Lana called over the wall, knowing it would echo but not really caring, "We're okay Dobin. We'll go around and meet you." And they did. They went to the next opening to their right, went through that area, took another right, went through that area, and another right brought them right back to the earth users.
"Caser, stay here and help with security. Nate, trade places with Sam. We need close fighters and ranged at each spot. I realized I screwed that up."
Nate chuckled, "a happy mistake that I got to enjoy in the combat! Those were interesting beasts."
"Yes, it's normal here," Lana chuckled.
She took Nate back to the beginning. One cart was full so she took the earth user to the surface after pointing Sam in the right direction. It was a straight shot so he could make it with no issues.
She took the earth user who's name as Setor to the surface to let him know where to place the crystal.
She told Setor she would be working on houses down the line and pointed to the end where 1D and 1E would be going. She had been thinking while down there. One, she needed to be able to put in that hanger. The hanger was going next to 1I, 2H, and 3H. There would be no 1J-1M, nor 2 or 3 of those letters. She needed to get that area clear so the hanger team could work. The other thing was she had this crew filling in the holes with crystals. Those went along the outside of the shelter so it would make more sense to build the outside so the crystal workers could find the nearest holes and fill them in easier while she worked on the interior.
She may want that visibility but it would have to wait so everyone could work on their jobs. She cleared the area, collected her crystals and put in 1D, 1E, 2D, and 3 D. She was then exhausted. Shalt supplied her with snacks to keep her going between builds. She then prepared dinner and left it on the stove except what she ate. Shalt had told her not to worry about bringing steaks for him. He just needed to occasional blood. Steak was a treat for him, especially with his background from the tenth.
Lana then went below to check on everything. The walls were going well. It would be faster if the crystal team didn't have to do crystals. The crystal team was trading in and out and the light was entering the areas that had crystals.
Since the dumpers were not all cleared, Almin had changed his focus to the stuff in the interior and light was beginning to filter through some of the other areas. He had already placed everything that was needed in the ones the crystals needed to go in. They expected that to help with security as well. Max and Almin were both tired at the end of each day. Luckily for them they were able to recharge over night.
Lana told them to break for the day, get dinner then work on setting up the houses she had already built. She told those eating at Dobin's place dinner was already cooked and waiting. She then went to the marketplace and bought everything needed for the houses she had built that day. She told them after they ate, she needed one earth user to cover the holes with grates. Dobin made sure to put the grate over the entrance as well.
After dinner she cleared more. She put in 1F, 1G, 2F and 3F. She showed Sam her layout for her shelter and asked him to direct the furniture setup before building those last ones. She went straight to bed when she was done. The teams all working together got everything set up before they went to bed. She was last to wake the next morning, more like early afternoon. Kattie handled feeding the people her house was responsible so she could rest more.
With the map provided by Lana, they were able to build walls. They needed her for crystal placement but could do that later. It was easier on security anyway to not split the earth user team. It also made the walls go up faster. It would still take many weeks to get them all done and they were sure they would shut something up in there with them. They would deal with what ever happened.
By the time they needed to head home, the walls all the way to the houses she had built were done plus that same length again for the areas she had not yet cleared. Lana had over extended herself but she created all the houses that would be next to the hanger on the one side. She wanted to wait on the other two sides until after the hanger was up.
The overall plan called for 132 20-foot 2-bedroom, 54 40-foot 3-bedroom, 54 40-foot 4-bedroom, and 19 80-foot houses, with the 20th being the command post. There were to be 8 100-foot buildings, one was to be her house. One was the library and school combination with classrooms; the travelers center where they could pick up quests, eat and relax; another was the training center where combat could be practiced as long as it was fire-safe. There were four buildings she had yet to designate a purpose for. She could not build them until that had been decided.
She didn't build any houses on the last partial day but on the third day she built her first 80-foot house. She used the same layout at the 4-bedroom house they were just bigger rooms. These were for dignitaries and important people. Or anyone Lana decided to designate to such a house. She did decide to do half as 5-bedrooms. Four would fit upstairs just fine with a bathroom. While she could do layout, she had no clue on décor so she waited on this one. She would build them, put in kitchens and bathrooms but furniture would need to wait.
The bedroom situation was why Shalt vetoed her not being in an 80-foot house. All bedrooms but the master bedroom were upstairs. She liked the design and felt those who were better off would be entertaining dignitaries and such as members of her leadership team or something along those lines. He knew she wanted to have a nursery off her own room for the babies but shalt wanted his room outside hers so he could respond quickly if he was needed. She understood his point. The rest of her time working was eliminating dumpers with Shalt very close at hand. She looked so tired. She was literally eating, working and sleeping. She had even quit cooking with Kattie taking over that duty for her completely.
Since the cargo bay was still full, they emptied it into the empty house until the traveler's center could be established. This way the people could have a place to select the things they needed. This stuff would go upstairs in the center.
Lana was asleep on the ship before they even finished unloading, Caser in his usual spot.
