# Chapter 235: Beginning the Struggle
"The effect of CNo.39: Utopia Ray V activates! Once per turn, by detaching one Overlay Material from this card and targeting one monster on your opponent's field, that monster is destroyed. If a face-up monster is destroyed this way, your opponent takes damage equal to its ATK."
As Yūga Hōzumi spoke, Utopia Ray V unleashed two astonishing chaos sword-beams toward Cyber Dragon Infinity, forming a 'V' shape in the air that enveloped it.
The frenzied Chaos Force eroded Cyber Dragon Infinity's mechanical body, and the mechanical dragon exploded after letting out a pained shriek.
Subsequently, this Chaos Force, carrying fragments of Cyber Dragon Infinity, surged toward Ryo Marufuji.
"I activate the Trap Card, Damage Diet! This turn, any damage I receive is halved!"
Flipping his set card, Ryo Marufuji stoically endured the chaos slash.
Ryo Marufuji's LP: 2300 → 1150
"Battle! CNo.39: Utopia Ray V, attack the set Chimeratech Rampage Dragon!"
Utopia Ray V lunged forward, striking down at the set monster with a single slash.
Chimeratech Rampage Dragon, sent to the Graveyard from where it could not be recovered, was finally put out of its misery.
"I set a card and end my turn."
"My turn! I draw!" Ryo Marufuji wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and drew his card for the turn.
"At this moment, I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Emergency Provisions!"
"By sending any number of other Spell and Trap Cards from my field to the Graveyard, I gain 1000 LP for each card sent!"
"I send the Continuous Spell, Mirage of Nightmare, the Continuous Spell, Cyberdark World, and the Field Spell, Cyberdark Inferno, to the Graveyard to recover 3000 Life Points!"
Ryo Marufuji's LP: 1150 → 4150
After recovering his Life Points, Ryo Marufuji gazed at Yūga Hōzumi and declared, "You're strong! Stronger than any opponent I've ever defeated before! But I will win this duel!"
Ryo Marufuji let out a long cry to the heavens. Yūga Hōzumi frowned; at this moment, background music started playing in his mind.
"I activate the Spell Card, TAKEOVER-5! I send the top five cards from my Deck to the Graveyard."
"Next, I activate the Spell Card, Evolutionary Result Burst!"
"I add one 'Overload Fusion' from my Deck to my hand. This turn, if I Fusion Summon a monster using six or more materials with the effect of 'Overload Fusion,' that monster can make a number of attacks during the same Battle Phase up to the number of monsters used as Fusion Material. After this card resolves, for the rest of this turn, I can only Special Summon monsters with the effects of Spell Cards."
"I activate the Spell Card, Overload Fusion! I banish Fusion Material Monsters for a DARK Machine Fusion Monster from my field and Graveyard to Fusion Summon that monster from my Extra Deck!"
"At this moment, I activate the effect of the Tuner monster in my hand, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion! When my opponent activates an effect that would banish a card from the Graveyard, I can discard this card from my hand to negate that effect!"
"A trick like that won't stop me!" Seeing this, Ryo Marufuji slammed another card onto his Duel Disk. "I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Called by the Grave!"
"I target one monster in your Graveyard and banish it. Until the end of the next turn, the effects of that banished monster, and any monsters with the same original name, are negated."
Just as the girl in the black dress appeared, a green arm emerged from the ground, pointing a finger to make her vanish.
Yūga Hōzumi: ...
*Since you're so good at top-decking, go ahead and struggle.*
"I banish six monsters from my Graveyard—Cyber Dragon, Cyber Dragon Core, Cyber Dragon Nachster, Cyber Dragon Vier, Cyber Dragon Drei, and Chimeratech Rampage Dragon—to Fusion Summon!"
"Appear! The ultimate monster of the Cyber Style! Fusion Summon! Level 9! Chimeratech Overdragon!"
Raging thunder surged forth, sweeping across the entire field. The mechanical core in front of Ryo Marufuji crackled and whirred, and in moments, a six-headed mechanical chimera was born from it.
"When Chimeratech Overdragon is Fusion Summoned, all other cards on my field are sent to the Graveyard! And this card's original ATK becomes the number of Fusion Materials used for its summon multiplied by 800!"
Chimeratech Overdragon's ATK: ? → 4800
"Due to the effect of Evolutionary Result Burst, Chimeratech Overdragon can attack six times this turn! Go! Chimeratech Overdragon, attack Zoodiac Tigermortar!"
Chimeratech Overdragon unleashed a blast from its laser cannon. Zoodiac Tigermortar, without any Overlay Materials, was powerless to resist and was blown to fragments.
"Chimeratech Overdragon, attack Number 39: Utopia Rising! Double Strike!"
"Chimeratech Overdragon, attack CNo.39: Utopia Ray V! Triple Strike!"
Chimeratech Overdragon unleashed a current of electricity, shattering Utopia Ray V.
Yūga Hōzumi's LP: 2600 → 400
Knocked over by the aftershock of the battle, Yūga Hōzumi got back to his feet, dusted himself off, and spoke.
"The effect of CNo.39: Utopia Ray V activates when it's destroyed! When this card is destroyed by my opponent, I can target one Xyz Monster in my Graveyard and return it to the Extra Deck."
Where Utopia Ray V had been destroyed, the phantom of Utopia in its original form slowly materialized before entering Yūga Hōzumi's Duel Disk.
"Useless!" Ryo Marufuji roared like a demon god. "Chimeratech Overdragon can still attack three more times this turn!"
"Chimeratech Overdragon, direct attack! Fourth Strike!"
"At this moment, I activate the effect of Kiteroid from my hand!"
"When an opponent declares a direct attack, I can discard this card from my hand to make that battle damage zero!"
"It's not over! Chimeratech Overdragon, direct attack! Fifth Strike!"
"I activate the effect of Kiteroid in my Graveyard! When an opponent declares a direct attack, I can banish this card from my Graveyard to make that battle damage zero!" Yūga Hōzumi summoned two wind shields, blocking the fatal attacks.
"This level of struggling is useless against me! Chimeratech Overdragon, direct attack! Sixth Strike!"
"At this moment, I activate the Trap Card, Masterpiece Puzzle!"
"I target two monsters in my Graveyard and Special Summon them with their effects negated! Then, using only those two monsters as material, I Xyz Summon one LIGHT 'Utopia' Xyz Monster!"
"Revive! Gogogo Banchou - Gagaga Coat and Utopic Onomatopoeia!"
"I overlay these two monsters! Xyz Summon!"
"Appear! Number 39: Utopia!"
Utopia, in its original form, once again became a reliable shield, standing before Yūga Hōzumi at this critical moment.
"You're truly tenacious! Chimeratech Overdragon, attack Number 39: Utopia!" Forced into a battle replay, Ryo Marufuji knew his plan to finish Yūga Hōzumi this turn had failed. He settled for forcing Utopia to use one of its Overlay Materials.
