Meng Ran's routine life finally saw some turbulence.
However, this turbulence didn't come from dangerous trouble, but from normal school life.
Midtown High School was holding a Parents' Day, requiring students to bring their parents to school for activities. The activities included watching performances together, allowing parents to experience Midtown High School's excellent cultural atmosphere, and also providing an opportunity for Midtown High School to promote itself, laying a good foundation for future admissions.
Both of Meng Ran's parents came. Zhao Li specifically canceled a full day's schedule to attend this event, and Meng Huo, as Ms. Zhao Li's 'handbag,' naturally couldn't be absent.
After breakfast early in the morning, the Meng Ran family drove to the school.
Upon arriving at the school, it was already packed with people. Students were everywhere, wandering around with their parents, and the Meng Ran family gradually blended into the bustling atmosphere.
After strolling with his parents for a while, Meng Ran met Peter and Uncle Ben. They greeted each other and started walking together. After a while, they saw Gwen with her father George, and Mary Jane with her mother.
Meng Ran and the others were all acquaintances, so they introduced their parents to each other.
This was the first time Meng Ran's parents met Gwen and her father, and also the first time George met Meng Ran's parents.
Both sides engaged in friendly and cordial exchanges, leaving a good impression on each other.
George, of course, had some understanding of Gwen and Meng Ran's situation. Only a fool wouldn't notice how closely the two youngsters were interacting.
Zhao Li and Meng Huo felt the same way. Looking at the well-behaved and beautiful Gwen, they both thought Meng Ran had excellent taste.
Peter and Mary Jane were chatting. Uncle Ben was much more humorous and talkative than Peter, and their conversation was very lively.
As it was getting close to the performance time, Meng Ran and his group walked towards the performance venue, chatting along the way.
As they approached the entrance, Peter and Meng Ran saw Harry. Harry hadn't been attending school much lately, always taking leave, seemingly due to some family matters.
Meng Ran and Peter greeted Harry, and Harry responded enthusiastically. He was in a very good mood today; his father's health had finally improved, and he could now accompany him to the Parents' Day activities.
Harry introduced Meng Ran and Norman to each other. After greeting Harry, Meng Ran and Peter both looked at the handsome middle-aged man in front of them with some curiosity.
They had known Harry for a while, but this was Meng Ran's first time meeting Harry's father. As for Peter, although he had known Harry longer, he also had never met Harry's father.
Norman smiled gently, greeting Meng Ran, Peter, and the other parents. Harry was also very happy to walk with Peter and Meng Ran, chatting about recent events.
Finally, they arrived at the viewing area for the performances. The group took their seats and began watching the show. Meng Ran also saw Flash and his parents.
Ever since Meng Ran transferred and had a conflict with him, Flash's personality had improved a lot. He no longer bullied other classmates and focused on playing basketball.
After watching the performances, Meng Ran parted ways with the others. Everyone took their parents to wander around a bit more, then headed to the cafeteria for lunch. In the afternoon, there were inter-school sports competitions to watch, such as basketball, rugby, and baseball.
After wandering with his parents for a while, Meng Ran arrived at the cafeteria. The cafeteria's menu was quite varied, but it was mostly American cuisine with some Mexican and other dishes; Chinese food was basically just rice.
Just as Meng Ran and his parents sat down to eat, Harry and his father, Norman, not far away, caught Meng Ran's attention. Norman told Harry to go buy food first, then started talking to another parent, but the atmosphere didn't seem very pleasant.
Meng Ran listened to their conversation; this distance was, of course, nothing to him.
The man arrogantly said to Norman, "You're really lucky. I thought the next time I saw you would be to lay flowers on your grave."
Norman said coldly, "McKen, your mouth is still as foul as ever. What's the use of saying all this? I'm already well. Osborn Group will still be under my control."
McKen listened to Norman's words and showed a mocking smile: "It seems you still don't know your situation, poor Norman. Let me tell you a little something."
McKen then leaned closer to Norman's ear and whispered, "Tomorrow's shareholders' meeting is when you're out, Norman. You really should have just died. At least then you would be remembered as a success."
Upon hearing McKen's words, Norman's eyes gleamed with fierce light, and a quiet green glow emerged from their depths. He grabbed McKen by the neck.
McKen was laughing triumphantly when he was suddenly grabbed by the neck. For a moment, he was short of breath, coughing and sputtering.
He forcefully grabbed Norman's hands, trying to pry them open, but Norman's large hands were as strong as pliers, leaving him helpless.
Their actions also attracted the attention of nearby parents, who all looked over. Harry, at this moment, had finished getting his food and was walking towards Norman.
