Chapter 9 - Why is the futon so soft this morning?

«Aoshi… my sweet, beloved Aoshi… wake up, sleepyhead, or you'll be late for university,» Eliss whispers, her voice soft, warm, and overflowing with affection as she leans over him, gently shaking his shoulder.

«Y-Yeah, just one more minute… just one minute…» he mumbles, without even opening his eyes. He rolls over inside the futon, turning his back to her.

Ever since Eliss suddenly moved in three days ago, he's had to spend his last savings on a second futon — there's no way he can keep sleeping in the bathtub for as long as she stays.

«If you won't wake up nicely…» Eliss smirks, her lips curling with mischief.

W-What… is this feeling? So soft… so warm… It's like I'm lying on a cloud. Aoshi's still half-asleep. Yeah… soft, warm, fluffy… a cloud…

His eyes snap open in an instant.

Wait… I don't have a futon made of clouds! — Nobody does.

That realization wipes away the last trace of drowsiness. No — that soft, warm pressure against his back isn't a cloud.

«E-Eliss… what on earth are you doing?!» Aoshi stammers, his face turning as red as a siren light.

It's clear now — if it isn't a cloud, then there's only one possible answer. The only thing that could feel this soft, this warm were Eliss's massive, heavenly breasts pressing against his back — over and over — Boing, boing, boing!

«Obviously, I'm waking you up! Isn't this how a loving wife wakes her darling husband?» Eliss teases, pressing her chest against him faster and faster.

Yesterday she was just my girlfriend, and today she's already calling herself my sweet wife? What's next — divorce?

«How many times do I have to tell you not to crawl into my futon every morning?! I spent a fortune on yours — so use it!» Aoshi blurts out.

Man, I can't wait for that damn divorce to come through… though, I have to admit — it feels amazing. Her unreal, princess-sized breasts pressed against me — too amazing, damn it!

Morning physics + Eliss's breasts pressed against my back = you can do the math.

If any of this were real — if Eliss really loved me — it'd be heaven. Every guy's dream come true — probably even in whatever world she's from.

She's so sweet, so affectionate, so caring… sure, maybe a little too jealous, and when she gets angry, it's almost scary how much she really looks like a demon. But that's part of what makes her so… perfect.

Yeah, Eliss is perfect. Too perfect to actually fall for someone like me. This is just a pleasant illusion — something that'll vanish the moment she finds a way to break the charm binding her to me. And when that happens, she'll definitely make me pay if I so much as think of taking advantage of her. I don't even want to think about what would happen if I ever made a demon princess mad.

But worse than that… if I let myself get too emotionally involved, I might actually start feeling something for her — and that would be a total disaster. The pain from that cruel breakup with Miori was more than enough. Even now, Eliss barely gives me a second to breathe, yet the memories still haunt me. No way I'm falling for that again.

All I can do now is grit my teeth and pray this ridiculous story ends soon.

Aoshi shoots out of the futon like toothpaste exploding from a squeezed tube.

Breakfast — prepared by Eliss. Done. ✅️

Quick wash. Done. ✅️

Clothes on. Done. ✅️

Bag checked. Done. ✅️

Lunch…

Crap, lunch! I completely forgot! ❌️

«Sweetheart, why are you panicking like that?» Eliss asks, her tone filled with sweet concern.

Aoshi isn't just panicking — he's in full-blown despair.

Damn it, how am I supposed to survive until the afternoon without food?! I don't even have a single yen left — so I can't buy anything either! And I'm already running late! Why didn't Eliss wake me up earlier?!

Oh wait… she did.

Damn it.

«Looking for this, darling?» Eliss asks with a radiant, steel-melting smile as she holds out a lunch box to him.

Aoshi's eyes practically sparkle — it's a bento!

When did she even make it? This morning? Along with breakfast? Whatever — the only thing that matters is…

«Eliss, you're a lifesaver! I owe you big time!» Aoshi cries.

«Anything for my dear husband,» Eliss says with proud satisfaction. «Now that everything's ready, we can go.»

«Yeah, I'm — wait… we can go? We who?» Aoshi repeats, puzzled — but not really surprised. After all, it's just the two of them living together.

«Isn't it obvious? You and me, my love! I saved you from being late and from starving — so the least you can do is take me with you!»

Wouldn't surprise me if she planned this whole thing from the start — just to guilt-trip me into saying yes…

«I've never seen the place where you humans study! I'm dying to know what it's like,» she insists, her voice dripping with sweetness. «Please, my love, take me with you — just this once! I promise I won't ask again! Please, pleaaase—»

«Fine, fine!» he interrupts, clearly worn down. «But listen — Takuma's going to be there, you know, the guy who came over a few days ago. To him, you're still my cleaning lady, and I have no idea how I'll explain you tagging along. I'll think of something. Just remember — you're not my girlfriend, got it? I'll tell him the truth after class.»

Eliss nods eagerly, but that mischievous grin says she's planning to do the exact opposite.

Aoshi sighs deeply, steeling himself.

Let's hope for the best… though judging by that face, I already know it's going to be a disaster.
