Phil introduced every subclass to the class that was in attendance. To Layla it took forever. However, she found it all interesting despite the length of time it took him to explain everything. She had learned a lot of basic information about herself and others. It was now lunch time but they were told when they returned, they would be in the library to continue learning about themselves.
Layla soon found out they were meant to bring their own lunches due to specified diets based on what subclass they were. Logan had all the food pills with him as well. Amy asked if her turner forgot to send her some food. Layla found out the term "turner" was used instead of "master" meaning the vampire that turned them. If the subclasses had children, those children would stay in the same family.
Amy had meat, rice and veggies and offered some to Layla. The group had food pills that morning before joining the school so she wasn't hungry but it could not replace the taste of food. Layla realized this strange girl wasn't a bad person though she wondered after she hit that boy earlier.
All the girls chatted away and ended up talking about boys. Who did they like, was it someone in the class, etc. Layla told her it wasn't anyone in the class. Amy started to pry, "one of the boys from earlier?" Layla responded in the negative. "You're turner?"
Layla blushed. That made Amy even more curious because only Nobles and higher could turn a human.
They heard a commotion and Amy told Layla to keep her head down because of who was coming over. The boy started making comments about all the pretty girls. Amy told Xander to go way and return to the main campus, lunch was nearly over. Xander stated he was trying to find out if any of her pretty friends wanted to accompany him after school. He got away with a lot because he was the most promising student. He and Amy had grown up together and she hated his arrogant air.
He then noticed Layla, her head down and asked who she was. She decided to turn around and look at him because she'd be acting weird if she didn't. He pretended to be instantly smitten. He talked about her cute horns, soft white skin and innocent eyes. He reached forward and grabbed both of her hands and asked her to go out with him. She couldn't believe a complete stranger dared to enter her personal space like that. She threw spiritual chains at him and the girls all ran back to class.
Amy congratulated her on her thinking. She warned Layla that he was a perv and to watch out. The other girls may turn on her to get on his good side. The students were counted then taken to the library so they could research their own subclass.
The regular Hannya was called the Hannya Nanmanari. The next stage was Chunari Hannya that had sharp, long horns, tusks for fangs, and powerful magic. The next level was Honnari Hannya. This had a serpentine body and a fire breath weapon. They were fast and agile but no magic. There was a fourth form that was being researched at the time the book was written so it wasn't documented.

Xander was stuck there until the chains went away declaring she would go out with him and it would be her honor to do so.
On the way back from lunch, the group heard a male voice asking if a person was from the thirteenth. They then noticed a boy had another boy up against the wall. The boy was explaining to Xander, calling him by name, that the family had nothing to do with it. The boy had acted alone.
Xander's grudge was not, in fact, against Fex or the family but against the wight who had beaten him in front of all the leaders. He blamed the whole family because he didn't know where the wight had come from. He decided to let off some steam on an unsuspecting member of the thirteenth.
Fred turned to enter the classroom but someone else continued to walk forward. It was Vorden. Logan and Lana were on standby. Just as Xander was getting ready to punch the kid, Vorden pushed his fist so it hit the wall instead saying, "What the fuck do you think you're doing?"
Vorden's mind had gone to what happened to Peter and could not stand by and watch it happen. Xander called him a nobody who uses beast weapons because he can't rely on his own strength because he's too weak.
Silver walked into the area just then, noticing the situation. She shot daggers at Xander with her eyes. Xander then walked away. He had not done anything yet so there was nothing she could get him for. The boy and Silver both thanked Vorden. He said he couldn't stand seeing things like that.
The rest of the day was short as the school wanted to give the students time to explore campus. The students had been given room cards. Their dorms were in the upper floors of the same building, as it was for the other classes as well. The fourth building was the library.
As Silver's class was emptying out, she asked Vorden, calling him Borden, to watch his back. Xander was favored by those who run the school. She could protect him if she saw but there was no guarantee she would always be there, especially with him being from the tenth. Lana timidly approached her motioning for the others to wait for her outside the door. Vorden didn't listen and stood inside the door.
"Teacher Silver, I'm afraid I've been so nervous all day that I fear my brain is not working correctly. Can you tell me why the Class Cs were not in the canteen at lunch?"
Silver replied tenderly, "they are provided food by their families as they each have specified diets."
At that moment, Lana's face exploded in alarm. Then she started crying. "I thought when I was told to make sure our friend ate, I was supposed to make sure she got food in the canteen and no one prevented her from eating! Please, I know you said we were to stay on campus but I need to cook her meals for her or she won't eat!"
Silver looked at her with some sympathy. "Why would you be the one providing her food?"
Lana shifted her feet. "It's… my ability… Ma'am." She then rushed out her words, "nothing about me is normal. I grow plants which are eaten by some members of the tenth, which includes my friend."
Silver nodded. "I'll get her to contact you. Can you go prepare her some food?"
Lana nodded. "I can make her three meals at once so I will only need to see her once a day if it makes things easier. I don't want anyone to think there are favorites or anything but she needs to eat and I don't want to get in trouble for not taking care of her."
Silver nodded. "Go prepare her food. She will contact you." Lana gave Silver her name and left with Vorden who was going to his room to avoid getting in a fight. Logan went to the library and Cia went to her room to brood over her missing memories.
In Vorden's room, Lana cooked several meals including something for herself. She didn't eat meat and pretended she wasn't hungry at lunch. She snuck her meat into her bag when the tray incident occurred. There was no scent because this was the bag designed by Logan. She was loving this room being as big as their rooms were but intended for only one person to sleep in. there was plenty of room for her kitchen and she set it up near a window.
She had 3 containers of food for each of them when Layla contacted her. They met in the area the girls ate earlier. Lana also put up fruit trees and told Layla to harvest what she wanted. The trees would be withered in the morning.
Meanwhile, Lana picked a whole bunch for herself, filling the bag, having emptied it before coming over. They asked each other for a quick update. All Lana had at the time was that Quinn had left the mountain and was in a Noble level class in the forest. Layla was glad to hear it and told Lana she was okay and learning a lot in the class.
She did relay to Lana that she had caught the eye of a creep named Xander and was warned not much could be done to stop him.
