# Chapter 245: Cute Little Birds
After the two little birds on Yūga Hōzumi's field flew away on a gentle breeze, a charmingly clumsy little penguin wobbled onto the field amidst a cold wind. It raised its tiny, flightless wings and saluted the surrounding audience.
Floowandereeze & Empen ATK: 2700
"If a face-up Floowandereeze monster leaves the field, it is banished instead."
"Next, Floowandereeze & Empen's effect activates! When this card is successfully Tribute Summoned, I can add one 'Floowandereeze' Spell or Trap Card from my Deck to my hand."
"I'll add Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town to my hand."
"Furthermore, the effect of the banished Floowandereeze & Robina activates! Once per turn, while this card is banished, if I Normal Summon a Winged Beast monster, I can add this card to my hand."
"I set two cards and end my turn." After a series of Normal Summons, Yūga Hōzumi ended his turn.
"Is his deck really made up of these little birds? They don't look like they have any fighting power," one of the examinees in the audience said, filled with doubt.
After all, even the Tribute Summoned penguin wasn't as tall as a person. How could it possibly have any combat strength?
"Is he planning to fight using traps from his backrow? But Professor Crowler's Ancient Gear deck is the ultimate counter to Trap Cards. This arrogant newcomer is finished," a senior student judged.
"Still, even if the guy is a jerk, his monsters are pretty cute," a senior female student remarked.
"I thought someone as arrogant as you would have some skill, but if this is all you've got, you have no right to be arrogant! My turn! Draw!" Professor Crowler drew a card.
"I Summon Ancient Gear Hound in Attack Position!"
"When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, its effect activates, inflicting 600 points of damage to my opponent!" Professor Crowler started by unleashing his hound. The cannon in its mouth was just about to fire when a Field Spell on Yūga Hōzumi's backrow flashed.
"At this moment, my Field Spell, Floowandereeze and the Mysterious Map, activates its effect! When my opponent Normal Summons a monster, I can Normal Summon one 'Floowandereeze' monster!"
"Appear, Floowandereeze & Robina!"
The cannon blast from Ancient Gear Hound struck Yūga Hōzumi, but he didn't even blink. A moment later, another small bird appeared on his field.
"When Floowandereeze & Robina is Normal Summoned, its effect activates! I can add one Level 4 or lower Winged Beast monster from my Deck to my hand, and then I can immediately Normal Summon one Winged Beast monster."
"Next, I'll chain this effect with the effect of my banished Floowandereeze & Eglen! Since it's banished and a Winged Beast monster was summoned to my field, I can add it to my hand."
"Robina's effect resolves. I'll add Floowandereeze & Toccan from my Deck to my hand, then Normal Summon the Floowandereeze & Eglen I just recovered!"
"Floowandereeze & Eglen's effect activates! When it's Normal Summoned, I can add one Level 7 or higher Winged Beast monster from my Deck to my hand, and then I can immediately Normal Summon a Winged Beast monster."
"I'll add Mist Valley Apex Avian from my Deck to my hand! Then, I'll Tribute Robina and Eglen on my field for a Tribute Summon!"
"Appear, Level 7! Mist Valley Apex Avian!"
The two little birds that had just appeared once again vanished in a gentle breeze, replaced by a magnificent, giant avian.
Mist Valley Apex Avian ATK: 2700
This series of moves stunned everyone present.
"Continuous Normal Summons on the opponent's turn?" If the chain of Normal Summons Yūga Hōzumi performed on his own turn was still within their grasp, this classic Chain Link 1 Robina, Chain Link 2 Eglen combo was already beyond what these students could comprehend.
"But it's just a monster with 2700 ATK," Professor Crowler said, his eye twitching. "I'll show you right now why Fusion Summoning is the noblest of summoning methods."
"Ancient Gear Hound's effect activates! Once per turn, I can use it to Fusion Summon one 'Ancient Gear' Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck, using monsters from my hand or field as Fusion Material!"
"At this moment, Mist Valley Apex Avian's effect activates! When a Spell, Trap, or Monster Effect is activated, I can target one 'Mist Valley' card I control, return it to the hand, and if I do, negate that activation and destroy your card!"
"I'll return Mist Valley Apex Avian itself to my hand to negate your effect and destroy your Ancient Gear Hound!"
Ancient Gear Hound's core had just begun to glow, ready to Fusion Summon its ace monster, but the giant bird before Yūga Hōzumi became a fierce gale that swept over the hound, blowing it to pieces.
"Damn you! You dare to stop my noble Fusion Summon?" Professor Crowler gritted his teeth.
"Fine! I activate the Field Spell, Geartown!"
"Next, I activate the Spell Card, Ancient Gear Catapult!"
"Since I control no monsters, I can target one face-up card I control and destroy it to Special Summon one 'Ancient Gear' monster from my Deck, ignoring its summoning conditions!"
"I'll destroy my Field Spell, Geartown! Appear, the evolved form of the Academy's war machine! Ancient Gear Golem - Ultimate Pound!"
"And when Geartown is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, its effect activates! I can Special Summon one 'Ancient Gear' monster from my hand, Deck, or Graveyard!"
"I'll Special Summon Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon from my Deck!"
Ancient Gear Golem - Ultimate Pound ATK: 3000
Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon ATK: 3000
The rusty mechanical giant and dragon rose up before Professor Crowler, their presence bearing down on Yūga Hōzumi. It was so intimidating that the little penguin by Yūga Hōzumi's side began scurrying all over the field in a mix of fear and excitement.
"As expected of Director Crowler! Even after his monster's effect was negated, he could still so easily bring out our Academy's ace monsters," the senior students exclaimed in admiration. For them, the goal at the Academy was to join Obelisk Blue and earn the Ancient Gear deck exclusive to honors graduates. As for the geniuses who could graduate with their own custom decks, they wouldn't be here assisting with recruitment just for a few school credits.
"Professor Crowler's victory is sealed. Both Ancient Gear Golem - Ultimate Pound and Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon have more ATK than that frail penguin. This newcomer will pay the price for his arrogance."
Just then, Yūga Hōzumi reached out and scooped up the scurrying little penguin, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Oh, what terrifying monsters! So strong, way too strong! At this moment, I activate my Trap Card: Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town!"
