Chapter 32: The Lame Taoist Priest
"Damn it, at a time like this, you're still being stubborn!" Tang Ren hit James on the head again: "If you didn't kill him, then who did? Don't tell me I killed him?"
"It was that Taoist priest who killed him; I merely screened and provided him with some citizen information," James argued.
Seeing James's desperate attempt to explain, it didn't seem like he was just spouting nonsense.
Mo Fei took a deep breath.
Damn it, the butterfly effect is at play again.
According to James, the lame Taoist priest appeared after he was diagnosed with cancer.
After he got cancer, he was disheartened and was about to commit suicide when he suddenly met that Taoist priest.
Because James's wife was Chinese and enjoyed studying Taoist culture, he also had some knowledge of it, but he didn't believe that a Taoist priest could truly cure his cancer.
But later, the Taoist priest selflessly provided him with a method to gain strength and prolong his life through sexual intercourse with women.
He tried practicing it, and it actually worked.
However, the method the Taoist priest taught him to resist cancer and prolong his own life was not truly free of charge; not long after, the Taoist priest demanded a return, asking him to do things for him.
The Taoist priest's first request was to provide him with detailed information about five people whose birth charts corresponded to the five elements of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth.
James screened the information of five people and sent it over.
"So, that means the Taoist priest killed him..." Mo Fei stroked his chin.
"What kind of damn Taoist priest? I think this kid killed him! Look at his cunning face; he doesn't look like a good person!" Tang Ren, annoyed, hit James on the head again.
If he wasn't the murderer, they would have to spend effort finding the real killer again.
"My intuition tells me that he might be hiding some information, but the news about this Taoist priest doesn't seem entirely made up," Qin Feng said, looking at James.
As a detective, sometimes you have to trust your intuition more than your eyes.
"Then do you know where that Taoist priest lives?" Mo Fei asked.
"I don't know; he's always had one-sided contact with me."
"Heh heh, never mind. That Taoist priest doesn't sound like someone to mess with. Since we've already traced it to him, let's just push the blame onto him. Then we can immediately get Seventh Uncle's 5 million U.S. dollars." Mo Fei thought for a moment and laughed: "As for how Seventh Uncle will choose to torment this kid, who killed the former leader of North America's Hongmen, until he wishes for death but cannot die, that's none of our business."
"Wait!" James felt a deep sense of malice approaching. He swallowed: "What's going on with Seventh Uncle?"
"Seventh Uncle, Wu Zhiyuan, the famous Godfather of Chinatown, the former leader of Hongmen's 800,000 disciples." Mo Fei chuckled: "Seventh Uncle offered 5 million U.S. dollars as a reward; otherwise, why do you think we non-police personnel would be so full of ourselves to come looking for you?"
Although James had never seen how gangsters tormented people, he hadn't eaten pork, but he had seen pigs run, right?
Actually, he had ten thousand "motherfucker"s in his heart that he didn't know how to express. The people he chose were carefully selected, with no special background... Why did a grandson of a gang boss with 800,000 disciples suddenly appear?
(Wu Zhihao: Should I also tell you that I fell out with my Grandpa and moved out?)
"Gulp!" James swallowed with difficulty: "I think I might know a little about that Taoist priest's address..."
"Where?" Qin Feng excitedly grabbed James's collar.
"My home..." James said cautiously.
Qin Feng: "..."
"I knew this kid wouldn't be honest!" Tang Ren directly kicked James in the face with his big foot: "What else are you hiding, kid? Hurry up and tell us everything! Otherwise, do you believe I'll kick you to death?"
"No more, there's really no more." James cried out with difficulty under Tang Ren's abuse: "I've told you everything I know! Believe me, I don't want to take the blame for killing the grandson of a top gang boss either!"
"Alright, if you keep hitting him, you'll kill him." Qin Feng stopped Tang Ren, who was still trying to beat James, and looked at James, saying: "He might still be hiding some of his crimes, but I believe he doesn't know much about that Taoist priest's information. After all, he wouldn't want that Taoist priest to escape; otherwise, he himself would be facing Seventh Uncle's men."
"So what do we do now?" Tang Ren asked.
"Of course, we go directly to that Taoist priest."
...On the distant horizon, a Sun was about to set.
The sunset dyed the clouds in the sky red, and the disc-sized setting Sun quickly dropped behind the wall, framed by the clouds.
The lingering glow of the sunset made the sky look as if it were on Fire, splendid and enchanting!
James's Villa.
The entire room exuded a strong smell of deoxyribonucleic acid.
"Master, this is your tea." James subserviently handed a teacup to a Taoist priest.
"Mhm." The Taoist priest took it casually.
The Taoist priest looked about fifty years old, dressed in a Taoist robe with a Tai Chi symbol printed on the back. He was thin and gaunt, with a large mole on his left cheek, from which a few stray hairs hung.
"Master, you are truly still sharp as a blade and strong as an ox!" James looked enviously and jealously at the blonde, blue-eyed woman on the sofa not far away, who had already fainted from exhaustion.
This old fellow, while at his home, demanded that he find seventeen or eighteen women for him every day, and he could handle every single one of them perfectly.
This was an achievement James couldn't even manage during his peak, ever since he was a child!
After drinking the tea, the Taoist priest frowned imperceptibly and silently put down the teacup: "Have you encountered anything strange these past few days?"
James froze for a moment and said, "No!"
"Oh?" The Taoist priest raised an eyebrow, looking at James with a half-smile: "Then that means you've harbored some improper thoughts yourself?"
"Oh no!" James's heart jolted. This old fellow had seen through his facade.
He had seen this old fellow use some supernatural abilities, which no ordinary person could possess. Dealing with him would not be difficult.
"Master, have you misunderstood something?" James forced a smile. He still held a sliver of hope, thinking the Taoist priest was testing him.
"Misunderstanding?" The Taoist priest's expression suddenly turned stern, and his eyes gleamed ferociously: "What kind of misunderstanding is it for you to drug me?"
"Save me!!! He saw through it..." James roared and rushed towards the door.
He used all his strength, running as if his life depended on it!
A disdainful sneer appeared on the Taoist priest's face. With a casual wave, the gust of wind from his Taoist robe fanned James, directly wrapping him up and slamming him against the wall.
