Lana slept all the way until the next morning. She woke up starving. Dobin got her a whole bunch of food and allowed her to eat in their apartment. This time, he made sure to bring the luxury kitchen back and it would stay at the Crows until they were ready to leave for good. Shalt reported to Quinn for her and got an earful for allowing her to overwork herself. She even missed her call with Logan.
Dobin declared she and Shalt would stay in shelter for the day. Dobin and Duff would take the next to days off for training and studying. Lana was instructed to stay in bed and Shalt would deliver everything she needed to her. She was quite frustrated with this. She had to admit he was right. She could endanger the babies by pushing too much but she really wanted her shelter up. At the very least, enough to make it functional. She needed the perimeter houses done, the hanger, her house, all the community buildings and she had decided those last three 100-foot buildings would be orphanage housing. They would go in right next to the library which would have classrooms in the second floor. War was coming and war causes orphans.
Floor plans were still evading her but she had time. Next had to be the hanger and all the buildings that went around it. It would be partially hidden by the tree canopy.
The next morning, Lana reported to Blip to let him know she needed that hanger crew. Since her remote only worked on the one ship, she would need to go with them and unlock the second ship. Have everyone else transfer to that one then her ship would need to return for the rest of the people. Blip gave her an earful for overworking herself as well but he was not as stern because he understood what it was like building a shelter. She was just trying to take care of her people.
He asked how her finances looked. She told him they were still good but she was spending more than she was making. It didn't help she refused to sell crystals because they would be needed to make gear and for a power source. Blip smiled at her for thinking ahead. It was time for the morning meeting so they all walked over together and she found her friends.
She looked fully refreshed but her friends were still concerned. Lana, on the other hand, knew that pushing yourself could result in more MC. It wasn't a guarantee but she felt stronger after the work she did. She knew she needed that strength and would continue pushing herself as she was able to. Her Qi was also getting stronger.
Lana was pleased her team was able to get 17 advanced tier crystals the day before but she was hoping her increased strength would get more. Her team was worried about her because she seemed hyper focused on B-rank and building her shelter. They were worried she would harm herself in the process.
Once Blip finished the morning announcement, Shalt handed over his traveler ID for her to select a quest while he went and filled her bag with food. He didn't want to anger the 10th leader like that again. He reflected on that meeting as he walked to the place where her carrots were sold.
Shalt had approached him with all due respect a Leader deserved. "Tenth Leader," he bowed, "I wish to make a report in Miss Lana's stead. Building the shelter is going along well but Miss Lana is very tired. Dobin is tending her right now. She made it so the hanger can go in next time we go. She is trying to get it so the extra people won't need to keep coming or they won't be wasting their time there. The area below the shelter will be enclosed in about a month or so based on the current pace."
Quinn's eyes were glowing and the pressure was building in the room. "Go back to where she was too tired to report this herself. Why is she so tired?" Quinn's tone matched the pressure.
"I was providing her food and making her eat and take a break between buildings. She's very willful, as you know. She refused to rest as much as she needed. The work below depends on her work above. In the end, the team below decided to just guess at where the walls were needed since she couldn't keep pace with them. There are dumpers still active over where the shelter will be. She is feeling the pressure but she is the only one with her ability."
Quinn sighed knowing that was true. Having experienced the dumpers himself when he was weaker, he understood. "how many are going with her on the next outing?"
"Since the hanger is going in, it will be two full ships, standing room only."
Quinn was really unhappy. "She's not going to like it but we will be working with her again like last week. We'll force her to rest some. I understand her pressures but those are Vorden's babies and I promised to protect her as well."
Shalt bowed again, "yes, tenth leader."
Back in the travelers center, Lana chose the same area to hunt in with Quinn right next to her doing the same. She didn't even fight him or question him. She really didn't mind working with him. At times it reminded her of being with Sil. They were both impulsive and emotional.
The next two days went well and another 42 advanced tier crystals were added to their tags. That evening, Lana was giving the briefing to an additional 15 people. One of those 15 went with them to Quinn's ship. They kept the front window covered with whatever Logan told her that thing was called but this was Quinn's ship. She had no business showing it to others.
On the ship, she gave Dobin and Shalt access to fly this ship even though Shalt would be flying back with her to pick up the others. She had Dobin take the ship out then went and found Peter really quick to give him an update just because she was using both ships and she didn't want him alarmed at all this ship activity.
Lana climbed into her bunk and slept all the way to her planet. She did send a text to Logan and apologized for missing their call. He hadn't noticed but did give her a code for more parts to the lighting system.
The hanger crew split between all the three bedroom houses and each one had at least one person able to cook. Lana grew everyone enough food for the duration once they got to the planet. She put the codes in Logan had given her and Shalt moved all the stuff aside for her. She then bought a hanger which came in quite a few packages. Shalt took over receiving it so she could go to bed. It took an hour of entering codes, moving boxes, then entering more codes.
Lana had been feeling quite rested but the look on Shalt's face told her to rest and get back her MC after she grew all that food. She left instructions that the earth users need to fill in all the holes where the hanger was going before the crew could get to work. She also wanted all the holes on that side to be filled in no matter what, so she could put in the bigger places. She wanted the command post in this time around as well with hopes of the traveler's center going in next time. She was only able to sleep for 2 hours.
Lana had decided once the below area was enclosed and there was a confirmation of no danger, every cavern that had a crystal in the roof was getting permanent plants to reduce the strain as well. She wanted to get to where she was not always having to worry about whether there was enough food grown to feed her people.
She went to the area she wanted filled in and they were all still sleeping. Shalt nagged her the entire way about not eating before going over so she grabbed the snack bag from her back, sat down and ate. As she did, she assessed if everything she needed filled in was even cleared. She decided her first order of business was to wither a whole bunch of dumpers. She sighed when she realized how many needed to go just so the holes could be filled in but the bigger places couldn't go in until the job was done.
Dobin had awakened just after her and saw her leave. He told Alto, who had walked out to collect some food, that everyone was to gather and wait until he had orders from Lana. She was eating when he caught up with them so Shalt filled him in. Dobin nodded then went to Alto's for breakfast.
Lana stood with a long sigh. "Let's get the boring stuff done."
