Chapter 1 - The Secretary

Aura sat in front of her desk waiting for the man of her dreams to appear. He was late today. What happened?

She looked quite troubled. Orion was always on time. Even with that, he would always call if something came up. Why is he.....

"What's with that face?" His voice destroyed her thoughts. She looked up and met his eyes.

"Mr Wilder, good morning, sir." She mumbled to herself. He sure heard her.

"Come to my office!" He commanded and left for her to trail behind him.

Aura did not give it a second thought and followed her boss into his office.

"Sit down," he offered.

Aura was confused.

"Sir, should I bring your____"

"Sit down!" He instructed.

Why was he like this? Aura knew he would always demand his coffee whenever he was in. What happened today? What's going on? She studied his features.

His jawline looked well-defined. His prominent cheekbones made his face attractive. She never forgot his forehead, it was as smooth as ever.

Damn, his clear blue eyes said it all. He looked kind of troubled, but he maintained that manly attitude around his face. He seemed to have forgotten she was in front of him and licked his pink lips.

Aura's face turned red. A smile crept up on her face, lighting up her mood.

*****

Orion licked his lips, completely forgetting that his secretary was in front of him. He hissed trying to cover up his act.

"I need a favour from you." He began.

Aura's heart skipped. Did he need her that badly? He never took it upon himself to tell her to do something for him, since her two years of working for him.

"I'm fully aware that you're my secretary and that we are to maintain the code of a boss and his employee.

He paused after that. Orion didn't want to but had to. Besides, he didn't have anyone in mind. The secretary was all that he got.

"I want you to come to my place tomorrow. Dress formally. You won't be working tomorrow. Just come here, I have a mission for you to do.

Aura looked taken aback. What was he insinuating? He needed her to do something..... Going to his place?

That did not sound like the Orion she had known for two years. He never looked at her. He always maintained that code of work ethics. Always gave her a cold shoulder, though he remembered he once saved her life.

What was going on?

The secretary is going on a mission? His house?

Aura stared at the carpet underneath her feet.

"Aura,"

Did he just mention her name?

He had never taken her name from his lips before.

What she would hear is....

"Please be there." He was pleading with her.

Orion relaxed in his seat. He didn't have any choice. The company was his life. There's no way he would lose it to his cousin.

"You may leave," he told her.

"Should I bring your coffee?" She asked before exiting through the door. He didn't reply.

***

Aura stood behind his door. What did he say to her? Did she hear him correctly? He was even pleading with her to be there.

Orion, what is it that you want me to do for you?

As long as she remembered, he never wanted her in his house. He always shoved the idea of her coming to his place to complete a project. Please, what is it?

She went back to her seat in deep thought and did not see him appear in front of her.

"I'm holding a meeting with the heads of the groups, I want you to go home and prepare for tomorrow." She heard his voice.

"Aura, Aura, are you there?

"Yes sir. It's just that I'm a little confused." She told him.

"It's nothing serious, just go home and prepare for tomorrow. Be there at eight."

He was already on his way when he said that line.

Aura sat there with a lot of questions which she knew there would be no answers to.

She took her handbag and left the place. She did nothing to her place. It was eleven. Many of the employees were on break. Gossip would surely be in the air.

She walked straight to the exit after coming out of the elevator. She was grateful for one thing. Her boss didn't allow her to use the staircase. Orion allowed her to use his private elevator. It was just the two of them on that floor. No one was allowed there, except his family. Even with that, he never allowed them.

Except for his grandfather.

Beckett, the receptionist stared at her.

"Why are you leaving this early?" She tried to inquire from Aura about the boss's mood today. He didn't look all right when he entered.

"Go and ask him. I have no idea." Aura said with a sly smile.

"This girl, always getting on my nerves," Beckett said in between gritted teeth.

She had worked there for five years, and she had only been there for two years, but she never gave her that respect.

"I need to teach her a lesson."