Norman saw Harry approaching and released his hand. McKen finally broke free, rubbing his reddened neck and glaring fiercely at Norman.
Norman remained calm, staring back into McKen's eyes, but the green light in his eyes intensified. Finally, McKen snorted and turned to walk away.
Harry came up to Norman, asking somewhat puzzled, "Dad, did something happen?"
Norman smiled at this, saying, "Nothing happened. That's my colleague; we just talked about some things."
Then Norman took the plate from Harry's hand, and the two walked towards a table.
Meng Ran ate his meal while paying attention to the situation over there.
The conversation and dispute just now seemed a bit peculiar to Meng Ran. Harry's father, Norman Osborn, had been so ill he was almost dying, and then he had recovered within the last few days.
If he had recovered, then what was with the ferocity and green light in Norman's eyes just now, and that strength? Did this medicine come with colored contacts?
Or was Norman this strong before he got sick, and could he recover his strength as soon as he was cured?
Meng Ran pondered Norman's somewhat strange aspects, and couldn't help but think, "Could it be that Uncle Norman was also bitten by a spider?"
"Are these spiders sold in bulk? Why are there so many, and all related to Osborn Group?"
"Could it be a new drug from Osborn Group that can make people stronger?"
Meng Ran thought hard but couldn't figure it out.
"Forget it, I'll go to the base later and tell them about it. We can analyze it together."
Meng Ran reined in his thoughts and stopped thinking about the matter.
After the afternoon activities ended, Meng Ran said goodbye to his family and quickly rushed to the secret base.
Venom was very unhappy with Meng Ran's behavior. He could have eaten ribs in a little while, but now he had to go out again. Waaah, the delicious ribs are gone.
Feeling Venom's emotions, Meng Ran could only comfort him while on his way, "It's okay. I just told Peter to bring some pizza and drinks on his way. The pizza near Peter's house is really good. Don't you remember you ate two big ones last time?"
Listening to Meng Ran, Venom still whined, "I didn't eat anything good for lunch, and now you won't let me eat ribs in the afternoon. Pizza is okay, but it can't compare to ribs."
Meng Ran smiled at this, "Then I'll get you three pizzas today, plus a large bottle of cola."
Venom finally cheered up a bit: "Alright then, but I want ice-cold Pepsi, the slushy kind!"
Meng Ran laughed, "No problem! I'll tell Peter to buy a bit more."
With Meng Ran's speed, combining flashing and wave-stepping, he quickly arrived at the secret base.
Soon after Meng Ran entered, Peter also arrived at the base, carrying two large bags of things.
"Phew! Spider-Man delivery! This is too hard, carrying so many things and swinging around," Peter complained.
Meng Ran and the others arranged the pizzas while chatting with Peter. Venom also poked his head out from Meng Ran's shoulder, revealing his cute head and saying in a husky voice, "Hey! Little Spider, my cola wasn't shaken too much, was it?"
Peter said somewhat guiltily, "Probably... not. My hands are pretty steady."
Venom looked at him suspiciously, then unscrewed the cap.
Then, a column of cola fizz sprayed from the bottle, hitting Venom in the face.
Venom instantly bared his large mouth and chased after Peter, intending to bite him.
Peter quickly ran away, then started circling Venom around the base.
Meng Ran, Gwen, and Mary Jane calmly ate pizza and watched the show.
After a while, Meng Ran shouted to Venom, "The pizza will be gone if you don't come over soon!"
Upon hearing this, Venom immediately shrank back and began to devour the pizza. Peter was not as delicious as pizza.
Peter was also relieved and finally sat down, biting into a slice of pizza.
Seeing Peter sit down, Meng Ran began to tell everyone about the events of the day.
Hearing Meng Ran's description, everyone felt that something was abnormal and they were all a bit worried.
Meng Ran said, "Although it's a good thing that Uncle Norman's health has improved, after all, we don't want to see Harry sad, but I always feel that things are not that simple."
Gwen also nodded, "Harry definitely wants his father to get better. He was really happy with Uncle Norman today."
"But we can't ignore the abnormalities. We must conduct some investigation to prevent any sudden situations."
Peter and Mary Jane also nodded. Then Mary Jane said, "I can investigate Osborn Corporation with Little White to see if we can penetrate it and obtain some intelligence. With Little White's computing power, it shouldn't be a problem."
Peter also said, "I think we can also visit Harry and Uncle Norman, to observe them up close again."
Meng Ran also nodded, "That's a good idea. So the three of us will visit Harry tomorrow, and Mary and Little White will search for information."
The group nodded, all indicating that the plan was feasible.
