Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Back of the World

"Let go of me quickly!"

Being pinned to the ground by someone sitting on her, Gwen still felt utterly humiliated and angry, even knowing the other party was also female. She struggled, gritting her teeth and shouting.

Vincent, who was sitting on her, was in a predicament.

Just now, Gwen had made the first move. To prevent her from harming him and seeing his true face, he was forced to retaliate in self-defense.

But...

Although he had subdued her, he hadn't considered what to do next.

Release Spider-Woman?

Putting aside whether she would continue to attack, at such close range, if he let go, she could clearly see his face just by turning her head!

Vincent didn't want to expose his true identity. All his current abilities came from his aunt, not from his own innate talent. Perhaps he only possessed them temporarily tonight, and by the next day, he would revert to being a human with an ordinary physique.

But not letting go, he couldn't just stay in this stalemate all night.

"How about… just knock her out."

A flicker of hesitation crossed Vincent's eyes, worried he might accidentally use too much force.

Just as he was thinking about how to temporarily incapacitate Spider-Woman, the struggling Spider-Woman suddenly arched her body, lifting her only unconstrained right foot high. Her small foot, clad in a green low-top custom shoe, hooked around Vincent's neck like a grapple.

"Hm?!"

Vincent's throat was tightly constricted by the small, nimble foot, and his body involuntarily leaned back.

Understanding that Spider-Woman wanted to use this to break free from his suppression, Vincent held his breath. His left hand still tightly gripped her left ankle, and his right hand, which was clasping her wrists, applied even more pressure, giving her no chance to break free.

Crack, crack, crack!

Bones made crisp, popping sounds like stir-fried beans.

One on top, one below, their bodies almost in zero-distance contact, the two seemed to be entering a tug-of-war of endurance!

Spider-Woman Gwen, in the lower position, had her arched body almost bent into a crescent moon, her slender, graceful waist looking as if it could snap at any moment. Vincent, sitting on top, pressed against the Spider suit, could feel with incredible clarity the astonishing flexibility and strength of the body beneath him.

"Release your foot!" Vincent wanted to shout out.

Spider-Woman shouted first: "Quickly let go of me!"

Her small foot, hooked around Vincent's throat, pulled back with all its might, and her petite body twisted and struggled continuously.

"!!!" Vincent suddenly widened his eyes.

This was because Spider-Woman's small foot pulling back, combined with her continuous struggles, caused his body to also move backward. Originally, he was just sitting on her back, but now, Vincent's hard seat had upgraded to a soft seat, and the highest grade at that.

Vincent was stunned; he was currently wearing a short skirt, after all.

Spider-Woman was completely unaware of this. Noticing Vincent's body stiffen for a moment, she mistakenly thought he was losing strength and struggled even more fiercely.

The quality of the Spider-Man suit was undoubtedly excellent, but due to design considerations for outdoor activity and breathability, it was even thinner than ordinary jackets or jeans, to the extent that it couldn't conceal the perfectly curved 'Saintess's Valley.'

Coupled with the Master's overly intense movements… "This is bad."

Vincent secretly cried out, not knowing whether this counted as enjoyment or torment, as the hot blood that had been boiling in his body began to surge downwards.

"What is that?"

Spider-Woman finally realized something was amiss. There was an unknown object beneath her skirt, pressing against her through a layer of the Spider suit fabric.

Vincent suddenly released his grip on her left ankle, pulled up the remaining white web fluid nearby, and like a rope, wrapped it several times around Spider-Woman's hands, and incidentally, around the small foot on his neck.

He completed all this swiftly.

Vincent jumped off Spider-Woman, pulled out the vintage longsword impaled in the iron door, and without looking back, leaped towards a tall building on the opposite street.

Perhaps it was luck, or perhaps the series of encounters tonight had given him a certain proficiency with supernatural powers.

This time, Vincent perfectly controlled his jumping force, soaring over twenty meters high and landing precisely on the water tower of the building opposite. After a few more running starts and leaps, his figure, with the round shield on his back, disappeared into the city night, where the snow was falling ever heavier.

Ten seconds later.

"You damn scoundrel, I'll kill you!"

"Where is he? Come out!!"

Having cleared the web fluid wrapped around her, the girl under the Spider cowl had a face full of shame and rage. Her black and white battle suit seemed to be on fire as she began to swing wildly back and forth between the high-rise buildings.

Even from half a street away, Vincent could hear the angry shouts of the girl behind him.

"You can't blame me for this." Vincent gave a wry smile, looking down at his noticeably bulging skirt. He still found a corner on the top floor of a building to hide.

A moment later, Spider-Woman swung past from a nearby high-rise, rapidly moving away.

"This time, I can finally go home, right?"

Vincent, his skirt now calm, let out a breath and walked out from the shadows of the building, carrying his sword.

He looked around.

Through the somewhat iconic buildings nearby, Vincent quickly confirmed that he was in the border area between Washington's inner and outer districts, more than ten kilometers from his home in the city center.

Heaven knew how he had gotten here.

"Do I have to jump back?" Vincent felt a little helpless, but there was nothing he could do. Just as he was about to head back home, something unexpected happened!

Thump!

The building Vincent was on suddenly trembled.

"Is this…?" Vincent initially thought it was his imagination, but the next second, the building he was standing on again transmitted a distinct tremor!

Vincent quickly reacted, looking at the surrounding city buildings.

Not only the building he was standing on, but nearby high-rise buildings also showed obvious vibrations!

Was this an earthquake?

Vincent had this thought, then quickly dismissed it.

No!

His current five senses and consciousness surpassed human cognition, allowing him to perceive things that humans usually couldn't. This epicenter didn't seem to originate from beneath the city's surface; it purely came from a specific location on the surrounding city's surface!

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Every second or few seconds, the surrounding city ground and buildings would subtly tremble, as if a giant hammer was violently striking the ground!

"It's not very far from here." Vincent murmured, standing on the top floor of the building, looking towards a certain direction on the city street below.

As if verifying his extraordinary perception and judgment.

Boom!!

In Vincent's vision, a building in the city area two or three kilometers away suddenly roared and collapsed!

The city's original tranquility and peace, immersed in the winter night, were directly shattered by some unknown terrifying entity!

And this was just the raising of the curtain.

Bang, bang, bang!!!

Boom, boom, boom—

Deafening gunfire and artillery sounds followed one after another, dense and continuous, like thunder in a summer downpour, erupting from the collapsed building as the center!

Flames soared into the sky, rapidly spreading in all directions, setting the surrounding busy streets and the city sky ablaze.

"Roar—!"

From the urban battlefield, which instantly became a corner of hell, a spine-chilling roar echoed. That sound definitely didn't belong to humans or any animals, directly overpowering the carpet bombardment of modern artillery!

"What kind of creature is that?"

Vincent's eyes widened, looking towards the center of the flames and smoke in the distant city, watching the fleeting green colossal shadow, as if he had seen the true hidden side of this world!
