Faye's POV
Something inside me had snapped. Logic abandoned me completely as I found myself racing through the frozen landscape, my boots sliding against the icy ground. The frigid air burned my lungs with each desperate breath, but I kept running.
Hardy's massive silhouette moved ahead of me through the darkness, his powerful form cutting through the snow like a predator born for this wilderness. The crimson moon above bathed everything in an ominous red light, making the world look like it was bleeding.
My heart hammered against my ribs. What was I doing? This was madness, pure and simple. Yet my legs kept moving, carrying me deeper into danger.
Then the world exploded.
Something massive plummeted from the sky, a blur of motion that crashed into Hardy with devastating force. The collision sent shockwaves through the ground, snow erupting in all directions like a small avalanche. My blood turned to ice as I finally got a clear look at the attacker.
