Just when I thought the cold would suck me dry, he pulled me to his chest. Dirk.
His warmth envelops me, stabilising my temperature. I pushed forward to get closer to his warmth only I didn't feel it. It was gone, replaced by a fiery chill.
I looked at his face but he just stood there, unfeeling. I opened my mouth to say something but no sound came through my lip. My fingers became heavy. When I lifted it to my face, I trembled at its sight.
Blood…blood. It was dripping on the snow, leaving a red mark like a burn scar.
I looked back at his face but he was no longer standing in front of me.
No, we were still standing opposite each other but no longer as close as before.
The more I stretched out my hands to meet him, the more he drifted from me.
I stumble to the ground. Tears swelled in my eyes and I closed my eyes. Memorising the pain, as a reminder of my loss, loss of warmth.
A familiar sound echo in the Hallow. I snapped my eyes open to the ceiling. White. My room was never painted white. It was all pink.
I made to sit up but the aching pain which shot through my body stopped me.
I moved my head around, taking in the room. I know this room.
This was the room I was in with Dirk yesterday. Where was he? Why was I the only one here?
My in between ache as if something had happened last night. But my clothes were still intact. Only the slight lifting of its edge as the result of my turning and tossing.
I groaned in pain as I grabbed my phone. I unlocked it to see 50+ missed calls. 10 from Doctor Addison and the rest from Aria and Bryce.
Bryce? Why had he called? We didn't have plans for the weekend did we?
I called him. He picked on the first ring.
"Where are you?" He asked without giving me a chance to say a word. I glance around the room. He was not aware that I had gone to a clubhouse last night and would definitely be mad if he knew that I spent the night in some celebrity private room.
"Home." I bite my lip
"Autumn Celina Grey, you dare lie to me?"
My stomach flipped, he caught me.
"Wait. Fine I…I…" I couldn't say that I was with Aria, they live together and what if I implicated her. He already knew that I have no other friends.
"I'll send you my location." I disconnected the call. He would have gone into a mini parents mode if I told him my location.
Aria's call came in shortly afterwards.
"Oh my God!" She squealed so loud that I had to pull the phone from my ear.
"You are alive!! Are you there? Autumn? Autumn?"
"I'm here." I answered
"Where the hell are you? Do you know how worried I was about you? I practically sat still with my hands crossed over my chest throughout the night, praying that nothing bad happened to you. Of all times you decided to seek solitude, you chose last night, huh? Answer me young lady." She rant on.
I held my left hand over my forehead, giving it a gentle massage against the headache. I left my phone on the bed while I climbed out of it.
"Are you okay? Autumn, why are you not responding? Why is your location blocked? Autumn you are making me talk a lot."
Aria's voice called out from the phone as a swift groan escaped from my lip. It hurts, my body aches.
I bent over to pick up the heels I wore the previous night which laid across the room.
"Aria can you come pick me?" I asked her cutting her from saying her next words.
"Where are you?"
"The clubhouse."
"Which…Oh my God. How… You know what I am coming to get you. I can't wait to hear the juicy jist."
I rolled my eyes at her remark. She was sure going to hear the juicy story when she got here.
I sent her my location and limped to the door I assumed is the bathroom.
The bathroom was exactly as I expected. Clean, neat, sparkling obvious that the owner was obsessive over cleanliness.
I stared back at the wall mirror. A tired eye looking back at me, fatigue enough to drown me.
On my left lobe was what seemed like a bite mark. This wasn't here yesterday.
Though it seemed a bit red, it didn't hurt as it looked to the eyes. I traced it with my hand and tried getting a clearer view of it from the mirror.
A knock came from the door. I opened it to see a young lady of about my age. Her blue and black clothes told me she was a worker here. I had seen it on the workers while I was downstairs.
"Sorry to bother you. Mr Cameron asked me to give you these." I took it from her. They were fresh clothes and towels.
"Thanks. Where is he now?"
"He is on his way." She said and turned to leave as if afraid to answer any more of my questions.
I shook my head, dismissing her action and closed back the bath
room door and this time I walked into the bathroom and stepped under the shower head.
