abilities were also very strong, but because it couldn't control such powerful Psychic abilities, it led to its Psychic power going out of control, making it irritable and irrational.

This is not the state a wise Psychic-type Pokémon should have, nor is it the state a Trainer's Pokémon should have.

Natsuhiko couldn't be sure if this soon-to-be-born Pokémon might inherit its mother's state of uncontrollable Psychic power.

The Psychic power spilling from the egg continued to spread, not just encasing itself, but even covering everything in the living room.

Slowly, some relatively light objects like cups, bowls, and chopsticks also began to float up.

"It's still getting stronger. This amount of Psychic power is already not what a normal newborn Pokémon should possess."

Besides influencing itself, it's already starting to affect the surrounding objects.

And as the overflow of Psychic power kept increasing, the floating objects also continued to grow larger.

From cups at first, gradually moving to some flower vases, and then chairs on the floor...

Crack crack crack...

The crisp sound continued to echo, with the cracks on the Pokémon Egg quickly spreading, about to form into a circle.

"Psi pi..."

Beedrill showed a worried expression. The difficult appearance of this Pokémon about to hatch reminded it of the same challenge it faced when evolving from Kakuna to Beedrill.

One must give full effort without a moment of slack, or the opportunity to break free might be lost forever.

Crack!

Suddenly.

The crack on the Pokémon Egg finally formed a circle due to the tireless efforts of the creature inside. Although it hadn't completely broken out, the shell of the Pokémon Egg already showed a significantly weak point, suggesting that breaking out seemed inevitable with continued effort.

And just in the open fissure, a tiny eye quietly peeked through the gap at the unknown world outside.

First it saw Natsuhiko in front of it, then it noticed the concerned Beedrill beside it, and finally it took in the entire room.

Crack crack crack—

Finally, as if verifying the outside environment, the tiny Pokémon inside the egg made one last effort, and amidst a series of cracking sounds, the Pokémon Egg finally opened a huge gap.

The Pokémon inside slowly crawled out through the gap.

The moment it emerged, everything in the room that was floating lost its Psychic support and tumbled down.

In a series of breaking sounds, this petite Pokémon finally appeared in Natsuhiko's line of sight.

It was entirely yellow, with a fox-like head shape, a pointed nose, two pale yellow insides of its ears, brown leather-like skin from its neck to its chest, shoulder pads, three fingers on both hands and feet, and a long tail with a brown ring at the end.

Abra!

It seemed quite spirited, with its small eyes squinting, making it hard to tell whether it was because of its small eyes or its natural demeanor.

Even though its eyes weren't open, Natsuhiko could sense that Abra's gaze seemed to fix on him, raising its hands.

"Welcome to the world, little one."

Natsuhiko gently embraced the small Abra.

Freshly born Pokémon would enter their most juvenile growth stage, generally having little combat ability.

Only after surpassing the growth stage could Pokémon be considered truly developed; otherwise, they wouldn't be much different in fragility from humans.

"Kesshi!"

Abra seemed to take a liking to Natsuhiko, clinging tightly to his chest like a small yellow koala.

"Speaking of..."

Natsuhiko turned and held Abra's tail.

"Psi pi?" Beedrill saw Natsuhiko's action and suddenly had a bad premonition.

"It's my first time seeing a Pokémon hatch too. Apparently, aside from a few special Pokémon like Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀ who can determine gender at birth, others at the birth stage seem to..."

Then Beedrill watched as Natsuhiko solemnly held Abra's tail, turning it upside down.

Beedrill: "..."

"Kesshi?"

Abra's small face was filled with confusion, unsure of what Natsuhiko was doing, only feeling its lower body become somewhat chilly.

"It's a boy," Natsuhiko remarked with a look of realization.

"Speaking of..."

Natsuhiko returned Abra to his chest and turned to look at Beedrill.

This look gave Beedrill a shiver.

"Psi pi!!"

An extremely serious and rugged tone.

"I was just kidding with you," Natsuhiko smiled and waved his hand.

"Psi pi—" Beedrill exhaled deeply in relief.

Natsuhiko took out a specially prepared bottle of MooMoo Milk from the drawer and placed it on the table. Smelling the milk scent, Abra opened a tiny slit, its small nose twitching, and tail wagging back and forth.

Natsuhiko placed Abra on the table as well and gently petted its head.

He said slowly.

"I confirmed long ago."

Beedrill's expression froze, turning its head awkwardly.

Beedrill: "???"

"Hahahaha—" Natsuhiko burst into laughter.

Sometimes, joking around and teasing with one's Pokémon is much better than staying tense all the time.

"Mama..."

Suddenly, an immature voice echoed in Natsuhiko's mind.

He looked down to see the psychic energy covering Abra.

"Telepathy?" Natsuhiko was somewhat surprised.

"Kesshi..." Perhaps thinking Natsuhiko couldn't hear, Abra called softly once again, a tender and airy voice, with the demeanor of a little boy.

Mama?

Hearing this address, Natsuhiko's eyelid twitched.

"Psi pi pi pi pi pi!" Beedrill understood Abra's words and couldn't help but laugh out loud.

The fact that those who laugh at others end up being laughed at was proven mockingly.

While Beedrill was enjoying itself, Abra raised its small hand.

It waved towards a vacant corner of the room.

"Kesshi?" (Do you want to eat?)

Noticing its action, Natsuhiko and Beedrill both retracted their expressions.

Someone?
