Chapter 40 - Brotherly slice-of-life

The night passed by like that.

Si-Hun got up for his workout.

"I've been dozing off randomly." He said to himself.

At 9, he woke Ji-Ho up.

"Hey, get up!"

"Brother, ahhh!! Lemme sleep!!!"

"It's 9. Get up."

"Fine!"

Ji-Ho got up abruptly and made an annoyed face.

"You're so annoying," Ji-Ho said.

"Don't worry, you are more than me. Meet me in the kitchen for breakfast."

Ji-Ho got off the bed and went to the washroom.

Si-Hun was in the kitchen when he heard a knock on the door.

"Who's there?"

"Uhh, Si-Hun. Could you open up?"

Si-Hun heard her voice and walked to the door in his apron and with his cooking spatula still in his hand.

She looked up and saw him in this condition.

A low chuckle escaped her mouth as she put her fingers on her mouth.

He tilted his head.

"Uhh, I got this letter on my door. It said your name on it. The delivery guy must have mistaken our houses. Here."

She extended her hands to give it to him.

Si-Hun looked at the letter and extended his hand to take it.

While he was taking the envelope, her fingers slightly brushed against his, and she got flustered, so easily.

Si-Hun froze for half a second, then slowly pulled away.

"Thanks," Si-Hun said.

"Y-you're welcome," she said, pulling her hands back nervously.

"Why does he look at me like that!?" She thought.

"What…was that?" Si-Hun thought.

"I'll…leave." She said while looking down and smiling a little.

Si-Hun nodded and closed the door after she left.

[Su-Yeon's POV]

"He looked like he was cooking something. And that…why did it feel so weird?" She asked herself.

Su-Yeon sat on her couch and leaned against the sofa.

[Si-Hun's apartment]

Si-Hun looked at his hand and then looked up.

"What was that?''

He went inside and put the envelope on the kitchen counter.

Ji-Ho soon came out after taking a shower and sat at the dining table.

His eyes darted towards the envelope, and he peeked at Si-Hun to see if he was looking.

He extended his hand to see what was in that when Si-Hun spoke.

"Don't touch it." He said in his firm but gentle voice.

"Ahh, how'd you know??" He said, sighing.

"I have eyes on my back."

"Well, I can't see them." He said, firing back.

Si-Hun smiled and turned around while putting the food on the table.

"Don't argue and eat."

They ate quickly.

"Hyung! I'll go back today, I don't want to!!!!"

"You got school tomorrow.''

"Ughh…but it won't be that bad going to school…" He said, the last part almost to himself.

"Why's the sudden hate towards school disappearing?"

Ji-Ho glanced at Si-Hun, then looked away.

Si-Hun smirked and said.

"Spill the tea, brother," He said, teasingly.

"What!?"

"Who do you like?"

"WHAT!?? I never even said I like anyone!"

"I can see it on your face." Si-Huns said, still with that same smirk playing on his lips.

'FINE. So…there's a girl in the other section. We sometimes talked due to school matters, but…I've liked her for two months now. I'm sure she doesn't know if I'm…into her."

Si-Hun narrowed his eyes and smiled a little.

"Getting a girlfriend before me?" He said teasing again.

"Aishhh!!!! What are you talking about!"

"I can clearly see you approaching her. You should try…talking to her, if she's worth it."

"She's pretty cool and kind. I've seen her helping kids after school…and I liked it."

Si-Hun stirred his spoon in his coffee and looked at Ji-Ho.

"Then you should try talking to her and tell me on the phone about her."

"I will try…"

"That's my boy," Si-Hun said, patting his back.

The morning went like that, laughing, sharing secrets, teasing, and fighting over the smallest things.

He enjoyed the day with him, real fun.

Si-Hun was going to drop Ji-Ho off at home while going to Arthur's.

They left the house at 3.

"Brother, I really don't wanna leave. You know Mom and Dad can be…too much."

"I know, Ji-Ho. They can be a little overwhelming at times, but they love you. You've got it."

The ride was quiet, but the silence was calm.

They reached his home.

Ji-Ho got off the bike and knocked at the door.

His mom answered the door this time.

She looked at Ji-Ho and hugged him while glancing at his other son once.

"Oh, hey, Si-Hun. You fixed that bike of yours?"

Si-Hun nodded and then turned his gaze to the road.

Ji-Ho waved goodbye to Si-Hun, and his mom closed the door.

"As expected. At least I got to see my mom after so much time." Si-Hun thought with a low smile on the corner of his lips.

It wasn't happy…just adjustment.

He fled to Arthur's right after.

This time, he was alone.

No one, not even Kuro, was with him.

It was evening, and he was letting the wind swallow him whole.

He removed his helmet to feel the breeze.

His hair blew in the wind, and his lips were curled in a smile.

He always enjoyed riding.

The sunlight cast a pale glow on his face, and his skin shimmered under the light.

He loved it, every second of it.

He stopped his bike in front of the shop and ran a hand through his hair.

His hair was messy because of the wind.

He got off the bike and entered the shop.

The bell connected to the front door rang, signaling someone had entered.

"Hey, Si-Hun! Great timing. 1 minute earlier.'' Arthur spoke from behind the counter.

"I'm always on time when you give it."

"Haha, come," Arthur said, opening the small door for Si-Hun to pass through the counter.

He led Si-Hun to his backyard.

"Whoa! This is big…''
