Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Force Weaving

Telekinesis, by definition, is the power to move and control objects at a distance by the use of mental power or other supernatural means. If one is not strong or imaginative enough, the potential for this superpower is limited.

Kyrell's Force Weaving is different. It was not simply moving objects at will. Using a formless and invisible energy, he can do a lot of things.

The "Force" can wrap around objects, replicating "telekinesis," but he can also use the "Force" on its own. For example, punching through the air results in an invisible long-distance punch attack. If he were powerful enough, he could even have the invisible force wrap around his opponent's neck and twist it at will, effectively causing death.

These are just the initial things that Kyrell can use Force Weaving for, and he can be more creative to think of other methods he can use it for.

With a mental command, Kyrell threw the dagger at one of the training dummies without using physical contact.

The dagger, wrapped by "Force" flew in the air, and it managed to stab the dummy's shoulder, and the number "0.76" appeared on the dummy's face.

"A damage of 0.76 point, it is quite low considering the average attack power for 1st step Ascendants, Aetherborne is 1" Kyrell commented, thinking that the damage he dealt was quite low.

"The damage was low, but its aether consumption is minimal. Am I a sustained type of Ascendant? I can probably win fights by letting my opponent consume their aether until they run out. By then, they would be at my mercy."

The gears inside Kyrell's head churned, thinking about the type of combat style he should adapt.

Since an Ascendant's Spirit Armament can vary, there are times when the Ascendant must analyze their powers on their own and pioneer them.

It was why clans and other powerful organizations mostly focused on a certain type of Spirit Armaments.

Just look at the Everblack Clan. They prioritize clansmen with Halo of Decay Armament not because this particular Spirit Armament was superior, but because of some factors.

First, the most important thing is that their strongest Meditation Technique is most suited for Halo of Decay.

Second, there are already powerful people in the Clan with the same Armament, hence, it was easier to train these people.

Third, clansmen with other Armaments, even if the clan wants to nourish them, might not have the capability to do so because they do not have a suitable Spirit Armament, nor do they have extensive knowledge of every Armament in the world.

It was always harder and time-consuming to pioneer a new path that is not necessarily stronger than paths that are already established, where an Ascendant just needs to follow the footsteps of their ancestors.

"No, even if I can outlast my opponent when it comes to aether consumption, if their attack power is superior to mine, they can end the battle before using all of their aether."

"My strength is my ability to sustain my Spirit Armament for a longer time, and my weakness is the mediocre attack power. I must find ways to make up for my weakness."

After a moment of analysis, Kyrell started exploring his Spirit Armament. His first thought was, since one dagger only dealt 0.76 points of damage, what if there were two, five, ten, or even hundreds of daggers? Sometimes, when the quantity is enough, it could cause a qualitative change.

With a goal set in mind, Kyrell continued his training, exploring the different ways in which he could utilize his Spirit Armament, and he could not help but smile.

"This Force Weaving... it definitely suited me the most. This feeling of being able to control everything... it is exhilarating!"

Spirit Armament is the manifestation of the Ascendant, and it reflects his desire for control.

Growing up in the Everblack Clan, nothing was in his control. His life can be taken any moment if his father wishes to, entering the Bloodline Pool was not something he could decide on his own. Becoming an Ascendant or not is also not something he can decide.

Everything was pre-determined, and he had no choice but to comply unless he wanted to rebel and die in the process.

Years of pent-up emotions and being unable to control his fate burst, giving life to the Force Weaving Spirit Armament.

What Kyrell craves the most is being in control. He dislikes uncontrollable things!

After hours of training and exploring, Kyrell decided to stop. Blind training will not achieve much. The next on his plan was to head to the Clan's library.

He wants to check if the clan has records and a training guide for the Force Weaving Armament so that he wouldn't be blindly groping in the dark.

He just explored his Spirit Armament first so that he can experience and know it without any biases. If he were to immediately read related materials without exploring his Armament beforehand, his thought process might become rigid. He wanted to avoid carelessly following the path of predecessors.

His Force Weaving is versatile, and he doesn't want to shackle himself with the mindset of other Ascendants. Of course, it was also important to use a predecessor's notes as a reference.

The territory of the Everblack Family was large, and the public training ground was close to the building where Kyrell's room was located. Possibly in consideration for the Ascendants living in this building.

As such, he had no choice but to pass through the area of the apartment building he is currently living in, and in the garden, he saw a familiar face.

It was a girl sitting on the grass below a fountain in front of the apartment building. The girl has half of her face on her knees as tears stream down her cheeks, painting a really pitiful image.

"Young Miss, please stop crying. Let's go to the Clan's main Mansion, it will become your new home."

Around the girl were three servants carrying large bags, presumably the clothes and other stuff owned by the girl, who was one of the two Ascendants earlier that had the Halo of Decay.

"N-No! I don't w-want to! I w-want my brother h-huhuhu!" The girl cried loudly, and Kyrell shook his head.

If it were him, after his beloved brother dies due to the clan's blackheartedness, he wouldn't act like that.

Instead of letting grief take over, he would take that grief and use it as fuel for his growth. Only when he grows and becomes strong can he do something meaningful. For example, revenge.

With power, he can avenge his brother's death. With power, he can prevent similar experiences from being experienced by his other clansmen. With power, instead of being hurt, he would be the one who could hurt other people.

Kyrell decided to ignore the pitiful girl and continue on his way to the clan's library when his footsteps halted.

He turned his head back to the girl, and a wicked thought suddenly sprouted in his mind. Could he...

A dark flash appeared in his eyes without him knowing. The Heretic's Codex deep inside him emanated a formless and invisible influence that made his wicked thoughts sound more appealing.

"I can try to do it. If I fail, then so be it. But if I succeeded then..."

A dark smile formed on Kyrell's lips, and he postponed going to the clan's library; he walked towards the girl instead.

"Hello, it seems like you have a hard time convincing my sister. Would you mind giving us some privacy? I will try to convince her."

Gone was the aura of indifference that was normally emitted by Kyrell. It was instead replaced by a harmless and friendly demeanor.

Kyrell's indifference was due to not wanting to associate himself with his clansmen, but it does not mean he is so rigid that he would let coldness become his one and only personality.

If being cheerful and sunny can help him achieve his goals, why would he continue to be cold and indifferent? For what? To look cool and mysterious?

Bah! Such a thing would not ensure survival, nor would it make him strong.

These three people... even though they are restraining their aura to not affect people who are weaker than them, Kyrell still knows that they are strong.

Each member of the Clan with Halo of Decay Spirit Armament are important "resource" that will turn the clan from a "New Noble" to "Old Nobility." At the very least, they would send people stronger than a youth that just become an Ascendant to bring this girl into the main house.

"You are...?" One of the three asked while knitting his brows.

The earlier show of friendliness worked, and instead of being displeased, the three just looked at Kyrell in curiosity.

"I am Kyrell Onyx Everblack. Me and my sister just became Ascendants today, but one of our close brothers did not make it. I hope you can give us some space" Kyrell replied purposely.

He let them know that he is an Everblack and not one that people are unsure of if he will survive until his 16th birthday since he already became an Ascendant.

Blood is thicker than water. An Ascendant with the Everblack blood is more important than most servants.

Kyrell feigned friendliness before letting them know that he has some "importance" since he is an Everblack and seemingly close to one of the "seedlings" of the clan.

If these servants knew better, they would not make things hard for him nor offend him.
