Chapter 20 - Chapter 7: It Doesn't Matter Even If We Die

Ivy complained discontentedly that she didn't care about her own life or death, but the plants had to survive. Harley, feeling sorry, quickly ran over, comforting her by gently stroking Ivy's smooth back like soothing a cat:

"Oh, anyway, we're all going to die soon, and after that, we won't see the plants die, so we won't be sad, right?"

This kind of crazy talk obviously didn't have any comforting effect, and Ivy just squinted her eyes and stared at her.

Su Ming then asked, "Don't you have any spaceships or something? Surviving in outer space could work too."

In the various worlds of DC, not only are there spaceships, but also aliens, and the Justice League's space station is called the 'Watchtower', right in Earth's synchronous orbit.

As a result, his question prompted a unanimous counter-question from the three women:

"What is a spaceship?" X3

Though their tones and intonations were different, it was obvious that there was no such thing in their knowledge.

"Emmm... it's a ship that can take people beyond the atmosphere to live outside of Earth." Su Ming forcibly explained.

Cindy and Ivy looked at him with peculiar eyes, but Harley, as if meeting a kindred spirit, brightened up and looked at him gratefully:

"I knew it, ships can fly, hehehe, I'm not crazy!"

Being regarded as a like-minded person by someone clearly insane, what does that say?

It turns out that in this Amazonian-ruled world, everything still follows their Paradise Island way, they believe more in the power of gods, and as for science, that's just a lie to fool the commoners.

Earth is the center of the universe, why leave Earth? And if you work hard to cultivate, you can fly on your own.

Can science make you immortal? Can science keep you forever young? What science can't do, divine power can.

So in this world, there aren't even airplanes, if you really want to fly... how about a magic flying carpet?

For Su Ming, this news was toothaching, no wonder Earth -11 eventually perished in a great tsunami, it was all part of Barbatos' plan, he definitely saw that there were no aircraft here, and used it as a catalyst to drag Briss into darkness.

Su Ming and the others are currently working hard to cut off the fuse that lights the explosive pack, but they have no clue, and Briss, who is key to the plan, has disappeared, rendering all schemes worthless.

"No way, I can't just sit and wait to die, if Earth is destroyed, plants can't survive either, I have to do something."

Ivy didn't get lost in Harley's sweet talk about facing 'a beautiful and warm death' together, she decided to struggle a bit.

"Oh right, you said you're from a parallel world, can you go back? It would be nice to take me and the plants to hide."

"Nice thought, but unfortunately, I can't even go back myself."

Su Ming straightforwardly spoke about his predicament, if he could run, he would've persuaded Cindy to escape together long ago, what does Earth -11's affairs have to do with him? Now the problem is he's stuck on this doomed ship, unable to get off.

Poison Ivy's hope was dashed, and she went back to pondering deeply, turning her head to look at Harley, who was idly playing with her hair as if nothing discussed concerned her.

"Did the Jester tell you how the destruction will happen?"

"Didn't say, anyway, she spoke very seriously, so it must be true."

It's unclear how Harley saw seriousness in the Jester's chaotic letter, but all she knew is the Earth is doomed, though she doesn't know how exactly.

"Probably due to war? Those guys under the sea have been at war with the Amazon Council for a long time." Ivy leaned on Harley, as the world's most famous environmentalist, she felt a bit listless, speaking weakly, "This kind of war isn't something we can stop, using weapons of mass destruction will destroy this world, the Jester probably foresaw this."

Harley contentedly patted her head, picking a leaf from Poison Ivy's hair, trying to place it on her own head, but no matter how she arranged it, it just didn't harmonize, totally lacking the beauty of nature, more like a fallen leaf on her head:

"Probably, who cares, I'm actually curious what dying feels like, I want to experience it."

Seeing the two of them start fooling around again, Su Ming shook his head.

"You guys have fun, we're leaving now, by the way, the world ends with a great flood."

After speaking, he pulled Cindy along, casually grabbing a bag of chips from the table, and lazily left. By tomorrow, when they're sober, maybe they'll be more serious while dealing with the remains downstairs.

Cindy, with her helmet on, was pulled along for a few steps and could still hear whispers from Harley and Ivy behind her.

"A great flood, is it the Revelation?" Ivy asked.

"Mmm, like Noah in the boat." Harley replied groggily.

"It's called the Ark, silly." Ivy.

"Hmph, I'm not dumb, I'll bite you." Harley.

The two of them ended up on the sofa again, laughing and playing. Harley didn't care about life or death, while Ivy relaxed knowing it would be a great flood—in strict sense, seaweed and kelp count as plants, as long as there are plants, she wouldn't mind dying herself.

Cindy sighed, and with Su Ming returned to the corridor, the music behind them still noisy, she felt a bit helpless:

"What do we do now? We really have no clues left."

Su Ming pulled out a rope, tied it to a nearby pipe, tested its strength, and used the rope to leap out of the window, the cold rain once again chilled his blood.

The vibrant neon environment earlier was actually just Harley's hypnosis on herself, while the threat of death always lingered above them.

The car was destroyed, so the two could only talk while walking.

"You mentioned you've been to the Bat Cave, so have you been to the Vayne Mansion?" Su Ming asked Cindy while looking around, hoping to find some form of transport.

"Of course, not only her, but her old butler is also missing."

"Could they have been kidnapped?"

"No, the security measures are still intact, all the rooms are extremely tidy, without any trace of a struggle; she left of her own volition, and with the butler too."

"Is there a system in her Bat Cave for monitoring all of Gotham, ever tried that?"

"Then we'd need her two eyeballs and one hand to activate that system."

The two of them had walked quite a distance by now, almost exiting the circus grounds, still no good solutions. Just then, Su Ming spotted a mode of transport.

It was a bunch of unicycle bikes, messily piled up against the wall in the rain, cold metal glinting.

These should be circus property, their owners likely the people Su Ming and Cindy had taken down earlier, as this wasn't far from the encounter site.

No matter which world's Joker Gang, these people like to put on a show while committing crimes, say riding unicycles and shooting apples off people's heads.

"Can you ride this thing?" Su Ming, with one hand on each bike, pulled out two from the metal pile.

Cindy took one to try, initially wobbling, but quickly adapting; with Deathstroke's physique and brain balance, learning to ride a unicycle took merely ten seconds.

Su Ming soon noticed too, not only moving smoothly, but could juggle small balls or apples while riding.

Under the extraordinary power of the two, the unicycles moved almost as fast as cars, the only downside being the lack of windshields, the torrential rain directly soaking them.

Their skin felt the chill of the armor, the thick Promethium Metal was forever reliable, but the black and yellow armor constantly absorbed his warmth, as if intending to transform him cold-heartedly from within.

"Can you tell me your destination now? If I'm not mistaken, you shouldn't know the roads here." Cindy reminded him while riding alongside.

"Uh, you're right." Of course, Su Ming didn't know the streets of Gotham, he couldn't even point out Batwoman's home or company locations: "We've now learned that Briss took Alfred and ran, meaning she intended to take away her family and friends, but among those people, there's one person who would never leave with her."

"You mean...." Cindy nodded slightly, her mask's red monocle glinting under the streetlights.

Su Ming confirmed her guess, glanced at the shivering dark figures in the alley, and pulled out a gun to scare them off: "We're going to find him now, and make some big news, forcing the Bat to come out and save people."

"Hehe, I like this plan, those earlier actions were too spineless, this way, follow me."
