When I came out of the bathroom, I did not expect to see him. Dirk. He sat on the sofa close to the bed, like he belonged there. Of course, it was his room.
His aura made his short curled hair incredibly appealing to the eyes. He looked up his phone, meeting my eyes.
A tingling sensation crept through me from my back. He was hot. My heart raced when his face curled up in his usual smile.
I walked closer.
"Oh, you are out." He stood putting his phone into his pocket.
I nodded like some meek sheep.
"How are you feeling?" He asked. I felt a slow heat burn through my body as I recall memories of what I tried doing a few minutes ago in the bathroom.
Did we do something last night? Why was he asking about how I am feeling?
I shrugged, "I woke up feeling ache throughout my body." And pains in-between my legs. But I couldn't add that, it would be embarrassing.
"Do I need to take you to the hospital?" He asked, his eyes searching through mine hard.
"No. Trice brought some pain med over." I removed the towel covering my hair. I was going to blow dry it.
"Trice, who's Trice?"
"Oh, one of the workers. You called her to send over some dresses for me, remember?"
"I did?" I turned to look at him.
"You didn't?" He shook his head and I felt my stomach drop. If he hadn't called her, then how did she know I was in his room?
Or maybe I had read the name wrong.
My phone rang from the bed, breaking us from our thoughts. It was Aria. I forgot I had called her to come pick me up.
"Where are you? I am at the bar downstairs?"
"I'm coming." I said the call disconnected followed by a beep. It was a message from Doctor Addison.
'Where are you?' it read.
Jeesh! I had forgotten to call her back. I hurriedly folded the dress I had worn yesterday into a plastic bag.
Aria would kill me if anything was to happen to it, it was her favourite dress. I was surprised she had let me borrow it.
Dirk walked to the window and looked out from it. Maintaining his poise posture. He had not said a word since after the call from Aria.
"You are staring." He said.
"How did you know? It's not like you have an eye behind your head, do you?" I said before I could stop myself.
"I don't need to have an eye behind my head to know that you are drooling right now." He turned slightly. "Goodbye."
He turned back to the window.
But I didn't leave. I stood there staring at his back. Was he dismissing me just like that? Was it another one night stand?
He looked back at me.
"You are not leaving?"
"Was I another one night stand to you?" I asked instead. His brows rose slightly.
"What are you talking about?"
"Was I just a bed warmer for you last night?" He didn't answer.
Rather he walked over to me, his figure looming over mine and asked
"Bed warmer? What do you think happened last night?" I didn't know.
All I knew was I woke up tired and somehow sore in-between my legs.
He lifted my chin with his hand,
"Can't talk now, huh?" My pulse raced as I felt his hand on my skin.
"Did we not do the deed last night?" I curl my toe as I wait for his reply, laughter, anything. But none came.
I looked up to see his face, our lips inch apart.
"What deed?" His hoarse voice says after a few minutes, breaking the silence.
I swallowed. The courage I felt a while ago now gone. He stepped away. Leaving me to steady my racing heart.
"Nothing happened last night. I slept over at a friend's house, miss…?"
Nothing happened? Then why did I feel so sore earlier? My cheeks burned, embarrassed I made to leave.
I can't believe that I brought up this with Dirk. Even the way he had paused to look at me, and the silence that came with it screamed more volume than any word could.
But something stopped me. Dirk's hand. He pulled me closer to himself.
"Are you upset that nothing happened?" I paused, was I upset? No I wasn't. I was just embarrassed, angry perhaps for bringing it up.
He leaned over to my ear and whispered "We can do it now if you like. After all you were the one who had run from me when I wanted to." He cocked his eyebrows, waiting on my reply.
"That was not even the point." I stepped away from him but his hand still held me by my waist.
And without warning, he pulled me for a kiss.
His cologne filled my breath, making it almost impossible to breathe.
His lips capture mine in a slow, gentle manner almost as a tease.
I have never been kissed before but this kiss made me imagine being absorbed in it forever. And I was willing to be until… my phone rang.
I broke off the kiss, and swung the phone from my purse. Aria.
Without sparing him any more glance, I made for the door. If I stayed any longer, I was afraid I was going to do something crazy, something I might regret in the future.
I had planned to meet Aria back in her car but things do not always go as planned.
Just as I stepped out of the room, swims of people pushed ove
r me, almost causing me to trip, my face to the ground had it not been for a hand which held me from falling.
