As they entered the school, Cia was worried about Layla being separated. Vorden assured her Layla could take care of herself. Logan was looking for the server room to add them to the school roster. Once found, Logan went in by himself, the others stood guard.
Cia asked what she was like before she lost her memory. Vorden told her she was confident. Lana bit her tongue. She didn't know if this Cia was better or worse because she had never spoken to her before. She simply saw her actions and took an immediate dislike toward her.
Logan was nervous after his experience in the mountain. After a few moments of trying to talk to the computer, it worked. He added all five of them into the system. He was also able to determine there were 500 students between all the buildings and only one year group. Each class had 20 students at most.
They went to classroom D and stood outside the door. They heard a female voice ask if they were going to stay out there all day. Logan entered first with Lana following Cia in. Sad to say it but she was afraid Cia would faint. The seats were arranged like a cinema and the teacher was in the middle talking. Fred said the students were mega late. The teacher told him to stop talking.
She asked the new students who they were and Logan informed her they were her students. He bowed down, sorry he was late and the others followed suit. She told them it was impossible as she completed roll call already. Logan asked her if it was possible if she made a mistake. She said no but checked again anyway and found four new names.
She made an off comment about last-minute changes and told them to find a seat. She gave Lana a look when she noticed the girl carrying a beast on her back. Vorden found a seat next to Fred and Snow, Cia sat with some girls, Logan sat by a large boy. Lana got stuck sitting at the very front where no one likes to sit. The teacher then restarted and wrote her name on the board. Silver.
Logan had told them he changed their names so they start with B in the system instead of what it actually starts with.
Logan noticed from the back of the class the males all looked at Silver with doe eyes, paying rapt attention. Most of the girls were not. After introducing herself, Silver asked the class to state their names and family. Lucky for Lana, she started at the back coming forward then back in a zig zag pattern, ending with Lana.
Silver picked a boy who came forward and gave her a gift before introducing himself as Tullen Difonde from the 9th family. He tried to go on, but she shooed him off. Logan finally realized the boys thought she was beautiful. She had symmetrical features and he began day dreaming about an even more symmetrical robot. A square head, flat nose and eyes perfectly located.
The introductions went on and Vorden began to worry he didn't have a gift for Silver so he asked Fred to his left. Fred said he was fine. It was just a thing some of the boys got together and decided on. Cia was the first of their group to go and was trembling like a leaf when she said her name was Bia from the 10th.
Vorden had worry across his face for her. Was it selfish to want her along for her ability? He truly didn't care if she died but he began to think on whether he was being cruel. Was this torture for her? Vorden heard Fred state it was no wonder she was so nervous. The atmosphere in the room even changed.
Silver put a hand on Cia's shoulder and told her to work hard and maybe another family would pick her up. Another boy said he was from the tenth. Vorden was next, calling himself Borden from the tenth. Fred told him not to worry, he'd look after him. Logan went and finally Lana went forward. She extended her hand and produced a silver rose and handed it to Silver.
"Once again, I apologize for our tardiness." She turned to the class, "I'm Bana from the tenth." She pointed to her shoulder area, "and this little guy that caused us to be late is Caser. We needed to hunt his food and he needed to … take a stop … before entering." Her face turned red and she quickly took her seat.
Silver thanked everyone for the introductions then wrote something else on the board.
Lesson 001: How to Drink Blood.
She then led the class to the gym where four bodies were laid out on the floor. They were asked to get in 4 groups of six. There was chatting among the students. "is that a human body," "they look like us, right." Silver shot them a menacing glance. "Of course, they are not real humans. These are from our science department to replicate human flesh." Logan was intrigued that such technology was used in this way.
"They are filled with a red liquid the same consistency as blood but no real blood is used. We understand that not everyone has a strong will yet and it would be cruel to subject you to that on your first day. This skill is required in case you end up in a situation where you will need to extract it yourself. Does anyone know how?"
She pointed to Vorden. He replied, "your fangs?"
Her response was that it was the most efficient way, yes. Then saliva would heal the wound. What is the problem with that? The issue was biting produced a hormone that causes pleasure which a human can get addicted to. She demonstrated elongating her finger and using it to cut the flesh. She then licked her finger and used it to heal the wound. Lana realized she could create a thorn on her fingertip but could not seal the wound with saliva. She decided to follow the lead of the others.
In their group was Logan, Cia, Vorden, Lana, the other boy from the tenth Timmy and they still needed a sixth. Vorden asked him to join and he was overjoyed that someone wanted him in their group. Timmy reminded Vorden of when he first met Peter, the day Lana had seen the three boys on the platform. Timid and shy, thinking he wasn't going to be liked. Logan had tried recruiting a sixth and was rejected at all requests. Timmy said it was to be expected because they were all from the tenth.
The strays were trying to join Snow and Fred instead of going with the tenth's group. Ultimately, Fred chose to leave his group and join Vorden. Fred said he thought they were cool this morning so he decided to join them. As they headed to their dummies, Cia's brain was stuck on what Silver said they would learn in the future as part of this lesson. Memory Loss. She realized vampires could do this and that Quinn was the only vampire she knew. Did he do this to her?
