Two days later.
The Sea Train, as usual, pulled into the blue station in Water 7, bringing in a large shipment of supplies.
Because of the massive storm that hit previously, Water 7 had been heavily damaged. Barry arrived with employees from Carrera Company, along with a group of strong young citizens.
"Ah!"
"That's Barry from Dock 1—why is he in the back alleys?"
"Mr. Barry!"
A group of young women, children, and excited citizens screamed the moment they saw the imposing, masculine Barry and the people marching behind him.
"Move aside!" Barry barked. "Out of the way—you're obstructing the path!"
"Ahhh!"
Even Barry's cold attitude didn't lessen the enthusiasm; it only made the women scream louder.
Barry lifted his chin and commanded his workers:
"This area is yours—Dock 3."
"Yes!"
"The area next to Scrap Island, starting from the residential houses—Dock 5 handles it."
"Yes!"
"We still have our regular work to do. Use the free time between shifts and completely repair the back alleys within one month!"
"Woooooah!"
Hearing Barry, the citizens were utterly captivated.
"Incredible! So reliable!"
"As expected of Carrera Company!"
Not only did they admire Barry—Sandy did too. Otherwise, Sandy wouldn't have invited him to sea before.
It was just that Barry refused. Since the man wasn't willing, Sandy wasn't about to force him aboard!
Meanwhile, where the Straw Hat Pirates were gathered, Zoro was nowhere in sight—he was still stuck at a coastline somewhere in Water 7, completely unable to find his way back no matter how hard he tried.
Since the Going Merry hadn't died but was instead stored inside a piece of wood in Sandy's backpack space, everyone's spirits were higher than ever.
At this moment, while Luffy slept, he continued eating without stopping—Sandy sat beside him, stuffing food into his own mouth as well.
"Chopper, don't you have your own food, you little bastard? Why do you always like to snatch mine?" Sandy was speechless.
Chopper replied seriously, "Luffy said stealing your food makes it taste extra delicious."
"…," Sandy stared blankly.
"Ohhh! Everybody feeling good?" Franky barged in without knocking, striking his signature dance pose.
Sandy rolled his eyes. "Feeling good my ass. Sanji, if you don't bring out more food, I swear I'll blow you away."
Chopper nodded furiously. "Yeah! If you don't bring food, we'll blow you away!"
Sanji's eyes went dead-fish blank. "You idiots have been eating for two days straight—how are you still not full? Anyway—Franky, what are you doing here?"
Franky raised an arm dramatically. "Someone's missing? Whatever. I've got something important to say! On a certain island constantly ravaged by war—
even with flying cannonballs turning whole cities into ash—there stands a massive tree, unshakable and eternal. Known as the strongest tree in the world—Adam Wood!"
"A tree? Are you giving us a science lecture now?" Sanji muttered.
Franky ignored him. "This tree's parts are sometimes cut and traded on the black market. I used the money I took from you guys before to buy it."
Sanji exploded. "You used our money to buy that ridiculous crap!?"
Sandy snorted. "What are you bragging about? If it's so strong, how can it be cut down and traded?"
Franky froze. "Shut up and listen! I once swore I'd never build ships again… but I still want to catch up to the man who's always been my role model.
Without realizing it, I've already drawn a ship design. My dream is to build a dream ship using Adam Wood—a ship that can sail across any sea!"
He paused, then asked.
"So once it's built… will you sail the seas on the ship I create?"
Chopper cried loudly, "Sandy! Does that mean we won't have to steal food anymore!? Wuwuwuwu!"
"Idiot!" Sandy slapped a hand over Chopper's mouth. "Why the hell would you say that out loud!?"
Franky blinked. "…What are you two whispering about?"
Sanji cut in. "Are you saying you're giving us that ship?"
"That's right." Franky grinned. "There's nothing happier than the people I like sailing on a ship I built. Besides, the money was originally yours.
Even Gol D. Roger's ship—the only pirate ship to circumnavigate the Grand Line—was built from Adam Wood. I'll build one even better!"
"Tch." Sandy scoffed. "What's so great about the Pirate King? Doesn't have shit to do with us. We're just going on a trip—as long as we have a ship, that's enough."
"Nani?!" Franky shouted. "You don't respect the Pirate King?"
"Sugoi!" Chopper sparkled at Sandy.
Sandy answered casually, "It's his business if he's great. Nothing to do with me. Anyway—Sanji, if you don't bring food out, I swear I'm gonna blo—"
RUMBLE!
One side of the house suddenly exploded—not from a cannonball, but a raw physical blast.
"What the hell!?"
"Who is it!?"
Before the dust cleared, a tall silhouette stepped through the debris.
"Are you the Straw Hat Pirates? There are a few men who want to see Monkey D. Luffy."
Sandy, mid-bite, froze. That presence—the jinx had arrived.
He immediately dove under the table, pulling the cloth down to cover himself, praying desperately to avoid being noticed.
As the dust cleared, a muscular old man appeared, wearing a dog-headed hat.
Monkey D. Garp.
"Navy!?" Sanji and Franky instantly dropped into a fighting stance.
Garp stared at Luffy snoring on his chair. "Still the same reckless brat."
Whoosh—!
Before anyone could blink, Garp appeared above Luffy and smashed his fist down.
"WAKE UP!!"
BOOM!!
"Nani!?"
"It's over!!"
Chopper screamed, "LUFFY!!"
"OW OW OW IT HURTS SO MUCH!!" Luffy wailed, clutching his head.
"Pain!? Aren't you rubber!? Haki!?" Sanji gasped.
Chopper yelled, "Sandy! Why are you hiding under the table!? Get out here—the Navy's here! Aren't you super strong!?"
Under the table, Sandy wanted to strangle him. He was trying to disappear—and the reindeer had to blow his cover!
Garp removed his hat, staring directly at Sandy.
That guy. How long had it been? His aura now was another world compared to before.
Without another word, he lifted his fist again.
"So—it's YOU!!"
BOOM!!
"DAMN IT!!"
