Chapter 10 - Living In His Home

Lucy's POV

Finally, back at the mansion after the awkward wedding, I wasted no time ripping off the veil from my head when entering the suite.

Mayer had put much effort into decorating the room with beautiful rose petals and colorful candles, everywhere glittering like we were real newlyweds on a honeymoon, as we should be. But that wasn't it.

I sat quietly on the edge of the bed, staring blankly into the space and touching the necklace on my neck. It was my mom's—the one I had seen inside the wardrobe. For reasons best known to them, I was given it to wear. And I still haven't found the answer to why it was here in the first place.

My head spun greatly with confusing questions, I wasn't able to gather the courage to ask. They were about mysterious things concerning Ryker and this baby.

Everything was still strange, even to the point that I didn't feel married. I felt owned.

Just when I thought Ryker wasn't coming again, he entered the room with half of his shirt unbuttoned, dripping hot, a walking temptation, but his eyes were unreadable.

He made a knowing pause just in the doorway.

"You will sleep here," he said. "I'll stay and get myself comfortable down the hall. Just for now."

I arched an eyebrow. "Cold feet, arrogant and annoying Alpha."

He stepped too close, so I feared what would happen next. "Don't dare tempt me, Lucy. This marriage isn't like the regular one. There are rules to be obeyed. Intimacy is not allowed. There are no distractions of any type."

My lips curled up in a snarl. "Then you should stop giving me the look, screaming like you want to devour me raw and break every single one of the rules you set yourself."

He didn't deny it, not even with his eyes.

Didn't utter a word either.

He just turned. I guess the heat was too much for him, so he left.

He slammed the door so hard behind him.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is exactly three days since our awkward wedding. There is still no honeymoon, and there is still no one to provide me with the answers I need. I wasn't allowed to access the kitchen, at least something to keep me engaged and not get bored to death, because apparently, "Luna doesn't dirty her hands cooking."

But I was bored to the point of sickness. And being locked up, doing nothing in a mansion as big as this? That's very dangerous.

I had already kept myself engaged and helpful by counting the tiles in my bathroom, and they were 68. I also ensured to memorize Mayer's breakfast rotation, which often comes as eggs with no seasoning, not even a little, very blunt and even reorganized my closet twice, ensuring everything was sorted out by color.

So yeah… I was doing anything I could to keep myself sane, so I kept exploring.

And let me shock you—this place had many layers. Hallways gave way to hundreds of other hallways, and doors led into many rooms. Inside them was furniture no one had ever used, not even sitting on it once. There were different paintings of wolves and different men, and they probably always haunted the place on Tuesdays.

And then, I saw it, the strange door.

It was different from the rest, black wood. No handle on the door. Just an electric keypad.

Oh no.

A keypad to stop people from entering.

You know that bubbling feeling one gets once you are about to do something crazy? Your gut screams, "Go ahead," but an obedient part of you says, "Nope, go girl, just press something unique. Who knows?"

Yeah. Of course, I pressed something just as my guts dared me.

Beep with red signs.

"Access Denied completely."

Maybe, it would take special numbers to unlock the door.

"Hello, anyone in?" I said thunderously, pretending someone was nearby and ready to answer me. "It's just Lucy, no hard feelings, the household's temporary wife. Totally harmless, just wandering around to ease my bored heart. Just searching for whatever isn't looking for me, just excited to explore and free the soul you buried alive."

There was a deafening silence.

Even way more creepy silence.

I heard approaching footsteps.

I stepped back, about to take to my heels, when Ryker appeared just at the end of the hallway, annoyingly with his shirt still half open. It was like something new for him recently. I had given him more names than he could remember.

"Lost?" he asked when approaching me.

"More like bored and curious, ready for adventure."

"You shouldn't wander around places like this."

"Well, that was before I became married to you. Since I live here now, I have been granted access to any part of the house. The contract even states that I can access anywhere. Why the restrictions?"

"Well, that's the contract, the door here says otherwise."

"What exactly is inside?" I found myself asking like he was going to tell me.

"Nothing that would be of any concern to you."

"That's not how to say a no."

He took two quick steps closer, trapping me between the walls, his eyes narrowing. "It's just a room. And a locked one, nothing serious. That's all you should know about here, simple."

"No rebellious ex-wives chained against their wishes to the wall?"

He didn't even laugh.

"Lucy," he called out my name sternly, his voice a deliberate warning. "You should learn to stick to your side of the house. Many things in this house don't concern you. Don't do too much because you are carrying my blood, be warned."

"And yet, I am here, restless and troubled, very concerned."

"Let it go finally," he murmured between gritted teeth.

"Make me do that because it seems impossible for me."

"If you as much as come close to this door, talk more of touching it ever again…"

"Yes, what?" I whispered, though shaking inside.

"…I'll gratefully take that as you giving me your consent to touch and romance you."

My knees still intact? Of course, gone.

Sanity check intact? I was lost...

He drew closer to me, my whole body disappointed by his tone. Just as he was about cupping my boobs, he stopped and muttered something which I didn't hear clearly.

'Just 10 days, Ryker, don't mess things up.'

I could not sleep that night because I wanted to find out what would happen in 10 days.

I returned to the keypad door when everyone was asleep.

Not knowing how to open it, I whispered in front of it...

"What exactly are you hiding in here, Ryker?"

And the door that has refused to open for me?

It blinked green and clicked open. That was the password!
