Chapter 605 - Chapter 600: What She Was Told

Location:The Pavilion — The Garden Wall, The Sanctuary

Date/Time:11 Flamefade 9943 AZI, Grindday, morning (outside) — her fiftieth day inside

Realm:Lower Realm

The wall at the end of Green's beds held the sun into the morning, and Cangwei had learned in the first week which stones held it longest. The fourth from the corner. The one with the seam of pale rock through it like a vein in a hand. On that one she sat now, her live palm flat on the stone beside her and felt the warmth come up into it, steady, unhurried, as if the wall had nowhere else to be.

Her other hand lay in its sling against her ribs. It did not register the stone or the sun or anything. Green had told her on the third day that it would not, and Green did not say things she would have to take back, and so Cangwei had written it down and stopped testing it.

Fifty days.
