Chapter 212 - Chapter 212 Destroyed Piece By Piece

Tonia's POV

The sterile scent of antiseptic pulled me from unconsciousness hours later. Every muscle in my body ached, but the sharp pain that had consumed me earlier had finally dulled to a manageable throb.

My first thought wasn't about the Luna or the accusations. Instead, my mind fixated on the crimson stain I remembered seeing on my thighs before everything went black.

"Hey." Lucien's voice cut through the fog in my head.

I turned to find him sitting in the chair beside my bed, his usual warmth completely absent. His eyes held nothing but raw grief.

"My baby." My hand instinctively moved toward my stomach, but something yanked it back. Metal clinked against the bed frame.

Horror washed over me as I stared down at the handcuffs securing both my wrists to the hospital rails.

This couldn't be happening. They had no right to restrain me like some common criminal.

"You need to stay calm, Tonia." Lucien's voice carried a warning as I pulled against the restraints.
